Chereads / Yellow Wolf / Chapter 10 - Just Us

Chapter 10 - Just Us

Looking at the cell full of fur, I grab a piece only to think about what had to happen here.

"They're monsters," Ella comments as she holds cat fur in her hand. Slamming her fist into the wall, Marie holds back her tears. "Why?...."

Having a moment, we suddenly hear Raven yell.

"Guys! Lucy doesn't have this much fur! What are you doing? This isn't even the right color of fur! It's fucking black! How do you miss this point so badly?!"

Taking a good look under the light, I realize that it's red and not gray. Sighing in relief, I ask Raven if he knew all along. "What the hell do you mean by all along? There's nothing to know, this just isn't Lucy. Anyway, now that she's the last one missing we should hurry up."

Nodding, I ask Raven where we should go. "I have no idea, but I think that the execution room would be a good idea." Not waiting for a second, we run after Raven.

"Let's eat your waffles after this Ella!" Marie yells as she wipes her drooling mouth.

"You're truly thinking about food now?" I asked. Smiling, she tells me it's better than thinking about the possibility that she will never see Lucy again. Lowering my head, I get a soft pat on the back from Ella.

"Don't worry, I'm sure we will get her. We're a team after all!"

As Raven kicks down the door, we see the execution room empty. A little blood and there is nothing major. Walking past the seats onto the platform, Raven touches the wooden chair.

"Cold, it wasn't used."

"Of course it's cold, it's wood! You'd have to touch the metal to know if it was used." Rolling his eyes at Ella's comment, he tells her the wood would be warmed up from the circulating electricity if it was used.

But while they argue about that, I notice something more interesting. Blood. There's a lot of it, but most are dry. However, this puddle is fresh.

Raising my head, I see a volunteer falling from the ceiling at me. "Jesus!" Jumping back, I see a rope tied around his neck. His body is filled with countless cuts and stab wounds from a small blade.

*Bweeah!* While Ella pukes on the floor. Raven punches the wall. Causing six more dead bodies in a similar state to fall from the ceiling.

Starting to tear up, Ella asks why would someone do this. "Message, it's sending a message," Raven says as he touches the bodies.

[K-E-N-J-I-R-O] Is spelled out of the cuts and stabs on everyone's bodies.

"That's your full name isn't it?" Being stared at by everyone, I raise my hands. "I didn't do this!"

Shaking his head, Raven tells me that it's obvious, but whoever did this. Made it as a message for me.

Holding her mouth, Lucy says. "I think we should leave. Lucy is clearly not here, so how about we go home?"

"Leave? Home? Why?" Walking into our conversation, my blood freezes... No, it stops in excitement.

Cracking his neck, a thin man with a golden mask introduces himself. "Golden Peter, The Mistress's left hand." Bowing slightly, I take note of the thing blade on his waist.

"Jamese's failure to eradicate your dojo left the mistress very displeased. So on behalf of the lady, I'm here to finish it, Kenjiro." Snapping his fingers we see a guy in a golden half-mask carrying a beat-up Lucy.

"Lucy!" Marie almost jumps but stops at the man's gesture.

"But before we start, the lady has an offer for you Depraved. Take your Depraved friend and leave." Turning to Marie, I see her shake for a bit before her shoulders go limp.

"Sorry Ken, but you and I aren't that big friends. I barely knew you for 2 hours."

Pushing past me, she walks to the golden mask-wearing freak. Dropping Lucy on the ground, Marie lifts her underneath the shoulder. "Sorry Ken, I know of your problems with them, but that has nothing to do with us."

Carrying Lucy away, I yelled at her. "What do you mean?! I thought we just started to be friends! What about the waffles? What about the team!" Looking down at the ground, Marie walks away without saying a word.

"What about Uncle Raven?" Nothing. Lucy and Marie walked out.

Making eye contact with the golden-masked swordsman, he points at Ella. "You girl, leave." Turning to Ella, she starts to stutter. "I-I-I didn't actually didn't want to be here! I don't even know how to fight! Sorry, Ken!"

Bumping into me, she ran past the golden-masked guys away.

"But just for a second.... we were a team..."

Looking at the ground in disbelief, the man walks up to me. "Sorry, Ken. But people aren't as fond of you as you think. Everyone pretends to be nice to everyone during hard times. It's a survival instinct."

Raising his blade, he pushes it against my neck. "Bye-bye, Ken."

Splurt Instead of feeling the blade enter my neck, I see Raven holding the blade in his hand, blood pouring out of it.

"What is the meaning of this? You're a smart man, Raven. You know the odds are against you. So why are you stopping me?" Throwing his blade away from my neck. Raven smiles.

"He's a friend. Do I need to say more?"

Even though the golden mask hid the full face, the sheer confusion in the man's eyes couldn't go unnoticed.

"I'm a man who holds his words dear. For my words become my actions, my actions become my thoughts, and thoughts make who I am!"

Punching him away, he makes a blade out of ice and throws it at me. "Don't just stand there, this is our fight!" Wrapping my hands around the cold handle. I see Raven exchange first strikes with his ice staff.

Right, why does it matter how many friends I have if they'll all leave me in my time of need? I just need one true friend that will stick with me through it all!

Jumping to my feet with a smile on my face, the feeling of being betrayed disappears.
