The anger that had been built up in Derek, was enough to wipe out the entire witches race so he set out. He stormed the witches hideout and at the expense of his energy running out, broke each and every barrier spell they set in front.
A few witches spells weren't enough to bring him down but there was something about the spells. They were draining his energy. But before he could think of that, he killed every witch in sight and retrieved the bodies of the dead children.
He later discovered that the witches he had killed were a faction that had been deliberately set apart to distract him while the real faction, with Aliya leading, had headed west and disappeared without a trace.
Derek returned to the mansion, with his energy draining with every passing second. There was something wrong with his body that he couldn't understand so he thought it best to take a break.
