Chapter 21 - Seed of Doubt [Part 3]

Shaking Raven, I don't get any response from him. Hearing the footsteps of other people, I grab the book and drag him away. "Where is the fucking kitchen?" Looking around, I saw a foot tray. "Here!" pushing the door open. I see golden hair.

"Lilith!" Dropping Raven, I raise my sword. "Calm down, I'm not here to fight, I'm waiting for James. He told me to wait here." Lowering my sword, she jumped off the counter. Dusting her dress, she saw a passed-out Raven. "That fool pushed himself too far again."

"Again?" I asked. Nodding her head, she says. "Ravne uses his body as a medium to conjure powerful ice changes. He's not gifted in Sephs but his tenacity is what makes him dangerous."

"So that's why he's cold as an ice block." Smiling, she starts to walk around the room. Placing my book on the counter, I ask her if she knows where the sewer is.

"Here," Stomping her foot on a pretty obvious manhole, I rub my head. "Yeah, that's pretty obvious sorry..."

What the hell am I doing?! She's the one behind the murder of my dojo! So why do I feel like she had nothing do to with it?

"Ken? Hello! Earth calls Ken." Snapping out, I see Lilith's face almost touching mine. Smooth like marble, I think. Stumbling back, I ask. "Do you know this book?" Lifting up the leather book with a heart drawn on it, she shakes her head.

"No, maybe James said something about a book of hearts, but I personally don't have any experience with this." Putting the book, down I apologize for the stupid question.

"You seem to be on edge, is something wrong?" Taking a step closer, I'm forced to climb on top of a counter to stop her form going into my personal space. "No, I just... don't like the people around you."

Sighing, she sits on the counter next to me. "Don't worry, I know you killed Peter and injured James back there." I know that the right thing to do is to make space, but I feel like she means no harm.

"I don't mind you doing that, after all, I give my subordinates the freedom to do almost anything they want in their free time." Nodding my head, she says something shocking.

"Around 2 weeks back, James asked me to take some of the men to settle some dispute in the lower slums." Chuckling a bit she tries to continue, but my mind is stuck on the thought that 2 weeks back the Dojo was slaughtered.

"Wait, James asked for your help?" Nodding her head she tells me how he insisted on this being important. "To this day I don't know what he did. Anyway, since James is in custody and I'm here all alone here now... Would my mind." Leaning to my ear, she whispers.

"Being my kni-"

*Bang~!* A bullet flies between us causing us both to jump away. "Ken, stay away from her." Talking in a calm voice, he stumbles to his feet.

I felt like I hear something clicking, but when I turned I saw Lilith, opening the sewers.

"It seems like this is all the time, may we continue this next time, handsome." Jumping down into the sewer, I turn to Raven. "What the hell was that for?!"

Stumbling to me, he looks into the sewer. "Forget anything she said. She's a witch disguised as an innocent woman!" Holstering his pistol, he looks at me. "I don't know what she said, but don't believe a single word from that whore."

Grabbing my book, he places it in my hand. "Take it and let's leave."

Stumbling to the manhole, I look at the book only to hear a loud thud. Seeing Ravne fall to the ground with a giant hole in his chest, I hear him whisper. "Run..."

Jumping off the counter, I try to move to him but stop.

"Hold it there samurai." Having a sword out of nowhere next to my neck. I see familiar blue hair in plated armor. "Gabriel?" Nodding his head, he lowers the sword.

"Sister, take a look at Raven. I don't want him to die." Walking in through the door, a woman in a nun outfit crouches down to Raven. "I don't want him to die.... Then maybe don't make a golf-sized hole in his chest!"

Placing her hand on his chest, I could see it grow back in real-time. "What do you want?"

Smiling, Gabrile says. "To see your skill, while Raven over there is a person they want to really catch, I don't really care, I want to see your skill child, I want to see if you live up to the name you were given today. Yellow wolf."

Swallowing in my nervousness, Gabriel grabs my sword and places it in my hand. "Three rules. One, you win if you make me bleed, two I won't attack you for a whole minute."

"And the third?"

"If I win, you two are coming with me to repent for your sins."

Grabbing the sword with my two hands, he signals me to start. Standing opposite each other in the kitchen. He keeps his sword low, without a worry about the world. Taking a deep breath I prepare to attack.

"You ready now?" Nodding my head, I ran at him. Sword high above my head, I come into range, and strike at Gabriel.

Putting his sword above his head, I twist my wrist, so my sword flies to his side. Using one hand to move his claymore. He stops my blade.

"Is this it? I guess people really do get a name for anything these days."

Jumping back, I ran at him again. I swung my sword with everything I got, the golden blade cut the floor. The metal machines, but his sword stood unchipped.

"5 seconds Ken, after this I'm gonna attack."

All or nothing, Feeling my veins burn, the world loses all color. Gabrile's eyes go wide when Ken disappears,.He gets serious but it's too late. The Blade is already at his neck.

*Clink* Striking his neck, the blade fails to even cut the skin. "YOu have my congratulations Ken, but you lack the power to harm me."

Ending my onslaught, I take a defense stand with the sword resting on my head. "Your funeral." Grabbing the sword with two hands Gabriel disappears.

No, he's behind me! I turn around only to find him facing away from me. His blade is colored red, yet I don't have a single-

*Splurt* Spraying blood out of my side, I drop the sword and fall to the side.

It's the snowy field again, but this time. The wolf has a huge cut on his side. wobbling on his paws, it whimpers in pain. If we fought like animals, Gabriel would be a human hunter. Not even a bear could harm him. For he's at the top.

Gabriel is in a league of his own. Raven was right. I can't defeat him! What should I do?! Can I run? Can I?

Spotting the book, I smiled. Right, I can do it. My master would laugh in my face, no he would tell me to do as my heart tells me. God! Maybe James was right, my master was a hypocrite! I don't know what to do!

[If lost do as your heart says.] My heart is telling me to save Raven, but also to run! What should I do?!

Raising my head, I see Gabriel slowly approaching me. Think Ken Think! Looking around the room with my eyes, I see Raven. He's biting his own tongue?

That's it!

Standing above, Ken. Gabriel opens his mouth to say something, but Ken with every last bit of his energy jumps up. "Yo-" Bitting down on his tongue, he turns away. "Jesus," Spitting out a little bit of blood, Gabriel smiles.

"Haha. Very well, it's your victory. I didn't expect you to do this. But trickery in battle is the second greatest thing right after skill. Sister! May I ask of you to give a saintly blessing to this man?"

Removing her hands from Raven, she walks over. "What a nasty cut. There's gonna be a scar."

Waving it off, Gabriel smiles. "Scars are what build a man. Now go you two lambs." Sheathing his sword, he starts to walk away. Getting slapped on my now scarred side, the nun just smiles, before she's off to mumble with Gabriel again.

"What just happened?" Seeing Raven get up and wobble to me, I hear. "God's right hand just bled, and no one would believe us."
