Why did Susan even think of saying that out of the blue?
"Ha!" Derek exclaimed. "Afterall, that's how you really see me." He sounded hurt but she got the conclusion that he was angry and seeing his clenched fist was proof.
Although he was trying to look calm, she could still feel it.
"It's nice to know you put your fate so strongly on 'Edgar'." He said and with that, glued his gaze outside the window, giving her no room for explanation.
She just had to go on and ruin the atmosphere between them. Why did she say that?
Derek thought they were already past that level of viewing the other with their status or their race but it looked like he was the only one who had that thought.
'She doesn't want me to protect her but put her entire faith in a stranger' he thought, clenching his teeth.
