Chapter 3 - Ch3

Margo wouldn't be able to handle the bar as well as a private party, at least not alone. This was something I noticed between Margo and Riley. It was just another reason for Margo to be jealous of Riley. Riley was trusted to be here alone... Whereas Margo was still working on getting keys to the place. I nodded and gave Riley a grateful look since I was pleased with her. I almost favored her more than Margo. Especially after she betrayed me and slept with Nich as soon as I got her this gig.

"Thanks girl for watching the party for me."

"No problem, they've been easy so far."

"Oh, I'm leaving early tonight," Nich said quickly and I figured it was coming as soon as he interrupted us to talk. I knew this conversation was bound to happen sometime tonight, especially since he had the both of us in here- of course he would tell us right now.

"Am I closing alone?" Riley asked in disappointment.

I'm sure she didn't really mind.

She would get to do things her way and probably got out of here faster because of it. She also didn't sound sad about it so she was probably hoping he would be talked into leaving. Riley already knew about Margo and Nich. She had suspected it would happen the first time she met Margo. I had also agreed with her that Margo wouldn't be able to resist sleeping with Nich. She was an addict for causing trouble.

"Sorry," I whispered and shrugged.

This wasn't going to make me feel bad at all. No way was I staying behind tonight to help close. I didn't want to work all day! I also have plans. I can't stick around and lend her some extra hands. She's a big girl, she can do it alone. I stared down Nich as if daring him to ask me to stay and help close. Nich only eyed down Riley as if he was trying to apologize for ditching her here alone but it wasn't working. Instead she turned her attention to me.

"I don't expect you to stay," she assured me.

"Let us know when you go," I told Nich firmly.

I won, in some ways. I made eye contact with Nich. I wanted to keep up with where he'd be for my own reasons. Just in case I needed him I wouldn't be hunting him down if he had already left. I would either decide to call him or leave the problem for tomorrow.

"I'll flag you both down personally before I leave." I pulled Riley into the hall to get away from Nich and fake like I was dragging her off to go work. We slowed down when we were away from the manager's office. There was something new sitting on the back of my mind, what really caused her to show up late?

"Is there any real reason why you showed up late today?" I knew there could have been a better reason- but she wouldn't say anything in front of Margo if there was.

"N-no," she said quickly, blushing a shade the color of strawberries. She was lying to me! I gasped and yanked her arm slightly to tease her as I made her face me.

"What have you been up to?" I asked curiously. I have to get it out of her. But, she won't say it if she thinks she'll be overheard.

"I'll tell you about it later," she promised me as she pulled away. I lit up as I watched her leaving my side. I felt like a school girl excited about this new drama. Did something happen between her and Rowan finally? I know they've been flirting like crazy on his shifts.

"I'm gonna hold you on your word!"

I followed after her but only to cut off down the hall for the private room and went straight for the one my party would be in. It wasn't usual for me to have such powerful people in one party, let alone any. This would be the first for me. It was slowly dawning on me that if I made any mistakes here I could be kicked out of this pack. I would lose everything if I am caught before I succeed in my plan. I would have to be smart about how I do things. If there were any rivaling females in the party I would have to over pour their alcohol to get them too loose to recognize what my plans were with the Alpha. That was even if the guy shows. I had no confirmation he would actually come. Just Margo's word was all I had to go off of.

There are certain roles a pack must maintain, especially one as large as the one I live in. There are the following roles; The Alpha, Alpha Female A.K.A Luna, Beta, Gamma, The Rest Of The Pack, and the Omegas.

Rogues are pack-less wolves. They were troublemakers that sometimes snuck into territories and destroyed the system built. They were nomads.

The Alpha is typically male. He's the leader of the pack. He makes the final decision. He would always be our leader as long as he could transform and stay in power. His firstborn son would be our next pack leader.

The Alpha Female is usually under the alpha as a mated pair but at the same level of authority in the pack. Typically her main job is to secure an heir... and keep the Alpha happy.

This is why I wanted to have the Alpha's son. It wasn't because of the power that came with becoming the mother of the future alpha, but it was the money that came with it that interested me. I wouldn't ever have to work again. I would be set for life. I wouldn't become the alpha female, he would never accept me as his mate. Not as long as his true soulmate was out there somewhere. I didn't want the role anyway. I just wanted that money he could offer me.

Beta's are chosen by the Alpha, they're typically someone trustworthy and they often have a mated pair fit enough to be the 'second' beta. Which would be a temporary role if the beta couldn't do his job.

Gamma's hold political order when it comes to choosing an Alpha. They'll make the final say on who wins the Alpha title. Although it's usually the first born male since it's a hereditary role. Gammas are always the relatives to the Alpha families. Luna's family becomes Gammas to a pack once the mating ritual is completed.

The rest of the pack typically lived out their lives following these influential families. We had no problem living underneath in a normalized society. We were the back bone and the reason why the pack stayed alive.

Omegas we're at the bottom of the pack. They were always seen as weak cowards. They could shift into their wolves but they weren't strong enough to defend the territory so they were given roles around the pack lands to make our lives easier. Most worked under the Alpha family personally as in-house servants. It was the best way to keep an eye on them.

