Chapter 19 - The Riddle iv

Gundamma made his way to Medanna's throne room, his heart heavy with the knowledge of his failure to retrieve the Staff of the Death. As he entered the room, he found Medanna sitting on her throne, surrounded by her minions, her eyes blazing with anger.

"Gundamma, you have failed me," Medanna growled, her voice echoing through the room.

"Do you have any idea the consequences of your failure?"

"My queen, I am sorry," Gundamma replied, trying to keep his voice steady.

"We encountered unexpected obstacles and were unable to retrieve the staff."

Medanna stood up from her throne, her eyes blazing with wrath.

"Unexpected obstacles? That is no excuse for failure! I have entrusted you with a mission and you have failed me!"

Gundamma flinched as Medanna's minions stepped forward, their weapons raised. He knew that her wrath was feared by all who served her, and that he was not likely to survive this encounter.

"You have disappointed me, Gundamma," Medanna continued, her voice cold and menacing.

"And for that, you must be punished. Take him away and make an example of him. Let all know that failure is not tolerated in my army."

Gundamma was dragged away, his screams echoing through the throne room as Medanna watched, her eyes still blazing with anger.

"You. You will retrieve the staff from Orin. And you will bring it to me, or face the consequences," Medanna commanded, her voice cold and menacing.

The werewolf king's heir nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. He knew that failing Medanna was not an option. He turned and quickly left the throne room, determined to succeed where Gundamma had failed.

Medanna watched as the werewolf king's heir left the throne room, a sense of satisfaction in her heart.

She was confident in his abilities, and she knew that he would not fail her like Gundamma had. She sat back on her throne, her eyes narrowing as she thought about the situation.

Her wrath was not something to be taken lightly. It was a force to be reckoned with, a tempest that could destroy anything in its path. And she was not afraid to unleash it on anyone who dared to cross her or fail her.

As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, she could feel the power within her growing, fueled by her anger and determination.

She closed her eyes, taking deep breaths to calm herself, knowing that she needed to be patient. She had waited for centuries for this moment, and she was not about to let anything stand in her way now.

With a final deep breath, she opened her eyes and stood up, her eyes blazing with determination. She knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but she was prepared for it.

She was Medanna, the Queen of the Night, and she would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

As the werewolf king's heir approached the temple, he could sense the immense magical energy that surrounded it. The temple's barrier was strong and powerful, but the werewolf was determined to break through.

He called upon the full strength of his werewolf powers, letting out a blood-curdling howl that echoed through the surrounding forest.

The temple's barrier began to waver, crackling with energy as the werewolf's attack intensified. The magical energy around the temple pulsed and surged, growing stronger with each passing moment.

The werewolf king's heir continued to howl and attack, his claws and teeth tearing at the magical barrier as he tried to break through.

Suddenly, there was a massive explosion of magic, and the barrier shattered, revealing the entrance to the temple.

The werewolf king's heir stepped forward, his eyes blazing with determination, as he prepared to face whatever lay ahead.

As the werewolves closed in, Ein and Orin sprang into action, their weapons at the ready. The werewolves were powerful, but the duo was determined to defend the temple and protect the artefact.

"We have to hold them off!" Ein shouted as he swung his sword at the first attacker.

"I've got a trick up my sleeve," Orin replied, his eyes glowing with magic as he summoned the undead with the Ring of Necromancer. "Let's show them what we're made of!"

The werewolves were taken aback by the sudden appearance of the undead, giving Ein and Orin a moment to catch their breath. But the respite was short-lived as the werewolves regrouped and continued their attack.

"We're not going to make it," Ein grunted as he parried a blow from one of the werewolves.

"Are you going to die Ein?" Orin joking, his voice steady as he unleashed another wave of magic.

"Didn't know it was this fast. By the way, it was nice to meet you."

The battle raged on, with neither side gaining the upper hand. But just when it seemed like all was lost, the barrier flickered back to life, its power strengthening with each passing moment. The werewolves, sensing their defeat, retreated, leaving Ein and Orin victorious.

"That was too close," Ein breathed, his sword arm shaking.

"And here you are. Still alive. " Orin smiled, his eyes still shining with magic.

"Don't give up so easily shall we."

The next morning, as Orin, Zarr, and Ein were preparing to continue their journey, the Keeper of the Temple approached them.

"You three have proven yourselves to be brave and worthy warriors," he said.

"And as you leave this temple, I have some words of advice to offer you.

"Orin, your power is great, but do not let it consume you. The Ring of Necromancer is a powerful artefact, but it can also be dangerous. Use it wisely and for the greater good, not just for your own selfish desires."

"Ein, your sword is a symbol of your strength and courage."

"But remember, sometimes the greatest battles are not fought with weapons, but with words and actions. Use your strength to protect those who cannot protect themselves."

"And Zarr, my young friend, your bark may be loud, but your bite is even louder. You are a fierce protector and a loyal companion."

"But do not let your loyalty blind you to the truth. Always be on guard and use your instincts to guide you."

The Keeper of the Temple stepped back and looked at each of them, his eyes filled with wisdom and understanding.

"May the gods be with you on your journey," he said.

And with that, the three of them set out once more, armed with the knowledge and guidance of the Keeper of the Temple.
