Alastor didn't even manage to reach Moris before he was stopped by a barrier made of hundreds of thousands of hexagons, each one containing nigh infinite energy. Alastor's fist which was covered in more demonic energy than even Sirzechs had was stopped with ease, not even a dent forming on the barrier.
"Dear!" Astros shouted as her husband was sent skidding backward by the claw of pure energy that appeared from thin air. By overloading his body Alastor's strength was enhanced to the point that he could safely deal with even a Satan like Serafall but yet his chest was cut deeply and crimson blood flowed from the claw markings on his chest.
"Ah, I forgot about you. I'm afraid you aren't necessary." Moris declared calmly, a beam of concentrated light escaping from a cannon that appeared from the midst of the walls. The beam pierced Astros' chest directly where her heart was.
The scent of badly burnt flesh entered Damian's nose as his mother fell to the ground with hollow eyes. Blood slipped from her slightly open mouth as her limbs fell slack to the ground at her side.
Astros Thaumiel, formerly Astaroth, the mother of the now famous Mad Dog and mistress of the Extra Demon clans fell to the ground dead, her soul escaping her body to the realm of nothingness that awaited all devils.
"M-Mom?" Damian muttered weakly, his body shaking as his father roared in rage and explosions sounded around him. But to Damian, all the loud noises were barely above a whisper in his ear. All that he could hear was his own breath and heartbeat.
Slowly making his way to his fallen mother Damian gently nudged her like a child trying to wake their mother. She did not react. Falling down to his knees Damian placed his hand over her hole as though it would do something while whispering desperate please to her corpse.
But no matter what he did nothing changed. Her body was warm yet it rapidly cooled under his touch. Her eyes once filled with some much maturity and elegance were empty barring the overwhelming regret held within.
"Damian!" Alastor suddenly shouted, appearing in front of Damian with both his arms on his shoulders before he noticed. Slowly looking up at his father he saw his bruised and battered figure.
Blood leaked from every inch of his body with so much volume that it covered all his wounds. His clothing was long since destroyed and his right arm was hanging on from a single strand of muscle, his flesh wriggling around him in a vain attempt to heal it.
"Damian! You have to escape! I'll buy you some time so don't look back!" Alastor shouted, forcefully raising his child to his feet before pushing him toward the exit. Damian looked back for a moment but upon seeing his father's determination his legs moved on their own even as he begged his body to stay.
He ran and ran and along the way, his tears had dried up. After a few dozen minutes Damian found himself in a recognizable mansion. It was the main estate of the Naberius clan that occasionally held gatherings albeit rarely.
Wandering around the estate like a dead man walking, Damian found himself in front of two young girls. One was slightly older than himself with long black hair while the other was a year or two younger than him with short white hair.
Looking at them in a daze Damian made up his mind. Blood leaked from his nose as he momentarily unblocked his demonic energy production, a large magic circle containing the Thaumiel family crest appearing beneath his feet and spreading across the entire estate.
In front of his eyes, the two girls alongside all the workers and captives vanished, the only exception being those within the cavern the Thaumiel family had found themselves in. Rushing back down the way he came Damian and his enhanced body left nothing more than a pink blur in his path.
What took him dozens of minutes to do before took no more than thirty seconds as Damian once again found himself in the grave of Moris Naberius and Astros Thaumiel. However, it wasn't only their graves.
Laying on the ground with his lower half completely missing was Alastor Thaumiel, his still beating heart held within Moris' bloodied hand. Rage consumed Damian as he charged forward, the infinite energy of his soul flooding into his body.
"Oh? You've returned? How foolhardy." Moris declared casually, the hexagonal shield once again appearing before Damian however it was noticeably different. It was no longer only the deep blue color it began as gold and brown now swirled within it as well.
Soothing the raging waves of demonic energy ravaging his body Damian lived up to his name's sake. Utilizing his absolute control of energy he tamed the infinite energy born from his soul, his power soaring to unimaginable heights.
An enormous explosion erupted from the point of contact, blood alongside dust and debris flying into the air as the last Thaumiel's skin peeled and bones shattered from the energy it held however it was not without reason.
The hexagonal barrier had shattered into a million pieces. At least… some had.
"Oh? Your blood is much purer than your father's. How impressive." Moris duly noted as the hexagonal barrier was repaired within an instant. The hexagonal barrier was made from six dragon hearts, one soul with a similar effect couldn't hope to compare.
Not bothering to reply even as a wrath boiled within him Damian rained blows endlessly onto the barrier, his fist shattering and healing in an endless cycle from the infinite energy his soul produced.
Yet even as it healed it damaged itself irreversibly. The infinite energy filled his body to the brim and then some, the excess energy forcibly expanding his demonic energy reserves without a care for safety or stability.
It was an endurance race with both their lives at stake.
