Chapter 5 - Rebirth and Refinement

The entity sits cross-legged in front of you, their lack of facial features add to its eerie nature. The gentle breeze paired with the soft rustle of blades of grass gives a sensation of peace.

Unfortunately you are not at rest as you observe the entity. You quickly discovered that trying to make sense of its physiology was ultimately an onerous task.

" Your prudence is well placed, " it states. " But I mean you no harm. " It rises to its feet, the aura radiating off it is otherworldly.

" Perhaps a different form would ease your nerves, " it theorizes. " Humans are an enigma, even for one such as myself."

A pillar of light descends from the heavens, engulfing the being. You should have lost your sense of sight the moment the pillar touched ground yet you stare at the intense pillar of light, you find it, mesmerizing yet haunting.

As suddenly as the light manifested, it scatters and for a split second, feel an absurd heat wave wash over you. The phenomenon disappears as quickly as it manifested.

The area where the light struck is charred, embers rise, stirred on by the breeze. They form a zephyr around the entity, who has taken on a new form.

It stands on four limbs, has a snout and a coat of fur with a golden resplendent aura around it. Its tail is long and ends in a bushy end. In this form, it has eyes. The color being a beautiful mixture light turquoise-green.

" A tad theatrical," it speaks yet the maws remain closed. " But I do so relish moments such as these. "

It begins to walk around for a bit, clearly getting familiarized with its new form. It then begins to trot before finally breaking into a gallop. A boom is heard as it disappears from view, leaving a fiery trail in its wake.

" This will do just fine, " a voice verbalizes right next to you causing you to flinch in shock.

The entity stands next to you, in its previous form while the second form appears at its feet.

" He will be your loyal companion, " it elucidates.

You are brimming with questions.Conquering your perhaps misplaced circumspection regarding the entity, you decide to ask it a few questions.

But the moment you try to verbalize a few, you realize you can't speak. Try as you might not even a squeal emerges. You begin to panic, your breathe quickens and your thoughts are a complete mess. You pace about, trying to just make a single sound but nothing still comes out.

A hand lands on your shoulder, causing you to stop. A wave of tranquility washes over you. Something bumps into your left leg. You look down to see the dog like form nuzzling your left leg.

" You have no name and no voice, " the entity points out. " But that does not mean you can't have a life. " It says in a calming voice.

It points past you and you hear a whoosh and feel a gust of wind from behind. You look back to catch a glimpse of an incision in reality. A soft humming sound can be heard coming from it.

" That is the exit. He will be your companion for all of eternity," it points to its dog form who lets out a bark.

The weight on your shoulder disappears and the entity takes a step back. In its hands is a tome, mostly black with gold accents along the edges.

The sense of deja vu returns. You cautiously reach out your hand and accept the tome. It feels heavy but you quickly become accustomed to its weight. It vibrates in your hand before floating and slowly orbiting around you.

" You will also need this, " it manifests a sheathed blade and a satchel. " They belong to you and so does that. " It points to the ring which pulsates lightly.

You decide to put it on and feel something awaken, but you can't put a finger on it. The being still holds out the blade and satchel, patiently waiting for you to take it.

You accept them and it nods. It performs a series of gestures that are too fast for you to track but the dog seems to comprehend all of it as it lets out a bark and runs towards the tear in reality.

" We will meet again, until then this is goodbye. "

It suddenly disappears from view, leaving you with your new god-like companion or perhaps it was a god in its own right.

A bark stops your train of thought. You look to your new companion who sits patiently by the tear, its tail swishing about idly. Does it have a name or perhaps it was an anonymity like you.

" Draalsar. " A disembodied voice says.

It takes all of merely a second to realize the source of the voice. It appears that your loyal companion has a name, a unique one at that. You wait for it to say something else, it doesn't and simply watches you.

You pluck the tome as it flies idly around you and place it in the satchel and swing it over your back. Grabbing the sword, you glimpse runes etched into the scabbard. It thrums with power, giving it a golden resplendent look.

You grip the handle and withdraw the blade. The blade itself is double edged and echoes a powerful aura. It also seems familiar but once again you can't exactly recollect why that is so.

With everything in place you walk towards the anomaly. The closer you get, the more reality begins to twist and bend around you. The experience is nauseating to say the least but you power through.

The dog on the other hand, appears unfazed by all of this. It gazes as you approach. Even then it has an an ambiance of power around it. And to think it was your immortal companion. Does that also make you immortal in some sense?

You stand directly in front of the tear in space. A strange sense of peacefulness sets upon you. The tear is a maelstrom of lacquer. You feel entranced by the otherworldly display in front of you.

You shake off the sensation and look at your four legged companion. It watches, waiting for you. And so you take the plunge into the unknown, your companion following suit.

Your vision goes white for a brief moment before returning. You hear a whoosh as Draalsar appeared next to you.

The smell of blood hits you, so much so your eyes begin to slightly water. You see multiple dried patches of blood. The room where you spawned has seen better days. Parts have been completely destroyed while others are barely being held together by pieces of rebar.

You stare into the darkness of the room, watching the various shadows created by debris. Then you see it, a silhouette. It is hard to make it out but the bizarre movement it creates.

Another makes its presence known as it stumbles into the light. It is completely disfigured. Its head is missing and what seems to be its own arm, which held a rapier which was plunged into its torso. There's a massive amount of dried blood around the region where the rapier is.

It collapses under its own weight, falling back first. It crashes with a loud thud. The rapier remains in place, seemingly pinning down the headless body.
