Chapter 128 - Chapter 128

"I see. That is fascinating."

"Go on, try it."

I nod and take a deep breath. I let my mana flow and let it create a pattern using my mana in the palm of my hand. A second later, I can see a ball of light appear on my right hand. I can see a pattern of a star inside the ball of light.

"Perfect! That spell is called [Healing], the most basic spell in the Restoration Magic School. It is not the best restoration spell, but it is good enough to heal an arrow injury or the like. However, healing wounds is not the only thing Restoration magic can do. You can use it to destroy undead like vampires and draugr. Restoration is a magic that is full of life, something that all undead hate. Here, take this book. There are a lot of spells in that book for you to learn. Tell me if you have any questions or something you did not understand."

I take the book and say.

"Thank you for this, Carcette."

"Don't mention it. As long as you care for the book, we are good."

I give her a nod and say.

"What do you want to do after this?"

"Hmmm? I have already told the local carpenter and mason to rebuild our headquarters. I think I will start to investigate the Daedra Cult near Dawnstar."

"Daedra Cult?"

"Yes. Take a look at this."

She takes out a journal and says.

"One of the Vigilants got killed by a cult from Dawnstar, and at the moment, two of the Vigilants have already been investigating this case for the past three days. However, they come out with nothing. We are searching for someone who carries an Elven Dagger with an enchantment. We thought that it should be easy as enchanted weapons are rare, but we were wrong. Azarain wrote that he suspected three people, but those people did not give him anything. If you know something, please tell me."

Wait. I know this quest. Let's give them some information without raising some suspicion.

"Elven Dagger, you say? I see someone putting an Elven Dagger inside their bag while walking here."

Carcette looks at me in surprise and says.

"Where?"

"A Nord man is the one carrying the Elven Dagger. By the look of his equipment, he is a miner."

"I see. This is surprising. He is the most innocent-looking one among the three suspects. He looks like someone who only cares for his family."

"Sometimes the most innocent-looking one is the most vile."

"And you are right. Thank you, Ryan. I shall inform the Jarl about this and ask for his permission to do this investigation."

"Tell me when you guys are about to attack him and the rest of the cultists."

"Of course."

Carcette thanked me once again and left the inn to inform the Jarl and the other Vigilants. I look at the book in front of me and open it. Let's have some Skyrim Spells.

=//=

I frown at the mine in front of me. I can feel it. It is subtle, but with my heightened sense of smell from Dragon Slayer Magic and my Senjutsu, I can smell the foul smell coming from inside the mine.

"This is it. The other Vigilants follow Harald to the mine, and they find him entering a hidden room at the end of the mine."

I nod at Carcette's words. She and the rest of the Vigilants of Stendarr gather here alongside a few guards the Jarl gives to accompany us. We are ten people strong for this quest.

"Let's go."

I nod, and we enter the mine. Carcette leads us deeper into the mine, where she presses a hidden button to reveal a path for us to take. After the stone wall in front of us disappears, I can see twelve people looking at us in shock, and a vampire is in the middle of the room, wearing Vigilants of Stendarr armor.

"Fenrik! You traitor! How dare you to join the thing we swear to destroy!"

The vampire looks at Carcette in anger and disgust before shouting.

"You did not understand, Carcette! I do this to be cured of Vampirism!"

"And you sacrifice your soul to Daedra in return! I shall give Stendarr Mercy on you, Fenrik! Let his divine judgment punish you for giving your soul to Daedra!"

"So be it!"

Fenrik shouts, and suddenly, the people around him attack us. I take out my sword and dash forward. One of the Redguards raises his shield, blocks my sword, and thrusts his sword at me. I move my sword and block the incoming attack.

After blocking, I pushed him away and thrust my sword. My sword pierces through his neck, and I swing my sword, cutting his head off. After killing him, I dash at the vampire in front of me. He looks at me, raises his left hand, and creates a barrier around him.

My sword hit his shield and created a crack in a single swing. I jump away from him and see him running at me with his mace above him. I block his mace, twist my sword, and swing it up. I can hear him hissing when my sword manages to slash his right arm. I can see smoke coming out of his right arm.

Right. Doujigiri Yasutsuna is a holy sword specializing in killing demonic and undead creatures.

Seeing that my sword is a dangerous tool that can hurt him, Fenrik starts to go on the defensive. However, I decided not to give him a break. I dash forward and swing my sword. He maintains his barrier to protect himself and uses his mace to attack me.

I continue to attack him using my sword and even use my fist to attack the barrier. I increase my strength and swing down my sword. My sword cut through his already cracked barrier, and my sword hit his neck.

I push my sword deeper, and a couple of seconds later, I cut off his head. After killing him, I join the others to kill the rest of the cultists.

It did not take long before we managed to clean the room from the cultist. I see Carcette smash the shrine in the middle of the room with her mace. A few seconds later, she looks at her fellow Vigilants of Stendarr and says.

"Clean this place and prepare for the ritual of cleansing."

"Yes, Keeper Carcette!"

She then looks at the city guards and says.

"Inform the Jarl that we manage to clean the cults and ask him what he wants to do with the corpse."

"Yes, ma'am!"

I walk toward her and say.

"What about me?"

"You and I need to heal the others. Come on. Think of this as practical learning."
