Chapter 60 - For You, The World

She leaned her head on Claudia's shoulder as she grabbed the white throw blanket that was on the cream loveseat that she tossed off earlier when they started to get down to business to throw over their legs and grabbed the remote to pull up another show since Alice was nearing the end of the chapter that she wanted to get through.

Sitting on the bed would be much more comfortable, but they were stationed on the ground and didn't want to get up.

Alice clicked on a show that she knew that both she and Claudia needed to catch up on, and she didn't hear any protests from Claudia as the next episode started playing with the wonderfully shot screenplay going up on the screen that could rival a true theater experience due to the quality that Claudia got every day at home.

She wasn't a big television show person as she had mentioned, but she watched them loosely on the side when she wasn't doing anything to fill up her time. If Claudia didn't give her any recommendations to watch then she wouldn't go out of her way and find other things to do instead. But nowadays, she was caught up in a show based on a book series she read a long time ago.

Claudia was interested in it too, because of the romance genre per usual, but Alice actually found the story to be well written, and the show was surprisingly paced well compared to a lot of remakes from novels and other works.

Alice leaned forward to take a gulp from her water bottle and sat back when Claudia posed the question that was bound to come up sometime tonight.

"I didn't realize that you were so close to Noah," Claudia said throwing out the bait.

With a knowing smile, Alice continued to stare at the screen. "I'm not."

"You two seem very buddy-buddy as of late."

"Well, I'd say that our paths are crossing more as of late," Alice responded.

"Yes, but it seems like you two are getting along better than you think, Alice."

Alice sighed. "I don't want to admit it, but he's fine. He's more quiet than I expected."

Claudia nodded. "Yes. I would say the same. He's not one to talk despite being the center of attention. I'd say that you two are similar in that sense."

Alice flicked her eyes back up to the television screen, and Claudia squeezed her arm. "I don't even know why you didn't like him in the first place, honestly."

"Hmmm," Alice drew out.

Her dear friend pinched her side, and Alice had to admit it. "I don't clearly remember either. For a long time now, he was just in my vision but at the same time not. It felt as though he was put on a pedestal."

Claudia shrugged. "It happens, but I see how hard you work, Alice. You get recognized for your talents though. I think that's plenty."

"Yes, I do agree," Alice said softly. "I'm okay now, it's just that my first year I was always surrounded by him, then when it was my second year, I wanted it to be a breath of fresh air only to be stuck in the same class again. Since last year, I've been actively avoiding him since I didn't want to have any interaction with him due to the distaste I had in my mouth around him."

"What's so different now versus then?" Claudia asked.

"I have seen a lot of different sides of him lately," she sighed. "He also corrected my assumptions when it came down to it which I really appreciate. It was an eye-opener."

Claudia nodded. "He's not a bad person. I'm not that close to him, but we have a lot of mutual friends, and his personality is good, and has good manners."

"He's really not a bad person," Alice agreed slowly. "If I ever gave the impression of that, it was due to my own immaturity."

Claudia squeezed Alice's shoulder. "Look how far you've come. You've grown a lot to realize that everyone has it hard no matter the circumstances."

"That's true," Alice said. "He's like a breath of fresh air and such a pain. I'm still trying to figure out if I like it or not."

"You definitely like it," Claudia sang only for Alice slid her a look of distain.

"Okay, okay, my dear friend," Claudia laughed. "I know how with romance. It's not your forte, but a girl can dream can they?"

Alice cracked her knuckles before stretching her arms above her head. "Well, of course. It's just that I would like a dream that differs from yours."

Claudia took a sip of her water and sighed. "You deserve the world."

Alice wrapped an arm around Claudia's while leaning her chin on Claudia's shoulder, appreciating the sentiment. "As do you. I hope that someone will be able to give it to you. If not, we can make it ourselves."
