The conversation progressed without her and she slipped out of there. She missed Derek. If asked what she missed about him, she wouldn't be able to respond because honestly, there were too many things about him that she missed and due to the fact that she had all of Sylvia's memories, she was able to understand him better.
He never treated her as a replacement. The way he treated her and the way he treated Sylvia, they were both different. She knew that now.
He was trying his best to convey his feelings but was very bad at it. Yet, he was doing his best and was concerned about her the whole time.
