"What? Gazelle tried to kill Larisa?" Onyx was just breaking the news to Zion and Adina as well as Darius and Valerie. Valerie was disappointed that whoever tried to kill Larisa couldn't succeed at it but she kept her thoughts to herself or she'd be the next scapegoat of Lothaire.
"Is she stupid or something?" Zion rhetorically asked. Lothaire averted his gaze to him.
"Maybe and she paid for it with her life." Lothaire said with a sarcastic smirk on his face.
"Barely been a month and she's already been targeted." Darius said as he lit up a cigarette.
"Targeted but can't be hit." Lothaire said as he crossed his long leg over the other.
"Don't be so full of yourself, she's human and anyone could easily kill her." Adina said with arched brows and a serious facial expression.
"Worry about yourself Adina." He said ever so calmly.
"You don't seem to be worried too much about Larisa or are you planning something else?" Adina asked.
"Be specific please, I don't like beating around the bush." Lothaire said knowing exactly where Adina was getting to with her words.
"You're going to release Hela to give Larisa immortality, aren't you?" Adina stated while they all waited for his reply. A smirk danced on his face as he said,
"And if I am, what then?" He said with not a care in the world since there was nothing that they could really do to stop him. Avian's jaws ticked for a split second but his expression was still empty.
"Its a bad idea, you know how dangerous she is." Onyx said despite being scared of him but when Lothaire's gaze found hers, she pressed her lips in a thin line and immediately kept shut.
"Is she as dangerous as i am?" He asked with a dark voice that sent shivers crawling into Onyx's skin.
"Maybe, she's immortal like you and the only way to contain the both of you is to imprison you for eternity." Avian interrupted his death stares he sent to Onyx and it seemed like his words held another meaning to it but he was right, Hela was just as dangerous and reckless as Lothaire, she was immortal and powerful to the extent that she didn't have to touch a person to place death upon the person.
But her weakness was her healing system, unlike Lothaire, if a part of her body was dismembered, it had to be placed back together to enable healing but Lothaire could regenerate a body part that was being dismembered, making him even more dangerous.
"But the difference between us is that I'm stronger." He said proudly but truly, he remembered his fight with her, she was powerful and she seemed like a good match for him but nevertheless, he defeated her and now she was imprisoned in his abyss for eternity with no escape except he of course released her.
"She may not be a problem to you but what if she makes war with us? That'll be the end of our era." Adina said with a worried but more angry expression.
"She won't cause I have her heart in the palm of my hands." He said with a wide grin and a dark glint in his golden eyes. After separating her heart from her body, he had kept it safely hidden where no one knew the location of except for him.
"Still, this is a bad idea." Adina said, her anger and worry lessened after Lothaire's words.
"What if it doesn't work then? We'll then have to deal with you when she grows old and dies." Darius added in nonchalantly. He couldn't put all his eggs in one basket and be disappointed later on. Lothaire glared at him as he said those words.
"She's not going to die." He said with a hard deep voice.
"But if she does, you'll go berserk and kill everyone." Avian said as a matter of fact with his stoic expression as he stared at Lothaire who was obviously angry at his statement.
"I do wonder sometimes, since you don't feel emotions, if I kill your mate will you feel it?" Lothaire asked rhetorically.
They all stared at Avian who didn't say another word but just kept staring at him with his blank face. Lothaire trudged at Onyx with his inhumane speed and before they could blink, Onyx was pinned to the walk with Lothaire's large hand squeezing her throat, she struggled to breath as she trued to fight off Lothaire but in vain.
Avian watched but not a single emotion was seen in his face, then he walked out of the room leaving Lothaire bewildered as he released his hand and let Onyx drop to the ground with a soft thud as she struggled to suck in air into her lungs.
Zion and Adina rushed to help her up, they were surprised to find out from Lothaire that she was Avian's mate but also as surprised when Avian walked out in her without batting an eyelid.
Onyx's beautiful blue eyes were filled with tears, she couldn't believe that Avian would walk out on her no matter how much he held his resolve strong, he should have been able to stand up for her and protect her but he walked out on her like she didn't mean a thing to him. No matter what Avian had done to her in the past, she had never felt this hurt before.
.....
Larisa lay on the bed, thinking of what happened at the soirée, she wondered if her life would ever be normal again, she remembered seeing how Lothaire's eyes gleamed with darkness as he had fun ripping gazelle to pieces, there was not a single hint of empathy in his eyes but still, she had to understand that they both came from two different worlds.
After much thinking, her eyes became heavy with sleep that she soon fell into a deep slumber. She woke up to be greeted by nothing but pure darkness, it looked eerie, even the cold air felt strange.
She looked around trying to make out where she was but she couldn't see a thing. She felt a familiar presence behind her, it was Lothaire but this time, it felt different, it was darker and the air around him felt heavier that she couldn't help but jolt in fear as she turned around to meet the burning golden eyes of a man but she knew it wasn't Lothaire, he was different his aura was different from Lothaire's even though they had the same dark aura, the man's presence felt blood curdling.
He looked like the clone of Lothaire, he had the same eyes, skin colour, height and even the same body structure except for his long hair that stopped below his waistline and his clothing that looked like the medieval times.
She was surprised that she could see him in the dark and wondered how it was possible. The eerie man moved towards her and she instinctively moved backward but the eerie man didn't stop moving till she lost her balance and fell from a great height.
"Arghhh!!!!" She screamed as she fell, feeling the biting cold on her skin but as she continued screaming, she immediately jolted her eyes open to see Lothaire holding her in his arms. It was another nightmare.
"It's just a nightmare." Lothaire said but deep down, he knew that there weren't just nightmares but meant something more and he was going to find out what.
Larisa was stricken with fear as she opened her eyes, this was no nightmare, she had seen the strange man who looked exactly like Lothaire but with a different presence, she wondered if it was his father but she wondered more why her nightmares felt so real, it had felt like she was falling she could even feel the cold air on her skin and she could hear her screams clearly as she fell, something was definitely out of place.
She wondered why weird things kept happening to her, female vampires who were in love with Lothaire trying to get rid of her and nightmares haunting her peaceful sleeps, she wondered what more would come next. But seeing Lothaire's face made her realized how much she had missed him even though she was still angry at him and had a lot of questions to ask.
