Chapter 21

Headmaster

"So…does this mean I pass?" Asked Siegfried, who was getting uncomfortable by the long silence.

"We need to inform the Headmaster of this." Said Oscar, the instructor.

"Yes…I'll take him." Said, Quentin. "You two continue with the tests. There are only a few candidates left. And do not inform anyone of what happened here until the Headmaster has made a decision."

"We know!" Said Wallace, the listed instructor.

Quentin made a gesture to Siegfried.

"Follow me, young Lancaster."

They left and tent and walked through the outer gardens towards the entrance of the inner walls, where most of the teaching facilities were located, as well as the Headmaster's tower.

Sigfried heard some of the murmurs of the candidates who saw him leaving with an instructor since it was a very unusual occurrence.

"This way." Quentin instructed.

The old man guided him to the tallest tower of the academy, situated right in the middle of it.

There were no guards and the door was opened as they arrived.

"The Headmaster tower has a very lax security," Siegfried observed.

Quentin gave him a smile. "Oh, there is plenty of security but is hard to see. Trust me, this tower is the most secure place in the entire academy."

After hearing that, Siegfried focused his senses on his surroundings, it was then that He started to perceive some energy signals on the walls and floor.

'There seems to be something hidden behind these walls, but I have no idea what could it be.'

He keep following the old instructor until they reached a small circular room.

"Get inside, go to the middle of the platform, and try not to move much." Instructed Quenting.

Siegfried enterd the small circular room. It was completely empty with a single entrance.

"What is this room for?"

"This is not a room, this is the only way to access the Headmaster's office." Quentin then took out his wand and placed it on a specific spot on the circular wall. He then formed some sort of pattern.

As soon as He was done, the room shook a bit and the floor started to move up. Siegfried could see the walls passing at great speed.

'What kind of device is this?!' He was both impressed and alarmed. Technology seemed to have advanced more than He thought initially.

The platform stopped and there was now a wooden door in front of them. With a clicking noise, the door unlocked and opened by itself, as if it was inviting them in.

"Make sure to be very respectful with the Headmaster. She is one of the most important figures in the entire State of Aglioso." Advised Quentin.

After leaving the door behind, they walked through a short hall until they finally reached the office door right at the end. The door opened once more by itself.

On the other side, Siegfried was able to appreciate how well-decorated the office was. It was fairly small for what one would expect of a Headmaster's office but it was filled with all sorts of things, from books to strange artifacts. Despite this, the office did not look messy at all, everything seemed to be in the right place.

Sitting behind a table made of some sort of pure white wood was the Headmaster. She was a remarkably beautiful mature woman in her late thirties with long black hair and a pair of clear blue eyes that radiated with power. She wore a silver tunic with black decorations, right the opposite that the one worn by the instructors, but this one looked a lot more refined.

"Quentin is good to see you again. And you brought me quite an interesting young man." She looked at Siegfried and He felt like He was being evaluated.

"An SS fire affinity. A unique find in our academy history."

"You knew about the results?" Asked Siegfried.

She gave him a soft smile. "Of course, Mister Lancaster. I like to keep an eye on the new additions to my academy. Sometimes I will spot some diamond in the rough and sometimes some incredibly talented individuals would appear."

"I figured that we should bring him to you, Headmaster. We didn't know how to process with someone of his particular talent." Said, Quentin.

She looked at the old man. "You did the right thing. Quentin, please, wait outside for a moment. I would like to have a few private words with Mister Lancaster."

"Of course." Quentin bowed and left the office.

The door closed by itself and some runes appeared on the wooden surface.

"For privacy. No one would be able to hear our conversation no matter how much they tried." The Headmaster commented after seeing Siegfried staring at the door runes.

"Allow me to introduce myself first. I am Arabella Aston, third daughter of High Lord Aston and Headmaster of the Aglioso Magus Academy."

She made a gesture indicating Siegfried to sit down. One of the chairs turned by itself, but this time Siegfried was able to feel a slight breeze.

"Wind… that's how you moved the door too, right?" He asked.

She gave him a warm smile. "You are quite sharp. Yes, I am a wind Magus."

He then thought of something. "Did you use the same to open the door at the entrance of the tower?"

She nodded.

"But that's!...how is it possible? Is so far away from here. To manipulate wind like that…" He was racking his brain trying to understand the workings of such magic.

"Mister Lancaster. Once you reach my level. You will be able to do things that would look impossible to others…but let's get straight to the matter in question."

Her expression turned serious and her eyes gained a strong shine.

"Tell me…what king of mysterious technique did you come across?"
