Chapter 31 - Turning a Blind Eye

Jimaka cracked his knuckles and did some movements with his fingers, before going into a battle stance, his sharp eyes staring Lemogras down. The half-Saiyan faced his elder in a battle stance as well, as his eyes darted around Jimaka's body. He tried to find any openings at all, but there was nothing. It seemed that this'd be harder than he thought; only professionals were well-trained enough that their stance left no openings. He burst dashed towards Jimaka with lightning speed, which Jimaka anticipated.

Seeing this, Jimaka used the side of his wrist to block Lemogras' first attack, then grabbed his wrist and threw him to the side. He ran towards him and skidded behind him, and he then proceeded to kick the half-Saiyan in the head, sending him flying up in the air. Jimaka leapt upwards and readied a punch. He covered it with his ki, and gave Lemogras a hard jab to the cheek. Lemogras tanked it, but not without being slightly damaged due to its explosive manner.

In his right hand, Lemogras created a yellow ki sphere in his hand and prepared to blast it in Jimaka's face as a ki beam. However, as his hand approached his face, Jimaka slapped his hand away, causing the ki blast to land near the civilian area. The black Saiyan gut punched Lemogras, following up with a punch barrage to the gut. He high-kicked him in his face, before following that high-kick with a kick barrage. He spun around, and used his second leg - covered in explosive ki, of course - to kick Lemogras in the arm, shattering it. The half-Saiyan fell to the ground and stood up, clutching his left arm.

"For God's sake, why is it the left arm that gets broken?!" he shouted out, furious that he had to fall victim to a cheap shot like that. What a fool he was! to Jimaka frowned at the half-Saiyan, his arms folded in disappointment. He opened one of his hands, pointing it at him. He charged up a dark purple ki sphere with purple sparks coming out of it, increasing the size of it to a basketball. Lemogras pulled his right hand back and created a yellow ki sphere, then fired off a ki beam from it in an attempt to clash with Jimaka's blast. Jimaka thrust his hand forward and shot his blast at Lemogras, with the full-blooded Saiyan having the slight advantage over Lemogras. It seems that they're mostly equal.

Despite being relatively even, Lemogras is slowly closing the gap by putting more and more ki into his attack, which slowly pushed back Jimaka's ki sphere. Allowing himself to fully stop the blast, he exploded his own and dodged Lemogras' beam. His beam dissipated, and the half-Saiyan fired a blast into the ground to propel himself into the air. Being caught by surprise, he landed a clean punch on Jimaka, and followed it up with a kick barrage and a strike to the cheek. Jimaka was sent flying back, rubbing his cheek. He smirked, as he put out his hand, creating a ki whip. He whipped it and was able to ensnare Lemogras in its grasp, tightening his grip. It was as though there were knives digging into Lemogras' very skin and drawing blood. Crap! Were there spikes on the thong of this whip?!

"I bet you can't escape its grip without transforming into a Super Saiyan, can you?" Jimaka taunted, figuring that he was nothing without the transformation of legend. It would soon be revealed if he was right or wrong. Lemogras struggled to get out of it, his teeth gritting in pain and anger. Within seconds, he snapped it entirely, shocking Jimaka that he was even able to do that. "Since you brought up Super Saiyan, why don't I show you how far I've taken my transformation?" Lemogras said, with a smirk on his face. He immediately transformed into a Super Saiyan, with Jimaka doing the same. Jimaka dashed towards Lemogras, and Lemogras did the same towards him. However, for a split-second, it seemed like Lemogras got twice as fast and strong, almost immediately traveling the distance between the two. His fist was now implanted in Jimaka's gut, cracking his armor. He removed it, going back down to the regular Super Saiyan.

"That was only an eighth of my true power. Your jaw's gonna drop when you see what I can really do," Lemogras told Jimaka. Electricity generated around his body, as he transformed into a Super Saiyan 2. He furiously charged up his ki, not that his goal was to go into Super Saiyan 3, but it was merely a show of force, to intimidate Jimaka. He was generating powerful winds from his aura, which required Jimaka to block. Due to the dimension being shook as well, Taro ended up waking up from his unconsciousness via Pepkorn's hands. Once Lemogras felt that his power up was sufficient, he turned his aura off and went back down to base. Jimaka was genuinely surprised; he had no idea that there was anyone with that much power besides Taro.

At the same time on Earth, Pepkorn was looking for Baezel. He tried sensing his ki to teleport to him, but it was strange. Attempting to use Teleportation to get to him didn't work. Scratching his head, he tried sensing for the ki of the other Grand Battlers. If Baezel isn't here, surely the others would be in the same spot as him. But nothing. They simply couldn't be sensed. He tried teleporting to Enma Daio and sensing for the Grand Battlers while roaming Other World. Once again, their ki signatures were nowhere to be found in Other World. Where the hell were they? God probably wouldn't utter a word, but he couldn't risk torturing him either, since he might die and lose access to the Dragon Balls. A lightbulb then popped into his head - why not go to his wife?

In the yard, Dana and Okara were having a sparring match. The mother and daughter duo were exchanging fists, with Dana blocking most of her daughter's hits. Okara's hits were rather aggressive and had lots of raw strength behind them. Dana broke Okara's combo by spreading her arms out, and fired a kiai at her, shoving her into the ground. Okara got up and burst dashed towards her mother, who prepared for impact. She caught her fist, and it created a shockwave in the area, ruffling the grass beneath them. Pushing Okara away, she pulled her arms back and fired a barrage of ki blasts at her, which caused Okara to turn her aura on and manually dodge them all. While midair, she fired a weak Kamehameha at her mother, who was about to block it, only for Pepkorn to teleport in between them and tank it like it was nothing.

