"Hi, my name is Claire and I will be your server tonight. Is there anything I can catch you guys up with? Any adjustments to the room I can make for you?"
I was pissed. My emotions were growing high as I was beginning to realize it was all a ploy for Margo to get off tonight and have me cover her. The Alpha wasn't coming here. Why would he come here of all places? She had lied to me to get off and my boss was taking off to go fuck her, obviously. I was such an idiot. I wanted to run away and cry in the bathroom but I held my smile and covered my emotions from the group with a sense of false happiness. I couldn't spoil their fun. It wasn't their fault I failed for Margo's lies.
"Another round for the group and bring the ladies something to chase those with," Beta Devan ordered me without hesitation. His happy go lucky smile turned upside down with my presence. As if I disappointed him or even ruined the fun for being here. I felt hamiliated and disgusted at the same time. I realized there was a bit of snob hidden in his personality that was never disclosed on the magazine covers. HE was not as charming as I imagined. It was a good thing I didn't want him. Not in the same way I was expecting the Alpha to be here. I nodded and blushed his way.
"Yes sir. And, may I add it is an honor to have you here tonight." I would have to kiss ass to get my tips tonight. "I will get those for you immediately," I promised him as I picked up the empty shot glasses to take with me and left the room to let them have some privacy.
MARGO.
I marched towards the bar to throw the shot glasses in a miniature sink. I was seeing red. My anger was shifting me into the beast under the moon. My rage was thinning to the surface. I had to find control over myself if I wanted to get through the night and still have a job to go to in the morning. The shot glasses made a splash from the impact and startled a few people sitting at the bar. I wined quietly and rubbed my eye as some got inside it. Riley was by my side fast and handing over a clean towel.
"Did something go wrong?" She asked in shock. Yes, Margo was to blame. "Did they say something? Should I go ask Nich to handle them?" I shook my head as I took the towel to dry off my eye. I sighed with aggravation. It had nothing to do with the party. Even if it did have something to do with the way I was treated.
"It's just Margo," I said under my breath.
I wouldn't call out the BETA of our pack for being rude. It just wasn't worth the problems that would arise later. Riley nodded her head as she realized exactly why I was irritated, Margo got me into this mess. I began to wash the shot glasses and sat them out to dry before rinsing my hands.
I took a few off the dry rack to replace those and sat them up to pour tequila shots to bring them. My quiet conversation was held with Riley as she kept cutting glances my way but went back to satisfying her bar guests. I made the girls some sprites for chasers in hopes that would satisfy them. I headed back to the private room and knocked politely before entering. They were having a mini-karaoke session where Yuri was singing with Waylen. It was like opposites attracted the way they were solar opposites. They both sang horribly and had the room laughing. It was a better atmosphere and I was determined to be in-and-out hardly noticed.
I sat the girls drinks down on their sides and gave them straws incase they'd be interested. The shots went in the middle for an equal reach. Anya seemed to not be interested in participating in karaoke. Instead she watched me closely and took her glass directly as well as a straw. I wasn't sure if it was because she was being overprotective or just annoyed with me. Her face was pale with little to no emotions coming off her. I avoided looking her way as I felt self conscious all of a sudden. I stood off to the side to hear the rest of the song and clapped. They crowded together to do a shot as they raised the glasses and took it at the same time.
"Keep these coming," Larisa told me as she waved the shot glass at me. "ALSO BRING US SOME FUN DRINKS!" Her voice got annoyingly loud as she leaned in towards Anya to use her shoulder as a pillow.
"There is another group member coming in later. WIll you make sure he finds his way back here," Beta Devan asked as his mood seemed to have changed. I chopped it up as the liquor was an influence. "You'll know when you see him." Larisa put her hand on his thigh and slid to the edge of her seat. I caught Anya looking curiously towards Devan as if she was making sure she heard him clear. But, she wasn't able to question him since Larisa would change the subject. I was just as surprised by Anya.
"I think Devaaaan should sing next!"
Does this mean... he's coming after all?
I took that as my cue to leave the room. My mood lightened up as I marched back to the bar in excitement. This night might be worth saving after all. I saw a familiar face suddenly sitting at the bar and had to stop in front of him as I grew a larger smile. It happened to be the guy from before that I helped bring in.
