Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

(Ladies POV)

"Disaster! I thought that was the end of her behavior", said Reggie.

"Not the end, but the beginning! She had the nerve to do that!", Dee said.

"I shivered in fear when she spilled the words", Dee said.

"SHE HUMILIATED ME! SHE TOOK MY PRIDE!", said Reggie

"How about me! MY HUSBAND YELLED AT ME IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, FOR THE SAKE OF HER!" Dee exclaimed.

"She trapped us in a catastrophe, leaving us unable to escape!" exclaimed Indy.

"I won't forget that! She must suffer for her entire life, she must regret going against us!", said Reggie.

"Her bliss will come to an end sooner or later!" Dee predicted.

"What about our older brother? I'm pretty sure he'll reprimand us." Beth said.

"I know he's upset at us, I assure you, nothing will happen", Dee said.

"How are you so certain?" Beth questioned.

"I'm his wife. I know him better, deeper than all of you", Dee said.

"He is soft-spoken, we can win him over to our side," Dee said.

"I'm glad to hear that", said Reggie.

"I feel safer now," Beth added.

"Frankly, I enjoyed the show, it was amazing", Dee said.

"You mean the scene where your son defended us? If it was, I agree with that, it was awesome", said Beth.

Dee nodded, "And when he says, I'll give you another lesson. "

"I wouldn't say he stood up for us, but for our falsehoods, perhaps because you're his mother," Reggie remarked,

"I don't really care about that, as long as Luke is on our side, it's good for us", Dee said.

"Do you think another fight will happen?", asked Beth.

"We've had enough trouble already", said Reggie.

"This time we'll play smart", Dee said.

"She has to keep learning until she's in control", says Reggie.

"You mean under our control?" Beth inquired.

"You could say that", said Reggie.

(Sarah's POV)

I sat on the bed. What are they thinking?! Do they think they can do whatever they want?! I gripped the edge of the bed, I'm stuck with the Abrams. Is this what we call a warzone? Then there must be a winner and a loser, rise and fall, life or death!

I strolled up to the open window, placed my palm on the handle, tried to calm myself. I inhaled deeply and gazed up at the glorious sky. I don't know whether what I'm doing today is right or wrong. Part of me is relieved that I've expressed everything.

Given what has been done thus far, I am sure that they will not remain silent, they will plot something against me. I'll fight them. Even though my married life is wretched, I don't want it to fail. For all eternity, I will be with one man (while looking at my wedding photo).

I'm ready to face all the bitterness this family has bestowed upon me.

Although he tortured me for no apparent reason, this bond has bound us both together. His soul is embedded in me.

I fall for him. I must be insane to love a tormentor. I saw anger and sadness in him. The anger he threw at me is not for me. I sighed and dipped my head. I raised my head to look at the sun illuminating the world. I have to act, Luke and I must talk!

I've been pent up for so long, I'm in desperate need of fresh air. I'll stroll through the nearby park.

I changed into denim. I stuffed my belongings inside my handbag. I combed my hair, powdered my face, put on my black eyeglasses, and left the room.

I spotted them sitting on the couch. They peered at me and remained silent.

Ugh! I can't stand seeing their faces, they make my mood worse. I left without saying goodbye.

(Ladies POV)

"Look! Who just popped out" exclaimed Beth.

"Where's she going?", said Indy.

She shut the door with a loud thud.

"That's rude! She didn't even say goodbye to us", said Beth.

Reggie glared at Beth, "Really? Is that what you need right now?"

"At least she said it", said Beth.

"With our current situation, you expect all of that?! She would never say goodbye to us!", Dee said.

"Sorry, I shouldn't say that", said Beth

"You shouldn't!", Dee said.

"Enough of that bullshit! Where's she going?!", said Indy.

"How do I know? I'm not her babysitter!", said Reggie

"No waste of time, let's find out", said Beth.

"Don't rush!", Dee said.

"Should we call her husband?", asked Indy.

"Let's not create any havoc," Dee remarked.

"We'll take our time, prepare ourselves for the next thunder!", Dee said.

