Alice ran her finger down the textbook to avidly point at the work that they were working on, and Claudia's brows scrunched together comically making Alice sign since she was determined to get through this section for the night.
They have been going at it for a few hours now with Claudia taking multiple breaks in between. Alice crossed her arms and smiled when Claudia finally oohed in understanding after piecing all the work together.
She tapped her pencil on the table waiting for Claudia to finish the rest of the problems she had outlined and long completed before, but Alice didn't mind since she was here to help.
She showed Claudia how to connect the differentiation and integration with all the demonstrations and everything to the point where Alice whipped out her phone to pull up videos to help get a better diagram when Claudia was practically nodding off to the side since all the information was going in through one ear and out the other while Alice was furiously writing notes down.
Alice laughed at how opposite their reactions were making Claudia wake up and grin with her. Clapping her hands together, Alice smiled. "Go over these questions in fifteen minutes, and do what you can."
"No," Claudia groaned as Alice pointed out the work problems from the textbook that they needed to do.
"I literally don't even know what's happening," Claudia said slowly.
"Start those and move on. If you have time later then come back to them and at least guess something," Alice answered with an encouraging smile. "You can do it."
"I really can't," Claudia whined just as Alice started the timer, and they immediately got to work with their pencils scratching against the lined paper.
Alice had a good grasp of the concept now that it was fresh in her brain, and she looked over to see Claudia just drifting off into the distance, Alice kicked Claudia's shin lightly to get her attention. Claudia groaned and looked over at Alice's paper and groaned again, making Alice grin as she was still writing.
The phone alarm went off, and Alice clicked the shut-off button while Claudia set her pencil down on her paper as if she had lost her soul. Alice took the time to go through the answers with Claudia and helped her make the basic connection needed to pass considering that she was working with Claudia's short attention span.
Claudia nodded with the pencil to her lips as Alice carefully explained, and Claudia scribbled in some notes to the side. Instead of writing down any equations, Claudia had written down all the words that came out of Alice's mouth. Alice tilted her head as she watched Claudia write it all in large thought bubbles so that it stuck out of the paper.
"What's the purpose of doing that?" Alice asked.
"It will make me remember your words. I won't remember the equations or anything since I started late, but I think I will be able to come back to what you said to me. That way, I can at least think about something on the test," Claudia said. "I should try and get the foundations memorized though. Ugh, why did I start so late?"
"I don't know if that'll help, but if it does, then my job is done," Alice laughed.
"Starting late is on you girl."
Claudia sighed. "Don't remind me. The facts are already hitting hard."
"As it should," Alice said as she closed up the textbook alarming Claudia.
"Wait? We are already done?"
Alice snorted. "Where have you been the last three hours?"
"Three hours?"
Alice stacked the books that they took out onto the table and laughed. "Yes, it has been. We can start catching up on the shows that we had missed despite knowing that you didn't do much today."
Claudia shook her head with a grin. "Time flies fast when you're having fun."
"Or time flies fast when you literally zone out for the last hour without me catching you since you were doing it with your eyes open."
Claudia waved her off. "A win's a win."
"A win is not a win when you see your marks tomorrow."
"What do you mean?" Claudia said. "I have trained my brain just by sitting near you."
Alice rolled her eyes. "You sit next to me every day."
Claudia moved over and sat down next to her now that they were done with their work and stared up at the TV that had turned dark due to the fact of the inactivity since they both forgot about it. It looked like Claudia did keep her promise to not look at the screen, but how could she when she was practically falling asleep with her eyes open?
Alice covered her laugh with a cough from the image but wasn't going to tell Claudia about how funny she looked, because Claudia would then dig up her embarrassing stories to try and cope. Yeah, there was no way she was trying to dig her own grave because then she would have to lie in and suck it up.
