Chapter 1 - transmigrated into the dungeon crawler

The day is February 3rd, 2023, 2:31 am. An average 16 year old boy with sleek dark brown hair and limestone skin named Finn Larson sits alone in his chair, reading a book. The book is named "Introduction to kendo''. Well, it's more of a reintroduction for Finn.

Finn used to learn kendo, he has long since quit, but he's still interested, and tonight seemed like the perfect opportunity for Finn to revisit his old interest. Though Finn wasn't very eager at first, he needed an extra-curricular, and he was beginning to enjoy kendo. though as he started to distance himself from people, he began to lose interest. he is now fascinated once again.

He glances up from his book he disorientedly meets face to face with a glowing flat blue screen. He flinches, with his mind a muddle he collects himself, "I must be tired, this can't be real." He squints his eyes to read the neat text on the screen. It displays:

"Hello, selected player. You have been chosen for a unique, otherworldly game. Would you like to participate? Yes, or YES!!!"

Finn stares blankly at the screen. He carefully extends his finger to touch the screen. He needs to confirm that he's not going insane. Tck. His finger makes direct contact with the screen, and he can hear a tapping noise. This is real. He's a bit scared, no, terrified, to be quite honest.

after a couple minutes of waiting, looking at the screen, it starts to slowly take up more and more of his vision. Everywhere he turned, it followed. Since there's nothing he can do but accept, he reluctantly presses the "YES!!!" button. DING! "Thank you player, for choosing to participate in our game! We hope you won't lose your mind too quickly."he ponders what that could mean as he suddenly loses consciousness.

His eyes slowly peel open, he is staring at a wooden ceiling. He is lying on a bed. He sits up hastily and scans the room. The room is quite barren, the walls are stone, there is one desk with nothing on it, and one chair. He takes a moment to compose himself. How did this happen to me, i must still be asleep. This can't be happening. Contrary to his belief, or rather his disbelief, he is certainly awake, and this is very real.

He would like to go back to sleep, or just go home, but there's nothing he can do but proceed. Still moderately drowsy, he sluggishly slinks out of bed. He trudged to the door, and right as he appeared before the door, another glowing blue screen popped up in front of his face, he stumbled backward, and hit his head on the bed frame. Thunk. "Gah!"

He stands up, holding his head. "shit" He once again approaches the door and begins reading the screen.

"Hello player! Before you exit your room and meet your friendly neighbors, please choose a starting loadout."

He was presented with the options of light (+10), medium (+25), and heavy armor (+45). Light being leather, medium being chainmail, and heavy being plated armor. Now Finn isn't exactly that strong. He's pretty average, for a 16 year old at least, so he doesn't expect to lug around plated armor. so he thinks long and hard before selecting light armor.

In a flash, his clothes disappeared, and in their place, leather armor materialized. Surprised, he looks down at his armor. He's beginning to wrap his head around this whole 'magical screen' thing, so he quickly composes himself and glances back at the screen.

"Thank you for choosing your armor, to continue choosing your loadout, you must open your menu. To open your menu, imagine a blue screen like this one appearing before you."

He opens the menu without fault. Before him is the choice of several weapons. There are weapons such as basic spears, axes, swords, daggers, bows and blunt weapons.

A certain weapon caught his eye. The katana, a curved single-edged blade with a squared guard and an extended grip. The weapon most prominently used in kendo. He selects the katana. DING

"Thank you, player for selecting your weapon! It has been added to your inventory, and you can equip it upon leaving the inn. Now you must choose 2 affinities. Affinities are abilities that will help you survive during this experience. The more you understand and use your affinities, the more they will grow. Truly, your creativity will be the only limit. You will now be presented with 5 randomly selected affinities. Have fun."

As soon as he finishes reading the lengthy explanation, five slots begin spinning on the menu, he begins to pray that he gets something good. The slots land on fire, gravity, electricity, earth, and healing.

"Hmm, gravity seems interesting. Ah, healing also seems pretty interesting, but I already chose a sword…Then fire? Well, electricity seems more useful… Maybe Earth? no, I think I'd rather go with electricity."

He then clicked both gravity and electricity. He quickly closed the menu before it could thank him again. Now, with nothing in his way, he opens the door. He doesn't know quite what to expect.
