Chapter 3 - Chapter-3: First day at Dungeon

"Father, I want to be an adventure."

John said that the next day to his father.

"What's with your sudden decision?"

His father Isa North asked him with a lazy expression.

"Because I want to be a stronger man."

John replied straightly.

"For that girl again, huh? Well, I already told you that you can do anything you like after all there is a thin chance of you inheriting the family. However, becoming an adventurer isn't an easy thing. You need to be at least level 15 to venture floor 5 and above."

Isa North shares a fact. And he wasn't wrong. Level 10 doesn't mean he can raid floor 10. Even for 5 level 10, cannot clear it. As for John, he can clear at most of Floor 1 alone and floors 2-4 with a party of 5 similar to him.

It will be hard for a party member to clear floor 5 and onward if they are not at least level 15.

"I will stick to the basics for now. I will only try to enter floors 1 to 4."

John replied.

"I see. Well, as you wish."

Isa didn't say anything anymore.

Isa North is known as the Lazy Duke of this empire. However, he was not a foolish Duke. That is why nobody underestimates him or his wife.

John bowed toward him and left the office of his father.

The next day, he visit the guild. It was to get the license to enter the dungeon. There is no legal or illegal to enter the dungeon. However, if you want to sell the drop, you must be registered under Adventure Guild.

It was normal procedure to register. No exam is needed for a higher-born like John. However, the Guild Manager said not to take risks to go higher floor.

John was about to exit. However, he saw a familiar face that he met yesterday. It was Loyd.

"Hey, John, you have joined the adventure guild?"

Loyd asked him. He was somewhat surprised to see it. No matter how much he ignored him, he couldn't help but asked him,

"You are going to the dungeon too?"

Hearing that Loyd gave a smirk and said,

"Of course I do. I have even party members."

Loyd told him with a boasting tone.

"I see."

Saying that John exited the guild. Like tomorrow Loyd spoke from behind, and he ignored it likewise.

The dungeon was not too far from the city of their dukedom. He went there with his feet. He could use a carriage but he decided to refrain from using extra advantage.

Though once upon a time dungeon was a just shabby cave entrance however now it is a gorgeous place where you can see many booths and shop beside it. And just before the gate, it was like a modern-day rail station.

He ignores everything and enters the dungeon gate which should be specified as a portal. This was the first time he ever entered a dungeon. However, before entering the dungeon he researches the monster and their nature inside the dungeon.

The monster on this first floor is an ant. Despite it sounds like an easy opponent actually it is not an innocent and that we can see on the surface. It is a bloodsucking poisonous ant that harvests the meat of humans and other beings. It is 3rd most nightmare of a beginner if he gets in the middle of the ant colony. So, he needed to be careful of them.

There are yet to see any monster yet in his eyes. Most probably party or person who came before him clean these monsters. it needs an hour to monster respawn again.

A few minutes later he finally saw an ant. It was 1 meter large in size. He hurriedly backsteps by taking out his sword from his sheath and slashes at it. The mantis of the ant wasn't as soft as he thought however it surely dealt great damage. He delivers similar attacks and finally connected to its fatal spot, and it died instantly while splashing green liquid from its body.

John saw something drop which is as big as his thumb. He took it and examine it with one eye. He knows what it is. It is the core of this monster, every dungeon monster has a core, in fact, their life supply comes from this core. Though it was still a mystery to humankind where this core come from. However, it is still not so concerning for them because, in the end, this is a valuable item for human beings' magic practice and making equipment.

John again started to search for the next enemy. Well, he got the ant again. It was easy to kill because they have a common attack pattern. They just come from the front and try to bite.

For a trained swordsman like him, it was easy to defend it and attack it back.

He found three ants, and he killed them without taking any damage. Not only that he has yet to use any magic.

He felt quite boastful. However, the next enemy he met was a spider.

The spider spit thread from its backside in other words ass, which was normal for any spider. However, John almost forgot it which caught him off guard.

He tried to defend himself by swinging the sword. But the thread entangled the sword and the spider pulled it back toward it. Which made him weaponless now.

Most of the basic rookie does that. If you are not strong enough you cannot go melee against this creature. Magic is the right solution to deal with them.

Despite knowing this he made the mistake. It is the difference between veterans and rookies.

The spider again throws the thread on him. This time he caught the thread, and he was ready for this, he instantly use ice magic on it, which travel through the thread and made the spider into an ice sculpture with spikes.

He retrieves the sword and breaks the sculpture along with the spider. It was a cool ability and all, however, he can use it once a day.

He promised himself to be careful from next time.
