I blink for a second when I see the massive city in front of me. I can see walls surrounding the city and three ships leaving the dock. It is so different from the one in the game.
"Is this the first time you are here?"
I look at Carcette and nod my head.
"Yeah, and it is a bigger city than I imagined."
"Of course. Dawnstar is a port city that gets a lot of traffic from Solitude and Windhelm. Not only that, Dawnstar is also the main food supplier to Winterhold, you know? Without Dawnstar, Winterhold would not survive alone, as Winterhold did not have a good relationship with Windhelm."
"Oh? Why? Why didn't Windhelm have a good relationship with Winterhold?"
"It is not a bad blood between Jarl, but rather the people in Windhelm did not trust the College of Winterhold."
Carcette shakes her head and says.
"It is the Nord and their distrust of magic, you know? I think it will get better for them."
"Hmmm? Why?"
"The Archmage of the College changed. Now, the Archmage is a Nord. The Dragonborn, in fact."
That means the MC already completed the College's mission, huh? That means he is now the owner of the Staff of Magnus. In the game, it is a good staff to use, especially when facing a non-magic enemy, as my character cut their health by twenty points every second as they did not have a lot of mana in them.
"I don't think it will change much, right? Nord still distrusts magic."
"That is true. However, it is a start, you know? At least now, with how the Dragonborn is the Thane of Winterhold and Archmage of College of Winterhold, the relationship between Jarl of Winterhold and the College will get better, and they can think of a way to make Winterhold a better place."
"I hope you are right."
After walking for another five minutes, we arrive at Dawnstar's gate, where one of the guards looks at us with a big smile. I see a Nord man wearing the leather armor of a city guard in the game walking forward and saying,
"It is nice to meet you once again, Vigilant Carcette."
"Ah, Erlom! How is your wife and daughter, my good man?"
"They are doing great, Vigilant. After you heal them, they are doing great."
"Good! I am happy to help your family."
He smiles, looks at me for a second, and says.
"Do you come here to buy more supplies, Vigilan Carcette?"
"Sadly, no. Our headquarters gets attacked by two dozen vampires, the only people left. If not for my friend over here, our honorary member of the Vigilant of Stendarr, we would have died in that battle."
Erlom's face turns serious, and he says.
"It looks like we need to increase the patrol. Do the vampires know you are coming here, Vigilant?"
"Ah, you did not need to worry about them. They are dead. Ryan over here manages to kill the remaining vampires. However, I do agree that you need to increase your patrol from now on."
Erlom nods his head and says.
"And I shall inform the Jarl about this. Thank you, Vigilant. Lately, there have been a lot of things that have disturbed our peace. Daedric Artifact, Dragon, and now vampires."
"I know how you feel, my friend. Don't worry. We will help you and the people of the Pale. This is the least we can do after the Jarl gives us his land to make our headquarters."
"Thank you. Please come inside. Windpeak Inn has a lot of warm food for you and your group."
Carcette nods, and we walk through the gate. I look to the side and say.
"Where do you want to stay?"
"We will go and stay in our safehouse in Dawnstar. We will stay there for a month or two until our headquarters is done fixing. What about you?"
"I need to go to the General Store and see if I can sell them something so I can get a room in the inn."
She nods, takes out a pouch from her bag, and gives it to me.
"Take this."
I blink and open the pouch to see golden coins inside the pouch.
"I cannot take these coins!"
"Take it. You deserve that amount of money. I cannot leave our savior broke, right?"
I look at her for a few seconds and nod.
"Thank you, Carcette."
"Think nothing of it, Ryan. Go to the Windpeak Inn, the oldest and the most well-known inn in the pale. You see the building over there, Ryan? That is the inn. Just follow this road, and you will arrive there."
"Thank you, Carcette."
"Bah! You like to thank people, huh? Anyway, if not for our current situation, I would be the one thanking you by sucking your cock."
I choke some air at her words, and I can see him and the other Vigilants of Stendarr laughing.
"What? Are you some pure boy, Ryan?"
"What? No!"
"Then it is not a problem to fuck with me, no? Before I became one of the Vigilants, I was a devout follower of Dibella and a Service Woman of Dibella, you know? I give pleasure to lonely men who need love and are not married for a donation."
What the hell is that?! That sounds like prostitution! However, I decided to hold my tongue when I registered her words. I don't know if she is some kind of priestess for Dibella by the title of her previous job, and I did not want to offend her.
"I am sorry, but I am married."
"I see. What a shame. Your woman is lucky to have a handsome and strong man like you, Ryan."
"No. I am the lucky one. She is the pillar that lets me move forward and the one that gives me a beautiful life."
Carcette nods her head and says.
"I see. Take care of her; it is more reason for you not to be blinded by your revenge."
"Of course."
"Right! We will unpack our things first. I will visit you in Windpeak Inn at noon."
"Of course. See you later, Carcette."
Carcette nods, and we get our separate ways.
