Chapter 50 - Hurt & Jealousy

Her pupils dilated a bit as she stared at him.

Kai didn't explain or correct himself, he had no intention to do so.

She WAS his Bebe, at least to him.

"Do I have your attention now?" He asked without looking away from her.

She didn't respond..... She still stared with slightly dilated pupils. Her eyes started a bit from his eyes and didn't return.

Suddenly, she broke eye contact, coming back to her senses.

"Yeah, sorry I was..... Distracted

What were you saying?" She said shaking her head as if trying to manually remove thoughts from her head.

She seemed fine but inwardly, Bebe was flustered as hell.

Bebe's POV

Kai was speaking to me, but I wasn't listening to him.

I couldn't hear him, maybe I just didn't want to hear him.

I paid full attention to the other table and enjoyed listening to their conversation.

I could hear Kai say something over and over again, but I didn't know what it was.

I didn't want to know.

"Earth to my Bebe" I heard him say clearly.

Now THAT had gotten my attention.

I turned immediately to look at him, waiting for him to apologize or take it back.

Instead, he just stared into my eyes in a defiant manner, as if telling me he wasn't going to do what I expected him to.

My lips parted slightly to take in more air because I felt hot, the temperature went up in a matter of seconds.

I stared back at him..... Neither of us backed down.

Unlike me, he was composed and ready to stare all night.

I felt bare in front of his eyes, those eyes.

They were the most extraordinary colour, a gradient of hazel, forest green and brown.

He said something that I didn't pay attention to.

My eyes moved to his perfectly chiseled nose and then his lips.

They looked so soft and ohhh what I'd want them to do to me.

I wanted to feel them on my fingers and on mine.

I was too flustered, I could feel my cheeks get warmer.

I blinked a couple times then broke eye contact.

Where were all these thoughts coming from?

"Yeah, sorry I was... distracted. What were you saying?"

I tried shaking my head to get the thoughts out.

"Oh please, let these thoughts go away"

I prayed silently to any higher power around.

I knew I couldn't focus with these thoughts and knowing Kai, he'd notice soon enough.

"I was asking if you wanted to go home" he said.

"Ohhhh, no I'm okay" I responded quickly.

My goodness, did he think I didn't want to be around him?

I did, but with the way my heart was palpitating, and how much wine I have had, I was sure to do something crazy if I didn't get home soon.

"But.... I am tired" I added smartly.

"You should've said so earlier, let's go" Kai was on his feet, startling me.

I gasped and placed my palm on my chest, "oh you scared me"

"I'm sorry" he said without emotion, waiting for me to stand.

I got up and was about to speak when he walked away.

What the hell?

Did I do something to him?

I walked out of the restaurant by myself and tried to locate the car.

I couldn't identify it.

I turned around and saw that he wasn't still out of the restaurant, so i walked back to see what was holding him up.

I stopped when I saw him through the large glass window.

He was with a lady, a beautiful one.

She was giggling and I noticed how his movements and mannerisms we're extremely smooth.

The lady reached out and held his forearm whilst giggling. He didn't reject her touch, instead he smiled back.

I stood on the spot, rooted, watching the scene before me and for some reason, I was unable to move away.

.....

Then suddenly the lady gasped and leaned in, standing on her tippy toes to whisper something in his ears.

And his smile broadened, they were wide enough, exposing his pearly whites.

It had been so long since Bebe saw Kai smile with other women, that is if she had ever seen it before. She hadn't.

He looked so relaxed and natural, like he was doing something he was extremely used to.

Was that how comfortable he was with her?

She felt a tightness in her chest, she didn't like the scene before her and the tightness she felt.

"Earth to my Bebe" she sarcastically mimicked him under her breath and rolled her eyes.

"I'm not your Bebe if you're our Kai" she murmured, turning around.

Taking a little peek, and still seeing them look so couple-like, she sighed.

"Maybe you were just her Kai in the first place"

Why did she feel so down?

She just got divorced and felt nothing too extreme and here she was frowning over a scene of her friend with another person. And also feeling like ripping the girl's face to pieces.

She was upset and decided to go home by herself.

Bebe stoped a taxi and got in.

She took out her phone and texted Kai,

"I already left btw, goodnight"

She turned it off and sighed deeply, Hoping to get home as fast as possible so she could sleep and forget.

...

In the bar,

Viola was talking to Kai. They were catching up and it was fun for them both.

She was an old friend from school, and had been there when Kai went through trying times. And she watched him overcome them one by one.

She was in awe of him. She had always been.

While they spoke, they reached a point of no words, just smiles and reminisce.

She excused herself for a moment, leaving Kai by himself.

Kai's phone beeped and he checked.

It was a text from Bebe.

His eyes rose, looking through the glass window to see her.

She wasn't there, so he opened the text.

"She went home?" He muttered under his breath with a frown.

He became restless, why did she leave?

He was going to take her home.

Viola returned smiling, but was met with a restless Kai.

"Kai what's wrong?" She asked.

"I have something urgent to attend to right now"

"Ohhh, that's too bad. Can I have your number? We could catch up some other time" she beamed at him.

"Sure thing Vee" he responded and gave her his number.

Her cheeks were so rosy and full of life.

She was so happy to have met Kai here and secure his number as well.

Today was the best day ever for her.

They said their goodbyes and Kai hurriedly left.

He located his car quickly and drove out of the parking lot of the bar.

He couldn't understand why she just left like that.

Was something wrong?
