Chapter 33 - Semifinal : Jameson Vs Mark

The semifinal day had finally arrived, and the arena was filled with anticipation and excitement. The crowd roared as the referee announced the start of the match, signaling the beginning of what promised to be an unforgettable showdown between two powerful mages.

The audience was a sea of faces, each one filled with excitement and anticipation as they eagerly awaited the start of the match. Some were dressed in brightly colored robes, others in more subdued attire, but all were united in their passion for the art of magic.

As the referee stepped onto the center of the stage, the noise in the arena began to quiet down. The crowd watched with bated breath as the referee raised his wand, signaling the start of the first semifinal match.

"The first semifinal match is between Mark and Jameson," the referee announced, his voice echoing throughout the arena. "Are you ready, gentlemen?"

Mark and Jameson stepped forward, each looking determined and focused. They raised their wands, and the arena fell silent.

As the two opponents faced each other, Jameson couldn't help but sneer at Mark. "Well, well, well, if it isn't little Mark," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I thought I smelled something weak and pathetic."

Mark didn't respond to Jameson's taunts, keeping his expression calm and collected. However, inside, he was seething with anger and nerves. He had always been a target of Jameson's bullying, and now he was facing him in the semifinals.

Jameson continued to mock Mark, pacing back and forth in front of him. "You know, I always knew you were a coward," he said. "But I didn't think you'd be stupid enough to make it this far."

Mark gritted his teeth, trying to block out Jameson's words. He knew that he needed to focus on the task at hand and not let Jameson get under his skin. But it was easier said than done.

Mark took a deep breath, summoning up the courage to face Jameson. "I may not be as powerful as you, Jameson," he said, his voice firm and steady. "But I have something you don't. And that's heart."

Jameson laughed, a cruel sound that echoed throughout the arena. "Heart? You think heart is going to win you this match? You're delusional, Mark."

But Mark wasn't deterred. He knew that he had to believe in himself if he was going to have any chance of defeating Jameson. He focused on his training, summoning the magic within him and preparing to cast his first spell.

The crowd watched with bated breath as Mark and Jameson faced off, their wands at the ready. The tension in the air was palpable, as everyone waited to see who would make the first move.

Jameson took a deep breath, his eyes locked onto Mark's. He knew that he had to strike first if he wanted to win this match. He raised his wand and shouted, "Fire Blast!" A stream of flames shot out of his wand, hurtling towards Mark.

Mark's eyes widened in surprise, but he was quick to react. He raised his wand and shouted, "Water Shield!" A barrier of water formed in front of him, blocking the Fire Blast from hitting him.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause at the display of magic. It was clear that both mages were skilled in their craft.

Jameson smirked at Mark's quick reaction, but he wasn't deterred. He knew he had more tricks up his sleeve. He lowered his wand, staring intently at Mark. "You're quite good," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "But can you handle this? Fire Arrow!"

A fiery arrow shot out of Jameson's wand, aimed directly at Mark. The arrow was much faster than the Fire Blast before, and Mark barely had time to react.

He quickly raised his wand and shouted, "Clay Wall!" A wall of clay formed in front of him, blocking the Fire Arrow from hitting him.

The crowd gasped in awe as the Fire Arrow collided with the Clay Wall, creating a loud explosion of sparks and flames. The wall held up under the impact, but it was clear that Mark had used a lot of energy to create it.

Jameson chuckled, his confidence growing with each passing moment. "You're getting sloppy, Mark," he taunted. "Maybe you're not as good as everyone thinks."

Mark gritted his teeth, refusing to let Jameson get under his skin. "Don't get too cocky, Jameson," he retorted. "You haven't seen the full extent of my power yet."

With that, Mark raised his wand and began to mutter a series of incantations under his breath. His wand began to glow with a bright brown light, and the air around him crackled with energy.

Jameson watched with interest, intrigued by what Mark was doing. "What's this? A new trick?" he asked, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.

Mark didn't answer, too focused on the task at hand. He continued to mutter under his breath, his wand glowing brighter and brighter with each passing moment.

The crowd grew silent, sensing that something big was about to happen. They watched with anticipation as Mark suddenly thrust his wand forward and shouted, "Sludge Cannon!"

A jet of thick, viscous sludge shot out of Mark's wand, hurtling toward Jameson. The sludge was so dense that it blocked out the light, creating a shadowy barrier between the two mages.

Jameson's eyes widened in surprise as he realized what was happening. He tried to dodge the sludge, but it was too late. The thick liquid hit him with full force, covering him from head to toe.

The crowd gasped in shock at the sight, some recoiling at the sight of Jameson's now slimy appearance. But Mark was unfazed, a look of satisfaction on his face.

"Do you see that, Jameson?" he called out, his voice ringing with triumph. "That's what happens when you underestimate me."

The audience erupted into cheers, applauding Mark's victory over Jameson. Mark couldn't help but feel a sense of pride wash over him. He had trained long and hard for this moment, and it had all paid off.

But suddenly, his joy was interrupted by a loud, mocking laughter coming from Jameson. Mark's smile faded as he turned to face his opponent. Jameson was wiping the sludge off his face, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
