Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Lies That Becomes a Good Story

Bright light shines from the palace beams to the sky but the sun had still not rise. The light can be seen from kilometres away.

"Huh? Is it morning already?" A citizen looking outside the window.

"What is that at the garden? Alert the guards and the palace. The rest of you follow me." The night shift captain brings a group of royal guards to the palace garden.

"What is that? Looks like holy magic." Veronica who was with Emilio heading towards Solstice City looked back towards Amber Rose capital.

"S*it, s*it, s*it. Control it, control it, control it." Adrian panicking after summoning Excalibur. The legendary weapon's presence is too over bearing. He dipped the sword inside the lake to dimmed out the light but now the lake refracts the light and making the lake shines.

[Advice. Master needs to retract the weapon.]

[Warning. Hundreds of palace guards are storming the garden are shown in 'Map'.]

Adrian quickly retracts Excalibur and discharge a large amount of mana mixed in a little bit of light particle while give a command to Aria.

"Aria, activate Bodily chemical manipulation, make my eyes a bit blind." As Adrian gives the command and his iris started to turn pale from its dark brown color.

The 30 royal guards casting 'Light' to see through the dark garden, stormed into the garden but carefully not to destroy it while the rest of them surround the garden. They are here to inspect the phenomena not to destroy it. Upon arriving, they see a royal guard leaning on a pillar and a boy who holding his eyes using both hands.

"Is someone there?" Adrian screamed out after hearing footsteps near him.

"Adrian Cross. I'm the Royal Guard Captain. What happen here? What was that light? Why is there a royal knight sleeping here? Please explain." The captain asked so many questions at once to Adrian.

"I'm sorry, guard captain. That light is cause by me. I had some nightmares and woke up in the middle of the night. I decided to take a walk in the garden so I bring the knight with me as an escort. I was just staring at the lake singing some songs, when I looked back the guard is sleeping. Feeling bored and not tired to sleep, I practice some magic. The Light magic went out of control and blind me." Adrian gives his story making it consistent to the sleeping royal knight while bringing his hands down.

The 30 royal guards were shocked seeing Adrian's eyes. His eyes are white. Seeing no damage is done to the garden and there is no threat, the captain gives his orders.

"Bring Adrian Cross to the infirmary. Three of you report the incident to the King, commander Arnold and the Royal Guard that surrounding the garden to dismiss. Also, can someone wake that d**n sleeping knight, ask him questions. It doesn't matter if he is from the Knight squad, he sleeps during duty." The Royal Guard Captain gives his order.

"Yes sir!" The royal guards move as per orders.

"Oi! Wake up!" A royal guard slaps the knight awake.

"Huh? Is the song finished? What happen?" The royal knight jolted up.

Adrian is sent to the royal infirmary where a skilled Light mage is healing his eyes. His eyes are slowly turning back to its dark brown color. Adrian's vision returned from blurry to clear.

"Thank you, healer." Adrian thanked the Light mage.

"Boy, that is one amazing Light magic you cast. I mean 'accidently' cast. Hahaha… you must have Light affinity. When you enter the academy join the Light element class. One who had special element affinities are 1/10 of the Twilight Kingdom population. Oh, it seems like His Majesty had arrived. See you again boy." The old man with long white hair and no facial hair smiles and walking to the exit while bowing to the king at the entrance.

"Sigh… Son. I don't know to be proud or feel disappointed." King Elijah starts with a statement. Adrian showed a bewildered face.

"Since when is he is my father?" Adrian thought.

"I'm glad that there is no danger and no damages caused. But the reports state your uncontrolled Light magic illuminates the whole west continent. I don't know to be happy because you can cast an amazing Light magic or to worry that the light beam towards the sky brings too much attention from other kingdoms and empires. What should I do?" King Elijah feigns ignorance.

"This guy…" Adrian could not believe what he is seeing. He didn't want to say it but he had no choice.

"Your Majesty, had done me such favour by letting me staying at the palace. What's one more favour to owe Your Majesty to handle this matter will be worth?" Adrian fakes a smile while bowing to the King.

"Hehehe… You can win against me in strategizing but in cunningness, you are still too young. That will be 1-1, son." Elijah thought while smirking.

"If young Adrian says he will owe me, I will do this favour for you. I will take the blame for this incident and also hide the truth about you. No news of 'you' casting blinding Light magic will be heard." The king tells Adrian his plan to handle the incident.

"Thank you so much for your grace Your Majesty." Adrian bows showing true gratitude while cursing in his head.

"You can rest here. You used a lot of mana. You should be tired. The sun had poked out a little but the capital seems to be active because of the incident. Ah… I can finish my work from yesterday. Got to go." The king rushes out of the infirmary leaving the cursing Adrian alone.

In the office where Queen Charlotte was waiting, the door suddenly opens.

"How did it go?" Charlotte asked Elijah about his talk with Adrian.

"We got him. A genius owes us a favour." Elijah excitedly said showing a big smile.

"Hehehe… Now, what should we do with the favour?" Charlotte wonders the possibilities.

"What about we just asked him to get engaged with Chelsea? They will attend the academy together. Learning together should be the best time for romance. Is it too soon?" Elijah made a true statement then he started to wonder about his hasty decision.

"Right now is too soon. Although our little girl is smitten for him but the boy is still too dense about romance like a certain someone." Charlotte glares at Elijah remembering the first time they met.

"Hey, how should I know?" Elijah retorts.

"There are signs…" Charlotte rebukes back. The king and queen begin to had a light quarrel until a sudden knock at the door can be heard.

Knock, knock, knock.

"It's me. I'm coming in." A lady with a pregnant belly burst in the office.

"Marie!" The king and queen stop their quarrelling and looked at the beautiful lady with long dark blue hair. She is Marie Preston Wells, the kings second wife.

She is the youngest Princess of the Dawn Kingdom. She was actually forced into marriage by the prince of the Dusk Kingdom but as Charlotte long-time friend she gives Elijah permission to marry Marie to save her. Since then, the relationship between the Dusk and Twilight became volatile.

Marie is the opposite of the hot-blooded king and queen. She is cheerful and calm. She is the one who always defuse the quarrelling between the two.

"I came inside after hearing you two are fighting again. The sun is not fully risen yet. Eli, your work yesterday had not finished yet let's help him out together, alright? Char?" The pregnant woman defuses the quarrelling and volunteer to work together with them.

"That's okay, Marr. You should go rest." Charlotte rejects the offer.

"No, both of you should go. Not much is left from yesterday's pile. Char, please bring Marie to get some rest. You can also get some rest." Elijah told them about his current progress and asked his wives to go rest.

"Sigh… Okay Eli." Charlotte replied while sighing and brought Marie out.

"Now… Let's get it together." Elijah pumps himself up and going through the mountains of paperwork while thinking about a pregnant belly and a pair of certain twins.

In the infirmary, Adrian is lying on the bed with Ralph standing by his side.

"Oh? So that's what happen. The king sure is strong. Casting Light magic to the whole west continent to see. You are very unlucky, to be blinded by it." Ralph gets the picture of the whole fake story.

"Yeah, very unlucky indeed. Hehehe…" Adrian is actually laughing at himself for losing to the king.

Adrian is actually wallowing in misery because the king can asked him an unavoidable favour that will bring him trouble in the future. Amidst his misery, a notification from Aria popped in front of him.