I gaze at the sky as the wind carries the happy swaying of the green trees. I turned my attention to the children as I sat alone and mourned, watching the parents playing with their children.

I miss my home, and my parents. I want to go back to where love is, hug them, and fall asleep on their lap, never to return to The Abrams.

I called a cab. After half an hour, I arrived at my parents' house, as it had been a decade since I left my childhood home. I hopped out of the cab.

I long for this ambiance. I rang the bell whilst putting on a cheery face.

"Mom...".

The door slid open. I hugged her without giving her a chance to speak.

"Sarah?"

"I miss you mom", I said.

"I miss you too", she said.

I let go of my arms, "Where's dad?"

"He's in the room", said mom.

"Let me surprise him!", I said.

Mom grabbed my arm before I entered.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked.

"What are you doing here? You left the house like a few months ago", she said.

"Can't I visit my parents?" I replied, feeling disheartened by her question..

"Of course, it wasn't what I meant," mom clarified.

"I know mom, I get what you say. I never lived apart from my parents." I claimed

"5 months is a short period of time," said mom.

"So what mom? Even if it is for a short period of time," I stated.

"Sarah, do they allow you to come?", she asked.

"Yes, why wouldn't they?", I asked back.

"Where's your husband?", she asked.

"He's in the office, mom", I said.

"Who brought you?" she inquired.

"With myself, by cab", I said.

"Why didn't he take you?", she asked.

"He's got a meeting," I explained.

"Will he pick you up?", she kept questioning me.

"Yes!"

"Is there a problem, Sarah?", she asked.

Mom's instincts are always accurate.

"What do you mean?", I said.

"Please, be honest", she said.

"Why should there be a problem, mom? I don't need to be honest about a problem that never existed!", I said.

"Are you going to keep grilling me about your suspicions?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, I'm just ..."

I busted in before she could finish her sentences.

She followed behind me. She noticed it. I felt like being investigated by the police.

I tapped on the door "Dad." He stood steady with his sweater.

"Sarah?".

"Dad", I threw my arms around his waist.

"I miss you, dad", I said.

"I miss you too", said dad.

I lifted my arms off him. I looked at him and found he was giving me the same look as mom.

"Sarah, why are you here?", he asks, sweeping away my happiness in a flash.

"She misses us", said mom to dad

"You've only been apart from us for a few months", he said.

"Mom just asked me the same question, dad," I said.

"Let's get to the point. Am I not welcome at my parents' house?" I inquired.

"Does every bride who pays a visit to her parents have to have a problem?" I wondered.

"What if she only misses her parents? What if she just wants to sleep on her parents' lap?" I wondered.

Mom says, "That's what always happens mostly."

"Moreover, it is not advisable for newlyweds to visit their parents without their husbands," she added.

"People will criticize you and spread false rumors that are detrimental to our family," Dad said.

"We didn't mean to hurt you, you should go home. You are welcome to see us whenever you want, but only with your husband, not by yourself," he stated.

"Your father is right, that is the right thing to do," she stated.

"I see, I no longer belong here. I'll leave, I don't want to make a fool of myself," I said.

"Sarah....", mom

"Bye!" I said, tears welling up in my eyes.

The first time I was treated this way by my parents. I get my power from standing in my childhood home and shattered when my parents evicted me. Things changed rapidly.

Hoping they would greet me with the same warmth, visiting my parents is the second biggest mistake I've ever made. I should stay in the park. I don't have a place called home anymore. I've nowhere to go.

I let myself go, not knowing where I was heading.

I have no one. My entire life has changed since I got married. My married life was ruined, my parents kicked me out, my life just WOW! If I could have seen all of this happening, I would've run away from them.

I dropped myself beneath a shady and dense tree. I leaned against the tree trunk. My life is a perfect catastrophe. There's no way out except to accept my fate, back to hell where I was sent.

I lingered in the shade of the trees. When I opted to spend time with my parents, they sent me back for the sake of the people. This is where I ended up.

My phone had been buzzing nonstop for hours. I turned it off and sank under the spell of the cold air.
