Back in my last lifetime, despite being overworked and over-stressed. I had always kept my body healthy through exercise could do while busy with work. So I had the idea on how to train my body and that I did.
I started with my equipment. At first I thought of just asking the orcs for something heavy. Except that was a bust since I already knew they had no understanding of training. They got strong simply by work itself. Merli despite trying to be helpful also had no real solutions. Which left me clueless at first!
The solution was water! Water was heavy, heavier then the trees and rocks. Water was the solution and the river made me realize this. Gnar the orc shaman, had packed books and pots to bring with him. One such pot he used to store water to wash himself in. It was while he was moving a refreshed pot of water did he complain about it being heavy.
The problem I now faced, was how to make weights of water. At first the idea was likely a pot or something much like the on Gnar used. However my attempts to make a pot made of mud or clay found near the river was terrible. Which left me to go back to the orc tribe.
Ultimately it was a goblin that provided me a solution. When I had gone back to the twilight wolf clan and asked Tuk. I had actually found a goblin already making clay pots the clan was going to use to grind down the roots the clan was now going to eat much like me and Merli had.
The clay making Goblin had agreed more or less, due to various reasons to help me. However thanks to that quest thing I had received. I decided to help the goblin with the process. Gathering large chunks of clay I had dug out from the river banks.
The hardest process was creating the hand holds. The goblin knew his stuff however and asked for me to get him some extra material. One of which was a root that he cooked and bent into a handle. The root actually hardened when heated turning into a quickly formed petrified wood like structure. This gave me a few ideas for later.
When the weights were finished, they were some what similar to a tea pot. However root handles arced above the lid. Each weight was bigger than size of my head and from my estimation. Would easily hold 5 gallons, which was something like 16 kg. I was really impressed with the work, which only left my routine.
Beginning with just moving in various ways I felt out how my muscles moved. It took a while, but eventually I figured out how I would go about everything. Due to my hooves I couldn't do any push ups, planks or laying down exercises or any real leg exercises so I began with those. Working with the few exercises I could do with my legs.
At first it was just squats, however I began lifting the weights with each one. At first it was just tiring and I obviously didn't see anything change. However to my surprise after the 4th day of working the exercise into my daily routine....
I dropped everything and jumped up. "IT WORKED!"
Merli looked over from its garden. "Wait it worked? What happened?"
I looked at Merli with a smile it knew what I had been trying to do. "I just got a message that my strength as increased by 1 through consistent training."
Merli eyes widened, "Then that means monsters really can train just like humans do. I wonder if it works differently though like how do humans raise their other stats?"
I paused that I didn't know. It was only strength that increased so how did vitality, and dexterity increase? What about wisdom and mystic? Thinking on it I received my answer in a way. "For something like wisdom it would likely be your knowledge and what you learn. So I would assume reading a book everyday might? With that logic and the knowledge on how strength increases...."
Merli answered for me, "You must increase your flexibility which is incredibly difficult for a Tauren. Not to mention Vitality and Mystic are still unknown."
"What about charm?"
Merli shrugged, "Does Charm sound trainable?"
I leaned my head in thought, "Take good care of your fur and skin I guess?"
Merli placed its watering can down. "So how are you gonna train your dexterity?"
I sighed, "I'll have to do some kind of yoga."
Merli looked stumped, "Yoga?"
I waved my hand, "Its like a series of poses that have you stretching our body out."
Merli scoffed slightly, "I knew that... I was more thinking how are you going to do it?"
It wasn't really that hard, and I knew Merli wanted to be my guide? Merli wanted to have all my answers basically so I nodded along. If I wanted to train further I would have to make a consistent method for each stat. However Wisdom and Mystic were likely not possible as of right now...
"Merli?"
The kirin looked over, "Yeah?"
"Do you know how to write?"
Merli nodded, and so I continued, "I know how to increase Wisdom. However I can't really test it, sooooo..."
Merli sighed, "How? Vocabulary. If it works, I think writing books will increase wisdom. Things like dictionaries, or...."
"Translations! If we can get any books from humans! We can translate them for wisdom while also having monsters read them!"
Gnar entered the conversation, "The Eastern Clan of the West.... You know them, They raid villages along the edges of the human city. They are bound to have books."
Merli spoke, "Why would they have books?"
Gnar explained, "They have a Orc-snob Wizard. Gnar looked at me, Orc-snobs are Orcs that resemble pigs. They have very high affinity for magic and dark arts. If done right they can evolve into an abyss beast called the Ganontar."
I nodded, "Whats an Abyss beast?"
Gnar gestured, "You should have one in your tree called shadow-calf."
"Ah! Yeah in 1 more month I won't be able to evolve into it anymore."
Gnar nodded, "Yeah they are basically have impossible requirements and only are created when an abyss beast uh.... never mind you get the idea."
I did, which led us to our new objective. The Eastern Clan, however if they had a wizard I had know idea what else they had. We would need to discuss our plans.