The guy was dressed in a leather jacket that made my eyes instantly draw to him. I don't know what it was about the material but I admired it everytime. It wouldn't matter who wore it. He was the mix of a spanish model. With dark European hair and eyes that drew you in. He gazed with eyes that felt like they were going inside you. His face lacked emotion until our eyes met. I was frightened at first by the flick of emotions he held in his face. He couldn't be dominant enough to be the alpha. It was insane to think of him as a match to Draegan.
This guy had a five o'clock shadow and messy hair that curled from drying in the temperatures of our cold bar. It was like bed head to the max. He looked like he was ready to go but he was here for one last thing. He wasn't at the bar a moment ago, or he would have caught my attention. He was looking directly at me as he held a smile on his lips now. I could feel Riley staring us down from the other side of the bar. I knew she was on the edge of her last nerve near him.
"I heard your name is Claire?" He asked me as he tapped an empty glass in his hand. He looked like he had been standing for a minute here waiting. He was leaned over but shifting his weight on his feet and almost tempting to sit down for a second. I could tell the small things about drunk people. He was definitely a few drinks in but still sober enough to remember a conversation like ours.
"You're that lost boy from earlier right? What're you doing here lost boy, picking up Wendy?" The rain had masked his scent but now I was able to pull it from him being so close and across the bar from me. He was single which alerted me he might be wanting to return the kindness he received from earlier. His scent was hard to read unlike most regulars. My mouth watered at the sweet scent he gave off. It was too tempting. I was almost ringed in. I liked to play hard to get with guys like him. It was like his scent was masked by a perfume of some sorts, so I knew it was better not to go home with him tonight. It made me uneasy despite his good looks. What could he be hiding?
"I'm just waiting patiently for you, Wendy." He tapped his glass to alert my eyes to it. He was quietly saying he wanted a drink. I laughed as I glanced at Riley from the corner of my eye. I could tell she was waiting for my cue to see if he was disturbing me or not. They had obviously already talked before. I winked her way to tell her I could handle it. Riley wouldn't just let him stand like this. She'd already have his order made and handed to him. He had requested me personally.
"Is that right? I'm going to be here all night. You'll have to settle for less. So, what can I get for you instead?"
"Your number, so I can pick you up when you're free Wendy!"
"We don't offer that here," I warned him playfully.
"That's ok. I wasn't looking to buy anyway," he said as he slid his empty glass my way. "I was hoping to take you out. I can't ask without some way of getting in contact with you." I giggled happily as I shook my head.
"Maybe next time Captain Hook, I'm waiting on Peter's personal flight assistance." I warned him as I held up the glass and twisted it around. "What were you drinking?" The scent told me it was one 'old fashion'. I liked his taste in drinks. It was strong but casual to me.
"Ah~ I'll come back when I get a better disguise," he promised me. "I just want to close my tab out for now." He didn't even look fazed by me turning him down. He looked confident in coming back to keep pestering me with the same question in a new way.
I smiled as I walked up to the register to look for his tab that was made. It would have his card and ID in the register on hold and I would be able to have his name that way. Vincent Cooper, the only card on file that had an ID that was obviously a fake to my eyes. But, It matched his appearance and the picture was accurate. He was definitely over the drinking age so I didn't understand why the ID was a fake. I handed it back to him after charging the card and held it out as well with a pen and receipt for him to sign. He scribbled on it as I patiently waited for the paperback. He held it up with a number attached to it under the tip.
"Call me," he said as he waited for me to grab it. The tip was three times the price of his bill. I stayed calm as I pocketed the receipt and he held out the second that was the tip without the number. "Anytime you're free." He backed away from me with a huge smile across from his lips. My heart fluttered as he turned to leave. I couldn't say anything as I watched him leave. I felt my arm get yanked as Riley took the paper from me to check the tip as soon as he was out of our sight.
"WHO IS HE?" She asked in a panic. "I've been trying to pull his name up all night! He's not in any articles."
"That's because the ID was fake," I told her as I felt my face getting red.
"You look hot, you should go cool off in the walk-in," she suggested as she went toward the register to put in the tip.
I might have to go to the bathroom and rinse my face with some cold water before I do anything else with the party tonight. That was too much for a girl to handle. I snapped my head out of it as I remembered the request the party made of me earlier and the reason I had came out here.
"The party I'm taking care of is still waiting for a member so please help me keep an eye out for him. We'll know when we see him is what they told me."
"Sure!" She called back to me. I began working on those drinks that got delayed. My mind hoping to find tonight wouldn't be any more disappointing as it had started out to be. I was already lucky to have Vincent's number.
