Father Asher tried to focus his attention on the sword between his trembling fingers but alas, the sight of last night still flashes in front of his eyes and end up losing his blade every time he fights an opponent.
"If Hun were to see you in this state, he'll be disappointed in you" Saintess Jane stood behind Asher and watched the cold body on the bed. She sighed and put the food on the small table beside Hun's bed, "you need to eat something. Don't scare the poor little thing when he wakes up"
The Saintess walked out of the room leaving it in its silence. Father Asher glanced at the exhausted devil, he pursed his lips and clenched his fists.
Never in his life did he expect to relate to someone, and a devil at that! Through his life, he watched as people collapse and become one with evil, he watched them ruin their lives with their own hands; that's why he left at a young age to the church as it's one of the purest places in the world... or that's what he thought until he started interacting with the people working there and those who visit. Greed, one of the seven deadly sins, was there, he saw it. Not only it, but there was also lust too. He questioned the facts he read in books until he reached the conclusion, "bad deeds has always been there inside humans, it's them who decide to let them control them or not..."
And so they did...
Greed ate their lives
Lust ruined their insides
Pride separated them
Envy made them afar
Wrath killed their faith
And Gluttony destroyed their brains
But alas, Sloth birthed the worst...
Endless hunger of a mortal
No way to heal such immoral
His parents were no different.
His father did nothing but lay on the sofa, drinking and eating while his wife was working hard. His wife though, aka Asher's mother, was no different, on the surface she was the hard-working wife, the tired mother, and other names people came up with when witnessing such a pitiful woman working herself until she faints. For her, these words were her source of happiness, an endless desire to be noticed by everyone even if it's for such purposes...
Father Asher shut his eyes and took a deep breath in before he released it with a shiver coming after. When he opened his eyes again, he saw Hun looking at him, he gasped and jumped from his seat to go call the Saintess but when he turned to check on the devil, he saw his eyes closed, was it a hallucination?
"Haha" he let go of the broken chuckle in his throat and squeezed his eyes shut until the tears he held back started falling, he walked back to his seat and picked the plate on the small table. Slowly, he picked up the spoon and started to eat while tears streaming down and his snot struggling to go out but each sniff made it hard for him to himself back from crying more. He picked a tissue and wiped his nose before he returned to eating. He finished the plate's content and put it back on the black tray.
"When will you wake up?" His red eyes started to get tired, his tensed shoulders started to droop, and his heavy head started to lean on the bed.
Father Asher held Hun's hand and finally let his head lay above the cold hand. After much struggle, he gave up and let his eyes close to rest.
"Ther...? Father...?!" His vision was blurry, "Sher...!!!"
'Someone is calling me'
"Asher!"
'Ah! It's Hun... I... Need to...'
"Shhh, it's ok. You don't have to"
'But I want to, Hun...'
A faint smile was seen through the blurry creature in front of him, "then try to use your lips to talk Father, you don't need to talk to me telepathically" Father Asher opened his eyes and lips slowly. So he had them shut this whole time? Then why did it sound like both were open?
"Of course you would think so, Father" Hun looked up, "since we're in the no world"
"No... World?" Father Asher gasped before he started coughing, his voice was echoing that it scared him. He turned to look at Hun who was still looking around, "I wonder how you found your way here, Father?" Father Asher flinched and averted his gaze away from the devil in front of him. When he finally snapped out of it, he pondered but still couldn't find an answer for who? How? And even where is this place?
"What is this place and where does it exist?" Hun blinked a few times before he frowned, "no way you weren't taught about this place" Hun said in surprise, "this place is important, Father-! Ah... never mind, it's important for us and not for you mortals"
When he heard those words with the tired expression on Hun's face, his heart squeezed, the air became suffocating, and his mind was about to go hazy from confusion, but he collected himself fast and turned to look away from Hun.
'Why...?'
'Why is it that we are becoming farther from before?'
'Why are you pushing me away'
"Once upon a time," Father Asher turned to look at Hun again, his eyes were watery, and his fists were trembling, "there was an Angel loved by all. No one needed a reason to love that Angel because it was the cutest being to ever exist. They kept praising that Angel's cuteness and innocence since it was unique unlike the other Angels'..." Father Asher listened attentively but his heart couldn't calm down. He had a feeling something that shouldn't happen will happen if he were to take his eyes off Hun, so he gave him his full attention.
"The Angel... it was happy, but it was a well-known fact that happiness doesn't last forever when the devils meddle" Hun stopped talking to take deep breathes before continuing, "I don't know the details because my memories are still lost, but... there's a continuous pain the resurface whenever something happens, as if it's telling me that it all related, that it all had happened before"
"Hun?" The little devil turned to look at Asher with a sad smile making the latter shiver before he held him in his arms, close to his chest, ensuring he gets to hear his heartbeat for the sake of comforting him. Luckily it worked because Hun clung to him and started sobbing, "what am I?! Hic-" Father Asher held him tighter and remained silent letting Hun release the frustration he still held back.
"Really... what are we?" He mumbled. The vibration of his chest gave Hun a warmth he desperately searched for, but for it to come from a mortal is what made Hun cry more. If he's to return back and live forever in Heaven and by Archangel Uriel's side as planned, what about Father Asher? What will happen to him? Will they get to meet? Will his feelings for Father Asher... remain???
"Asher?" The young man flinched but hummed as a reply while patting Hun's back, "please don't leave me" Father Asher smiled then chuckled, Hun's face turned red and tried to hide it but when Father Asher fell on his back and Hun became above him, it was hard to hide his red face anymore, so he tried to escape the human's clutches yet failed.
"I swear on my mortal life, that I will always be by your side, until death do us apart" Hun blushed and started to hiccup, Father Asher blinked a few times before he started to laugh hard.
"Hiccup! STOP! Hic- Hi- La- Laughing at me!!!" That only made him laugh harder until he cried, "oh my God, Hun, bahahahahaahahahaha!!!!" Hun pouted with tears forming, the sight was supposed to make Father Asher worry but with Hun's flushed cheeks and messy hair, he couldn't help but smile before he held him closer.
I love you, Hun.
