I was surrounded by waist-high verdant grass and small 8-foot-tall trees, that got progressively large in random spots till I was looking up at sky-scraper-sized trees that blocked out the sky. Small rays of sunlight peered out through from the canopy here a there, before shifting from presumably the clouds moving overhead, not that I could actually see them it was all speculation as to why. Bird's ranging from the size of robins to the size of humans flittered and flew about the tree branches. Some sang others ate and many hunted either each other or prey animals. I saw one rabbit-sized plump squirrel with long rabbit-like ears get plucked up by a crow the size of a child before it too got plucked up by a black-horned owl the size of a cow.
I muttered under my breath, "What the fuck are owls doing out during the day anyway."
It was then I realize that in addition to color vision, I had night vision. Thank god I chose an elf. I don't wanna think about what would've-no never mind I'll stop there. Moving on I looked around the ground level before seeing a few strange low-hanging fruit, including one that glowed like a lantern on a smaller tree. Reaching out with my esp I made sure no predators were hunting me, and began walking. I need to find a source of running water, like a river or stream so I can follow it toward civilization before winter hits. I can survive off wild game and familiar produce in the meantime, but it'll get hard in winter. Once I find a source of running water I'll set up a shelter and begin figuring out my boons and magic. Even now I felt that power flowing into me that I assume is mana. If I could learn to harness it beyond modification magic, I would be set. I also need to figure out my psychic abilities more, maybe figure out the application of laws.
I walked downhill for a while and found a small stream when I suddenly sensed a group of small malnourished child-like creatures with large wide horizontal pointed ears, long noses, and green skin, stalking toward me as their noses twitched. They had long claws and wore nothing but lion furs for loincloths. Goblins. I drew my blade as their yellow eyes twinkled and they got crouched before running through the tall grasses at me. I couldn't see them below the grasses, only the grass moving as they moved, but I could sense them my esp.
Holding my sword at the ready one of them leaped at me claws outstretched and teeth bared ready to bite. I plunged my sword hilt deep through the goblin's chest. More jumped at me, and I didn't have time to pull my sword from the dead goblin. So I threw it to the side and drew my dagger. One landed on my arm biting my armor and breaking its teeth, another landed on my shoulder, then grabbed my helmet before I grabbed the goblin and threw him, unwittingly along with my helmet. Fuck.
I grabbed the one on my arm by the head then slipped my dagger under its jaw into its skull, before pulling out and throwing it aside. Fuck I feel lil nauseous, mm mm hold it down ugth. Gross, I think I baby-barfed. The last goblin was wrapped around my leg biting my knee armor, I stabbed it through the forehead and pulled out, before grabbing him and tossing him aside. I looked around with my esp then turn to face a goblin that was perched on a tree branch, it then jumped at me. Another giant black-horned owl plucked from the air before it got to me though. I watched as it flew into the forest before landing on a high branch and digging into its new meal. Well, shit. Glad I'm not child-sized. I went off to find my helmet and collect the goblin corpses for experiments.
I eventually found my helmet. I tried using modification magic on the dead goblins, and it worked, but they were still dead.
Archaeus, "Crap. I need a way to revive them I guess... Qi could do it, but I don't know how to manipulate it..... Fuck well, I guess I have to burn them then. Although... If they were undead they still should be loyal to, but I'm pretty sure necromancy is frowned upon considering most tropes... Ye Imma burn them."
I focused on feeling mana in the air which was relatively easy with esp, go figure. Then I gathered it in my hand and told it to become a fireball with my intent. A ball of fire showed up in my hand.
Archaeus, "It worked! Whoop whoop!"
?, "Whoop Whoop!"
Archaeus, "What the fuck!?"
I looked around a saw a cat-sized mockingbird on a tree branch nearby. It raised its head and called, "Whoop Whoop!"
Archaeus, "Oh thank god."
Mockingbird, "Oh thank god!"
I raised an eyebrow and an idea hit me. What if made this mockingbird my first servant, I just need to increase its intellect to sapient levels and increase its size to the same as that owl so it doesn't get picked off as prey. Then bad bing bad boom I have a scouting minion who can report to me. Then again stealth is key so maybe not that big. I can give it camouflage like a chameleon instead. Ya, that'll work.
I threw the fireball at the goblins and snatched the mockingbird my psychokinesis. As the goblin corpses burned to ash, I started modifying the mockingbird with my modification magic. When I was done it looked at me with newfound child-like sapience, before it said, "Oh thank god!"
I facepalmed and said, "Great do I have to teach it English? I might have just created a flying bird child, shit. Huahhh, oh well gotta start somewhere."
With that I start down the stream to try and find a river, followed by my mockingbird and first minion.
Archaeus, "I think I'll call you Loki."
