Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Cecilia's POV:

By the time I make it to the scene, I find Amethyst battling a pink-haired girl in the sky. Before I can intervene, however, her opponent manages to best her and sends her blasting towards the ground. Speeding to intercept, I manage to get to her before she hits the ground. She's unconscious, but alive and should be fine with rest.

Handing her over to Childe, I order everyone to not interfere. This is one fight they won't be able to win and if they get caught in the midst of our battle, there'll definitely be casualties. I haven't lost a single one of my subordinates yet, even when considering the 10,000 humans soldiers, and I don't intend to start now.

Me: You must be Demon Lord Milim.

Milim: Oh? And who might you be?

Me: I'm feeling generous right now so I'll give you one chance to withdraw from our lands.

Milim: Your lands huh? This is my territory now!

She fires a few balls of pink light towards me but I dodge, keeping my distance. We repeat this for a few more minutes, all the while observing each other's motions but neither making any progress.

Milim: The least you can do is make this fun for me.

Me: Fun, huh. Have you considered that perhaps you are simply too weak to be worth the effort?

She fumes at this but I press on.

Me: After all, who needs all their strength to squash an annoying little flea?

Brimming with rage, she ups her attacks preventing me from taunting her further but I have a feeling she's still not taking this as seriously as she should. However, I can't quite blame her since all I've been doing is provoking her from a distance as I dodge her attacks.

Me: You know, you really are just as annoying as a flea. Never know when to give up or go away.

Try as I might to get her to continue speaking, she doesn't respond. At least, not with words. instead, I can only stand back and watch as her anger rises ad rises. Though I can't quite figure out which word got her angry in the first place. Was it the fact that I called her annoying, called her little or compared her to a flea?

Milim: I'm going to kill you.

Me: She speaks. I was starting to think all you were going to do is buzz from now on.

She charges me, eyes blazing with fury but this time instead of dodging I stand still, awaiting her arrival. This catches her off guard and she hesitates, for a split second but it's all the time I need. Vanishing, I appear right in front of her, pulling her into a kiss before she can react.

Lael: [Would you like to use Eye of Hera?]

Me: [No. Use subskill Tromázo instead.]

Lael: [Understood.]

She struggles to resist at first but my grip is strong and I hold firm, deepening the kiss with each passing moment. Eventually, her body relaxes as she seemingly gives in but the minute I loosen my grip, she kicks me off. The force of the impact knocks me back for about a mile but I expected something similar and had completely prepared. As I close in, slowly, I notice that her facial expressions keep switching between rage and utter shock.

Milim: What the he-

Me: Are you saying you didn't enjoy it?

She goes red for a split second before her anger takes over once more and she charges. Knowing that I've already won this round, I allow her to hit me while having Lael prepare for a small demonstration of our might.

Milim: Ugh. Why don't you just die already!

Me: Then who'd kiss you?

She stops, utterly caught off guard, yet again by my action and words but this time, instead of going in for another kiss I use the moment to launch a counter-attack. Right before hitting her, Lael separates from me in the form of a clone and we both swing a punch at Milim using our full strength.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

We aren't very close to the ground but as Milim blasts away into the distance, it's as though the very earth itself parts beneath her. I watch in amazement as trees bend out of the way to give her room to pass by. As she goes further away, she all but seems like a small meteor rocketing towards the Jura Forest. I didn't mean to punch her in that direction but it can't be helped now. At the very least, this should keep her out of the way for a while. I'm sure we'll meet again someday. After all, that was quite the kiss.

Lael: [Warning: A large group of monsters are approaching from the direction of Demon Lord Milim's territory.]

More fighting left huh? I suppose this will provide a good testing ground for my men. Still, I have to hand it to the enemy. If I saw my master get knocked away like that I wouldn't just go rushing in as an ordinary soldier.

Lael: [Multiple high-rank individuals detected.]

I see. So maybe this will prove fun after all. After all, following that exchange with Milim, I can't help but desire to play around just a tad bit longer. Then again, the whole point of bringing Amethyst along was for her to get experience. Oh, what to do what to do.
