The narrow trodden path within the wilderness had been covered with bodies. The trees on either side also had bodies stabbed into their branches, rivers of blood collecting to form an ocean on the ground, steadily flowing towards the commanders.
And the worst part was that each of the bodies wore the same leather armour which their army from the Roth Empire had put on for this secret mission to hide their identities.
All in all, there were around 40 bodies. The number was an estimate calculated by counting the heads since many body parts were just littered around on the ground after having been chopped off.
One of the two commanders turned away from the scene. They had just abandoned the last of their brothers-in-arms and were now faced with this kind of scene, making him regret multiple decisions.
Meanwhile, the other one was staring at the bodies for a good minute before he decided to approach them. He knew they needed to escape as soon as possible, but he had to check the face and make sure that they were indeed those soldiers who had gone missing during the battle.

His boots caused ripples in the river of blood as he reached the first bodies and flipped it over using his sword.
Immediately he recognised the one on the ground, he was one of the two he had sent to check their rear. But he was now lying dead, having his right hand and left leg missing from his body.
Right at this moment, the dead body behind this one moved and a dagger found its way directly in front of the commander, who was too stunned to exclaim as the dagger dug straight into his right eye, and went through his brain and through to the other side.
This was something Kai had learned how to do thanks to the system. Normally, none of Kai's attacks would have been able to break through the skull bones of an adult twice.
However, the system taught him a technique to use the Five Elephant Palm as a forward-pushing force like the explosion of gunpowder in a gun, and the dagger as the bullet, to propel it straight forward at incredible speeds with enormous power.
Of course, this had its faults as well. Firstly, it would use about 10 Mana, which was about half of his total mana, meaning if he did not use the system for combat, he would at best be able to use this attack two times. Of course, the system was now also storing its own 200 mana, which it could use for combat, but Kai preferred to keep that as an emergency reserve for the system in life-threatening situations.
Furthermore, using this attack would mean that he would not be able to continue combat since he did not have a weapon. Plus, he would not be able to change the direction of the dagger once he threw it.
Kai did not waste a single second as he rushed forward and pulled out the dagger he had thrown at such a close distance. The noise from the usage of the Five Elephant Palm technique had already alerted the second commander who had already turned around and was witnessing this impossible scene.
Yet, it was too late for this second commander as well, as the same dagger had already found its way to his face before he could even draw his sword to protect himself. Another one died at Kai's hands.
After having successfully taken care of the entire situation, Kai quickly pulled off the leather armour on him and threw it away from him in disgust. It was the armour of a dead person he had just recently killed after all.
However, Kai did not go anywhere, and instead just stood in his place for a few seconds before slumping to the ground, breathing rapidly.
Slowly, his ragged breathing slowed as the effects of the adrenalin in his body began to wear off. Slowly, Kai came to terms with what had just happened over the past few hours as he closed his eyes and used his bloodied hands to wipe off the mud, blood and sweat from his face.
Just at this moment, Kai noticed a group of soldiers approaching and immediately became alert. He noticed it was heavy armoured soldiers and became even more alert. The reason? Because after burying the bodies in the village, Kai's clone continued travelling and found Bob hiding in the hollowed-out trunk of a tree.
After bringing him out, Kai's clone learned that heavy armoured knights led by Jason, the second in command entered the village under the pretext of protecting it from outside forces, and instead of doing that, they slaughtered everyone in search of Kai!
As it turned out, Jason had betrayed Pops and was in search of Kai to kill him or use him for blackmail against the baron.
Kai immediately stood up and rushed forward to pull out the dagger from the second commander he had killed, before quickly scurrying off into the bushes.
Since they were heavy armoured knights without horses as it seemed, Kai was fairly certain Pops was part of this group and they were loyal, but he still decided to take precautions and maintained enough distance between himself and the road to allow him to escape the pursuit of the heavy armoured knights. After all, they were considerably slower without their mounts.
A few seconds later, the small group of 20 soldiers approached closer and noticed the horrendous scene. However, instead of fear, they showed excitement. At this moment, a bald figure came out from in between his knights and looked at the scene with a pensive expression.
"Pops!" Kai yelled out from inside the bushes as he rushed out, throwing his dagger to the side and running towards the baron with tears running down his still bloody and muddy face.
