A black-haired boy was walking slowly through the hallway. He was not alone, there were many people here, especially boys and girls his age. Almost 70-80% of people look at it with ridicule. There are many reasons, and the boy was aware of them.
At the end of the hallway, there was a vast space that looks like a gallery stadium for battle. He saw a pretty face, which he liked, standing there.
He looked at her with a soft gaze, however, it wasn't the same for the girl. Because she was looking at him with sharp regard, however, it was different from other who was looking at him with ridicule.
"It has been a while, Miss Luna East."
The boy greeted her with a gentle smile. He knows that his face was average, however, he has confidence in his smile. And it is really stunning. The girl nodded but didn't show a smile on her face. However, it doesn't seem it was a rejection of his greeting, it was just how she acts with most people, at least openly.
She took her sword and pointed at him. No one was surprised by this because it was battling between the boy known as Jonathan North and the girl known as Luna East.
Jonathan also takes out his sword. He showed confidence in his eyes. However, for some reason, he also knows that he will be lost if he makes a single mistake. Everything should be perfect against her, even if he goes perfect it is yet questionable if he can win against her or not.
Jonathan, who is also named Jon made the first move, he dashed toward her and jumps and slashed at her. She didn't move a finger. She was standing there while pointing her sword at the place where he was before.
When his sword get closed something popped up from her feet so fast that he couldn't even see it which hammered him like a strong kick. He flew several meters from there. And finally, when he could stand, he was feeling pain in his chest. Though it wasn't a major injury it was enough to make him backfoot for this battle.
"That ability. It has gotten faster than before."
Jon looked at the thing that attacked him. It was a branch of a tree. She can control woods, tree, and their branches.
Jon shakes his head. It will get harder if he attacked her when her tree is outside. In past she never let it out because it would consume her magic hugely, however, she evolved so much that, she is making its appearance as soon as the fight started.
By the way, this wasn't the first time they are battling each other, it happened more than 12 times before, and he lost every time.
Jon raise his sword and channeled his mana into the sword. Luna has a special kind of magic that is non-elemental, however, his power is mixed with elements that are ice.
When he slashed toward her, the spikes of ice flew toward her. However, before it could reach her, a huge tree grew behind her, and a branch broke the ice, and it didn't stop just there it directly came toward his chest, he was surprised but ready this time.
Jon backstepped and tried to get away from its trajectory. And he was a success.
However, in the next second, he was surprised that the vines of that tree traveled toward him at the possible fastest speed, he cannot get away from that, nor he can use any range magic that fasts to deflect it.
That vines caught him and wrapped him. Then it slammed him on the ground, once, twice, thrice before he can count more he lost consciousness.
An hour later. He finally woke up. He looked at his surrounding. He understood that he has lost the battle.
"How pathetic. To think I would lose to her. Just as promised. I will give up on her."
It wasn't a normal battle, it was a battle for his love against his love.
Who is Luna to him? That isn't a long story, however not short either. The first time he saw her 4 years ago when his father introduced her as his fiancee.
The first time when his eyes landed on her he got a crush on her. When he saw her hair he fall for her, when he heard her voice it was too late for him to get back.
However, the cute girl didn't agree with that arrangement. She said, 'the day he could able to beat her, she will accept this marriage.'
It's not like she loves strong men, nor her husband must be stronger than her, it was a requirement to marry her which seems almost hard for Jon. He was 13 back then and was at only level 3, and Luna was 11 years old, she was at level 15. Even an 18-year human cannot pass the barrier of level 15, only about 1 in a thousand can do that, however, she did that only at 11.

When he was thinking about that, someone knocked on his door. He stood up and went to open the door. To his surprise, it was none other than the Luna East.