I took a deep breath before knocking politely. I felt a little nervous because I didn't know what I would find on the other side of the door. I went ahead and stepped into the room to go and introduce myself. It was required to announce with a knock before walking into one of the rooms.

Private rooms were lounges set up in dark lights. This one in particular was a classic modern style with a wrap around mirror to make the room seem bigger. A strobe light spun as the only source inside. It was easy to navigate with werewolf eyes because we had night vision. There was a custom made couch for the room that wrapped around the mirror. There were two big tables knee high for the drinks to be sat on. The room was soundproof with a jukebox that controlled the music for the room. There were a few hookahs sat up on the tables that contained a small dosage of wolfbane mixed into the normal tobacco products. It was complimentary to the room.

The scent of wolfsbane made it hard to concentrate sometimes for me. I would have to check in on them in a timely manner if I wanted to keep my senses under control. The wolfsbane given here was at a low dosage and was nothing like the extract I carried on me. All the wolfsbane in our hookahs would do is make a person happy. It would encourage them to have a good time while drinking. There wouldn't be any trouble out of the group.

There were a total of four males and four females when I entered the room and I almost felt like they were waiting for me. I bowed politely when their heads turned to look at me. I was looking at them as well of course. I instantly knew these people thanks to magazines. They were all famous in the area. Alpha Draegan was missing, I couldn't find his scent anywhere in the room. But, Beta Devan Norwood's scent was the first I would recognize. His scent screamed he was the one that held authority in the room. It was hard to be around since I wasn't used to such a smell.

Beta Devan Norwood sat in the center of his group. Devan was hot, probably the most good looking guy in the room. I could only imagine what Alpha Draegan looked like in comparison. Devan was better looking in real life vs the media I've only ever seen him in. He was tall like his friends and fit. It was expected since he was the beta, he must have been the strongest guy in the room. His muscles were showing through his thin shirt he dressed in for the event. I guess it was because he got hot easily. It was hard to look away from his chest thanks to the curves busting through.

He had a strong jaw line that curved his face into a strong shape. He was firm looking but it didn't match his happy attitude he had while he pushed back a shot of alcohol. There was a tray full of shots on the table for them, the scent giving away it was tequila. Lime and salt was set out as well in the center of the tray. Devan's hair was slicked back and looked like a dark brown in the lighting, it was too light to be black. I concluded that by matching his friend's hair color to his. He had gray colored eyes that made me wonder whose side of the family he inherited them from.

When I saw who he brought with it all seemed to make sense to me. This was casual. They were just together to have a good time. This wasn't for business but for pleasure. It means they would all over drink very easily. Arthur, Waylen, and Osiris were known best friends with the Beta, but I was sure they also were on the police force since they looked recognizable. I knew their names thanks to Margo constantly showing me pictures of the beta off her phone. They were in his social media as much as he was.

Anya Whitlock was a rare sight to see in public. But, here she was with her best friends out to drink and be served by me personally. I adored her, it was almost thrilling alone to see her here. She was very known as a fashion icon. Her trends set globally. She practically invented highrise back into fashion. She made it to where it seemed like it never went out of fashion. She looked like a younger Sasha Luss, who is a Russian model from the 90s and so on. She was fair skinned with cotton-candy blue eyes. I don't know if her hair was natural but it was cut short high off above her shoulder in golden locks. She was young, maybe 19, looking. I suppose Sasha Luss was her inspiration indeed. Anya was mine.

Anya was tiny, as in she was thin for her age with an impressive height of 5'10. Anya was best friends with Larisa and I recognized them immediately because of how famous they've become together. Anya was always seen with Larisa.

The Whitlocks themselves were known for being powerful lawyers in today's society. The Whitlocks represented our Alpha family during trying times. Anya was probably hanging around to try to catch Alpha Draegan's attention. Sadly, she would become my competition instead of an ally.

Larisa Anderson was Beta Devan's fiance. She was gorgeous to say the least. They sat together as if they had already made things official. She seemed natural beside him. She was a very good knock off of Archana Kumar who is a lovely Bangalore woman and one of THE top ten models in the world. Larisa had this distinct look about her that was lovely. She had curly natural dark hair resting just above her mid-sized breast. She had fulfilling lips and she dressed like she came from wealth. I don't even recognize half the name brands she represented on her social media accounts. This was all because Anya probably personally designed every outfit she wore.

It was because she did- in fact, come from wealth. Larisa came from another pack at a younger age. It was all over the news when she was taken into Beta Norwood's household. She was a treaty peacemaker, another Beta's daughter. She is to be married to Devan if they cannot find their soulmates by her 25th birthday. Larisa is only 24. Odds are... she will become this pack's second Beta. I pity whoever they are mated to. If they're late, they'll be rejected.

I HAVE to get these girls drunk in order to do anything I want if tonight is MY chance to get with Alpha Draegan. Where was he? Was he late?

Yuri and Violet were recognized as friends that were associated with Larisa. They were here for a good time as well but knew their place. So they were flirting hard with the available men in the group. It was obvious they knew they couldn't hit on the Beta, not with Larisa around.

I only had one thought remaining about the group…

Where is the alpha?
