Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: RESPONSIBILITIES AND REVELATIONS

As everyone exchanged glances, no one seemed willing to shoulder the responsibility of leadership. Sakshi broke the silence, stating, "I would like to take on the role of leader."

All eyes turned to Sakshi, but no one voiced their thoughts. Their primary concern was surviving the ongoing crisis. Arlo spoke up, "Miss, we have no objections to your leadership. However, if you don't mind, could we at least know your name?"

Sakshi responded with a cold gaze, "Sakshi."

Arlo furrowed his brow and nodded. "Shall we now begin our work?"

Each person started to fulfill their assigned tasks. The three women from the couples proceeded to the kitchen to prepare food, while the others began fortifying the glass walls with tables. Arlo and Hrithik worked together on the left side of the hall, binding the tables in place. Once Arlo finished his work, he took a moment to rest on the hall sofa.

After a while, Sakshi approached Arlo with a stern expression and questioned, "What are you doing here? Can't you see everyone else is still working? What is your purpose?"

Arlo smiled and responded, "I was also wondering why you hadn't approached me until now. Let me clarify—I have been working tirelessly since yesterday. I am not involved in any other tasks at the moment."

Sakshi retorted coldly, "Fine, if you continue with this behavior, you won't be welcome here."

Upon hearing her words, the others felt a twinge of anger towards Sakshi and shot sympathetic glances towards Arlo. However, Arlo paid little attention to her remarks and calmly stated, "Well, there's no need for you to make an effort to kick me out. Let me assure you, I will leave on my own accord the day after tomorrow. Is that satisfactory?"

Sakshi frowned, contemplating Arlo's response. She thought to herself, "He had planned to leave on his own. No wonder he relinquished the leadership position."

Worriedly, Hrithik interjected, "Arlo, don't you think it's too risky for you to venture out alone?"

Arlo smiled confidently and replied, "Don't worry, I will be fine. I know how to protect myself."

Sakshi pondered Arlo's words. "He seems confident, and he managed to kill all the zombies by himself." She made up her mind and asked, "I believe you know of a safe place where we can seek refuge from this crisis, don't you?"

All eyes turned towards Arlo, awaiting his response. Arlo frowned, realizing he had no knowledge of the situation outside. However, his confidence stemmed from the devices he possessed.

Arlo sighed and confessed, "I have no information about the situation outside. I am merely searching for something."

Sakshi suspected Arlo was withholding information, but she chose not to confront him. After half an hour, lunch was ready, and Arlo ate his meal before retiring to his room—Room 301, on the third floor.

Inside his room, at 4:05 PM, Aisha began explaining certain rules to Arlo. "You are prohibited from revealing any information about these devices."

She continued, "Reveal as little as possible about your capabilities, unless absolutely necessary."

Aisha added, "No one else can use the device you possess because it scans the user's DNA before activation."

Curious, Arlo inquired, "Aisha, how can I increase my authority?"

Aisha responded, "To increase your authority, you must eliminate zombies of different categories. The more you kill, the higher your authority level will become."

Arlo expressed surprise, saying, "So, that's how it works, huh?"

Arlo then asked, "How many zombies have I killed?"

Aisha replied, "I don't have that information at the moment, but we can obtain it in the future."

She continued, "Master, here is your current status:

Name: Arlo

Region: India

Authority Level: E

Points: 48

Zombies Killed:

Category I: 4

Category II: 0

Category III: 0

Category VI: 0"

Arlo was taken aback by the information displayed before him. After conversing with Aisha for a while longer, he went to sleep. And in the blink of an eye, the night passed.
