After the incident with Riser that would soon spread all throughout devil society, Damian was greeted by a few acquaintances and met many people he had yet to meet. Most were annoying, some were boring, and a few were interesting although it was unlikely he'd meet them again anytime soon.
However, after so much annoyance, the event was truly set to begin. Just like the event two years ago, Ajuka began the event with a crisp ringing sound echoing throughout the hall to gather everyone's attention.
"It's wonderful to see you all tonight. As much as I'd enjoy to speak about the impressive event, it is late and we're all incredibly busy people. For that reason, shall we begin the event?" Ajuka spoke, a polite grin on his face as per usual although it was much more forced than usual.
'He must be annoyed that he's been away from his lab for so long. Sucks that he's going to have to do it again for Diodora.' Damian thought to himself blandly, uncaring for his teacher and Uncle's dilemma.
Luckily, his dissatisfaction was hidden to the point where Damian could only notice because of the two years he spent 'learning' under him. To most others, he would appear just as he usually did. It might not be the same on the day of Diodora's version of today's event.
Diodora was a show hog, he didn't want to share the spotlight much less with three other people so he declined their invitation to have them together. It was an annoyance for Ajuka but Damian was glad he had refused. Even imagining Riser and Diodora in the same room annoyed him to no end let alone living through that accursed reality.
Regardless, after Ajuka's abrupt announcement his surroundings once more changed. Similar to the event where he gave out his gifts two years ago the surroundings abruptly changed as though reality itself was being deceived.
'How does he teleport things so smoothly?' Damian pondered, not all that impressed by the showing that he had grown so accustomed to. It was still impressive however even if he had learned that it wasn't the Kankara Formula in action.
In truth, Ajuka rarely utilized the Kankara Formula as he had no real reason too. For most things, it was overkill to even consider utilizing it. Damian had seen him create many miraculous things however he had only seen the Kankara Formula once.
And it changed his entire worldview. Such a simple demonstration stripped the complex reality they lived in bare and showed him the truth of it all. Naturally, he didn't understand anything but it was amazing.
Ajuka had explained how he created things out of nothing to him before however it was completely different to seeing it in reality. Ajuka simplified the process dramatically however he said that he utilized imaginary numbers in such a way that reality believed the 'negative' or the 'lie' was the 'real' or the 'truth'.
When Damian saw him do it, it felt like he had surpassed magic. He took nothing and made reality itself turn it into something. He tricked the universe using pure math and calculations to perform a feat no different from a miracle.
In that moment Damian couldn't help but think of him as a god though he quickly got over it. In this world where gods roamed freely, what did it matter if there was a Devil God or two running around? It didn't change his opinion of Ajuka at the very least.
In any case, where Ajuka once stood was now cleared of all tables and decorations, and in its place stood a large see through crystal that reflected the light in such a way that it created a beautiful illusion of stars glimmering in the empty light.
'Did he clean it or something?' Damian thought to himself, mildly amused at the different appearance of the crystal. Ajuka was a constantly busy man so his office was never really 'clean' and that included the famed Agares Crystal that gave birth to the Evil Pieces.
Usually, it was in a corner somewhere covered in dust and occasionally covered in random clothing that Ajuka had thrown around when he was particularly focused but still had to switch clothing for whatever reason. It was far from a pretty sight let alone one that could be born from the same source as the beauty he currently saw.
"Rias Gremory, would you please be kind enough to come up?" Ajuka requested, a polite but antsy smile on his face as he invited the host's daughter first. Naturally, it would be Sona next and him last.
Nodding her head seriously Rias quickly but gracefully made her way up to her Uncle figure, sweating slightly almost surely because of Grayfia's piercing glare from Sirzechs side. It was unknown to Damian when she had arrived but it didn't truly matter.
Gingerly nodding to Ajuka, nervousness boiling within her quite obviously, she pressed a hand on the human sized Agares Crystal. Instantly, almost as though it was being corrupted, the crystal was tainted crimson.
In the span of a single second, the crimson energy spread throughout the entire crystal before coming together in the form of a large sphere of dark, volatile energy. While it wasn't the actual thing, it was clearly the Power of Destruction.
'To think that it's so terrifying even if only the dregs of Rias. I don't even want to imagine what Sirzechs' Power of Destruction is like.' Damian thought to himself, his eyes completely locked onto the process.
The Power of Destruction was the most dangerous power among the entirety of the devil nobility's ability. With the power to destroy anything and everything in its path, it was a weapon of mass destruction. Of course, that was when it was trained correctly.
Damian would be the first to admit he had underestimated this fearsome power. Perhaps it was because he saw Rias releasing it freely in the anime but it didn't seem intimidating. Until now that is.
While he wouldn't test it, he could instinctively tell that if he were to grasp that energy, he would very quickly lose his hand. The energy before him was the byproduct naturally created by her demonic power, not the real power.
'What a terrifying power.' Damian thought calmly.