Dana's eyes widened in fear, while Okara was somewhat scared, but was a little confused. Unlike Lemogras, she wasn't alive when Pepkorn was, and Baezel never bothered to tell her about Pepkorn when asked who his dad was, only telling her about her biological grandparents. (those being Brokkli and Rutabe, Baezel's father and mother) Dana knew Pepkorn's ki signature all too well; she hadn't forgotten when he tried to get a double kill on her at the 23rd Budokai. "Pepkorn! What're you doing here?! Answer me, before I make you answer!" Dana arrogantly said.

Pepkorn rolled his eyes. Jesus, Baezel's wife is as dimwitted as he is. Eh, you know what they say, dull minds think alike. "If you genuinely believe that you can use force to make me talk, your idiocy is beyond repair. But I'll humor you. Where is Baezel and his band of merry men and one woman? And don't bother lying."

"I don't have a clue where he is. Anytime he goes anywhere besides where I send him, he doesn't tell me where he's going," Dana says. "I wanna say that's the one thing I hate about him, but honestly, I don't mind it that much. At least I can sense where he goes. This time, I don't know WHERE he's gone!"

"Goody! Thanks for telling me that you're useless alive and dead!" Pepkorn smiled gleefully. Turning to Okara, he had to get a second look at her just to compare. That's when he realized something. This was his granddaughter - or, at least, his step-granddaughter. Baezel wasn't his biological son, but he might as well be. "Pay good attention, lass. You'll be joining your mum soon enough, once I finish snapping your wee little necks." He pointed two fingers at Dana, and as though he fired a shotgun at her from point-blank range, a large amount of Dana's insides sprayed out from her back, as she fell to the ground, lifeless.

Okara, horrified at what she just witnessed, balled up her fists in anger and began powering up as much as she could to try and transform into a Super Saiyan, but Pepkorn merely frowned in disappointment. What a damn shame. Compared to her brother, she really DID suck. Why was she alive, even? Putting two fingers onto his head and thrusting them outwards, a weak Makankosappo was all it took to put a hole in Okara. With that, she dropped like a fly as well. This wasn't enough for him, however. After rummaging through the house for flammable liquids, he found oil and a match. With the oil, he wrote out: FIGHT ME, COWARD, and lit it on fire at Baezel's doorstep, before flying away and leaving.

With a cruel smirk, he raised his hand, palm facing the unsuspecting city below. From the depths of his dark soul, he summoned a condensed ball of ki energy, no larger than a single speck of glitter. Yet, within this seemingly insignificant fragment of power lay the potential to unleash unimaginable destruction. Like a nuclear warhead compressed into the size of a marble ball.

As the ki blast descended towards the city, it fell as though it had extreme amounts of weight behind it. In a heartbeat, the seemingly harmless speck transformed into a blinding inferno, engulfing the entire city in an instantaneous detonation. A colossal mushroom cloud erupted, its billowing smoke casting a pall over the once vibrant cityscape. The deafening shockwave rippled outwards, shattering buildings and uprooting trees in its wake. The financial toll was equally staggering, with hundreds of trillions of Zeni in wealth vaporized in an instant.

All that remained of the city after the explosion was merely an empty smoking crater. Pepkorn's face twisted into a demented smile. Utterly satisfied by the carnage he had wrought, he let out a maniacal laugh, his eyes gleaming with a chilling delight as he reveled in the chaos he had unleashed. And so, Pepkorn went on to the next city. However, it turned out he was close to a commercial airplane in the sky. This'd be perfect. It was as though it was begging him, praying for him to use it like his personal toy. He put out his hand, and stopped the commercial airplane from moving any further. With a flick of his hand, he swiftly dropped the plane to the ground, the aircraft spinning around like a fidget spinner. It landed smack dab in the middle of the street, creating an explosion and a subsequent large fire. Merely throwing airplanes out of the sky wasn't all he'd do. He pointed at the ground and fired a thin red ki beam at it, creating a gigantic circular explosion as a result. This beam was enough to completely eradicate this city as well, once again ending millions of lives and causing hundreds of trillions of Zeni worth of damage.

Pepkorn went on to destroy nearly every remaining city on Earth, waiting for Baezel to arrive and stop him. However, when he got to Gingertown, he wanted to do something different. He threw a Kienzan at a large building in the city, and right as it was about to hit a crowd of people, he teleported above them and held it up with his hand, "saving" them. The people cheered for Pepkorn, glad that he stopped them from being crushed by the half of a building. However, Pepkorn had a devilish smile on his face. This was an act of kindness with strings attached. With one hand, he tossed the sliced portion of the building high into the sky and blew it up with a Death Beam, raining burning debris and glass shards down on the populace. Some chunks of the building fell down on the ground and directly killed people, while others caused fires to spread. The Saiyan descended down into the street, as the city began to rumble.

"It sure would be a shame if I let out my ki in the middle of the road..."

The moment that he turned his aura on, it was as though every single nuclear warhead was fused together into the size of a large asteroid, and exploded. An enormous pillar of ki shot out from the planet, so large that it was the size of an entire continent. The shockwave rippled throughout the blue world, scattering parts of Earth into space and flattening most, if not all buildings. The planet now had a large, visible chunk of it completely gone, with Pepkorn standing in the middle of it. "BAEZEL! COME OUT HERE AND FIGHT ME! YOU CAN'T HIDE FOREVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!" Pepkorn screamed out, hoping that the man of the hour would come and do something, anything. Nada. Apparently, killing his family, destroying most - if not all - of Earth's cities and writing on your house with fire just wasn't enough of a motivator. There was also destroying Earth, but that'd be too boring, Pepkorn thought. What could he do to bring Baezel out of hiding?
