Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

"So. How do you plan on dealing with it?" Ajuka asked seriously after they were done messing around. The issue he was speaking of was obviously his demonic energy being locked away. It was something akin to sealing away the future for a young devil.

Naturally, Ajuka had already planned on a few ways to create artifacts to mitigate the issue but not only was it impossible to completely fix but he wanted to hear Damian's answer. What answer would he receive from somebody so clearly outside the realm of common sense?

"Hmm? I've already fixed it." Damian revealed casually, his smirk revealing his nigh infinite amusement. Suffice to say, it wasn't what Ajuka had expected. Quickly placing his hand on Damian's head to clearly examine the connection point between the soul and the body which resided in the brain.

"You really did…" Ajuka muttered in a mix of amazement and desire. He was aware that Damian was extremely skilled when it came to control but he wasn't aware it wasn't to this extent. What Damian did wasn't something he could even dream of replicating.

Serafall had told him that Damian had temporarily altered his wavelength to rouse the soul of Ingvild Leviathan but he didn't think much of it. Ajuka could do it as well by tricking reality for a few moments and he assumed that Damian followed a similarly sly method.

But he was wrong.

Truly manipulating his wavelength was nothing compared to what he saw. It was something that not even, the seventh strongest being could do. Damian had forcefully slowed his soul's production of energy.

Most would simply limit the size of the connection point between the soul and the body in order to limit how much energy was transmitted, it was the process Ajuka was using as a foundation, but Damian didn't follow common sense.

It followed a similar principle to a sink. Rather than increasing the water pressure by getting smaller pipes, he added a faucet. With it, he could temporarily open the gate and refill his reserves whenever he pleased without overwhelming himself.

The process may sound simple but it was anything but. To add a faucet to his soul itself was nigh impossible but even if he could it would take all his concentration at all times. At least, it should have taken all of it.

Ajuka had extremely fine control over his demonic energy, it was a requirement for the Kankara Formula, but he still had to consciously command it to move. But apparently, Damian didn't have that flaw.

From the looks of things, it seemed that it would follow any order he gave it even if he wasn't constantly watching it. If he told it to stop flowing, it would and it wouldn't start again until he made it do so. It was a monstrous talent.

To compare it to humanity, it was like controlling your blood. With either tricks or talent people could somewhat control the flow of blood in their body but they couldn't stop it no matter what they did. It simply wasn't possible.

"Is it that surprising?" Damian asked innocently, a playful grin on his face that did nothing to hide his teasing intentions. He knew very well that he was odd, it was hard not to after an entire decade of having the power.

"Is this what you've been hiding from me?" Ajuka asked with a small chuckle. It certainly was quite the surprise. While its sheer power didn't quite compare to his or Sirzechs' own, his 'epiphany' was no different in scale.

Sirzechs prioritized power, he prioritized variability, and Damian had prioritized control. None was inherently better than the other but it was clear that Damian had followed in his footsteps. It was a pleasant surprise.

"Was Sirzechs more surprised than me?" Ajuka asked, a bit of playful rivalry from his youth showing. He and Sirzechs were at the forefront of every battlefield, to endure the blood filled years they competed with one another.

Sirzechs defeated a Satan's descendant so he defeated one and so forth. It was a neverending cycle that neither was willing to end. It was one of the only remnants of their youth and they could hardly abandon the origin of their friendship.

"He was. On the first day of our training I showed it to him and he was plenty surprised." Damian revealed with a small chuckle. It was part of the decision that encouraged Sirzechs to teach Damian how to fight in close quarters combat.

With his absolute control, it would be easy for Damian to recover the time lost from the six months of physical training. Sirzechs did seem a bit hesitant to abandon such a talent but with his lacking demonic energy, it was a requirement, not a choice.

"Hoho. Is that so? I'm excited to meet him again." Ajuka declared maliciously, an amused and sadistic grin on his face. When you have an advantage over your rival, push it relentlessly so that they fix it. If you get a bit of enjoyment out of it… well, that's just a nice bonus.

'Looks like even the most normal devil matured oddly.' Damian thought to himself in amusement. In the 'canon' and even in this timeline Ajuka had always seemed to be the most mature and well mannered devil king.

Falbium gave in to his sin at all times, Serafall was the peak of oddity, and while Sirzechs was mature it was clear to those who knew him even a bit that he was far from normal. His love for his sister alone was so strong that his wife had to be the one wearing the pants in the relationship to keep him in line. Luckily, Grayfia was good at that.

"Oh, that's right. Many people want to meet you. I've pushed away the Phenex clan for the time being so take your time accepting the wrath of those you love." Ajuka declared abruptly, his serene expression instantly replacing his sadistic side yet it still contained obvious amusement.

Before Damian could even make a reply, the door to his hospital room was slammed open and two people entered the room. One was serene despite his unusually chilling aura but the other one… she was a demon from hell itself.

"Damian Thaumiel!" Astros Thaumiel shouted angrily upon entering the room, a mother's righteous fury engulfing the injured boy who was frozen in abject horror.
