Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Rabbithole

I listened to my parents fight early in the morning, my mother was always the loudest. Her voice boomed around the house. The walls were thin so I heard every word. "Our child wouldn't be like this if she didn't have a mother like you!" He snapped at her. Something is wrong with me and he blames her as if she controls my body. "There is nothing wrong with her!" My mother yelled at him, "She acts like you! Dress like you too!" I looked in the mirror, I was wearing a black checkered skirt, 3 pairs of tights, and a sweater that was a v-neck with a blue checkered scarf. "What's wrong with the way I dress?" My mother took the words right out of my mouth. "You dress like a slut" He told her with no hesitation, his voice was cold, not the one I knew, the one that used to be his perfect little girl. I heard glass shatter, as I headed downstairs. "You cheated! And you're gonna call me a slut!" My mother yelled, she probably threw her wine bottle at him. The one with the purple foot on it, I saw her drinking it 2 hours before. She started drinking after my father started working late but who drinks at 7 in the morning? I questioned, as I stomped into my shoes. "I hate you!"

My mother's loud crying voice was the last thing I heard as I walked through the snowy path of the woods. I like the way it crushed under my feet, I like the way it stopped screaming under me, and it makes me feel powerful. The thumping noise covered by crushing snow scared me. I thought I was alone, "W-whose there?" I asked, turning in a circle, as the noise got louder. The shake of a brush behind me made my throat tighten. I let out a silent scream as whoever or whatever came from the brushes.

There in front of me was a pure white rabbit. You would have missed it if it didn't have a bright red rose on it. I panted as I stared at the rabbit, "It...just a rabbit" I spoke breathlessly, not realizing I was holding my breath. "Hello, Mr, Rabbit, you gave me quite the scare" I smiled sweetly, and the rabbit gazed at me for a second before hopping right by. "Wait" I went after the rabbit. "Come back" The rabbit was fast as I ran after it. The snow got higher, the wind swooshed loudly in my ear, and it became hard to see the rabbit. "W-wait," I said but the wind drowned out my voice. Soon I felt the ground underneath me crumble, I could feel my heart stop as I fell through.
