Chapter 14
**Till death do us part....or not**
The party moved on swiftly and Liliana yawned loudly as she was helped into the car by Mario and her personal bodyguard whom she was starting to get used to, her legs hurt from all the standing and the dancing she had to do with her damned fiance. She yawned again when the car started to move, falling asleep under the space of a few minutes.
Adonis watched her car go and heaved a deep sigh, the dreaded memory of retching his guts out inside the bathroom flashed again making him frown deeply—but he gave credit where credit was due, she spat into his drink and make him swallow it in front of a whole load of people and his parents.....oh how he wished to have wiped off the beautiful smirk that was on her face. The night was over finally, all that was left was his dreaded wedding.

Mario barged into his boss's room the next morning with her usual cup of asphalt, Liliana groaned loudly as he gently tapped her away. She was so tired and her body was still sore from all the dancing she had to do, years of digging out dirt and hiking into caves she never felt tired or sore like she did yesterday. She dismissed him with the wave of her hand but he was persistent, pulling her bedcovers away and exposing the sheer nightdress she wore underneath.
‘You're giving me thoughts about firing you Mario'. She muffledly warned.
‘Your dress is here ma'am'.
She jerked up at the sound of dress, ‘It's here already?! Shouldn't I have the liberty of picking my own wedding dress?!'.
Another morning, another rant, he thought rolling his eyes as he handed her dosage of caffeine, ‘Mrs Brynn wanted the liberty of choosing your wedding dress herself, she said it would suit you greatly'.
Liliana scoffed loudly as it was on the point of being ludicrously annoying, she didn't have a say in her engagement party and now she wasn't getting a say when it came to choosing her wedding dress—choosing a dress was one of the most emotional parts of a wedding'for a bride, but she wasn't a normal bride...she was only getting married to teach an arrogant man a lesson.
‘Let me see the damned dress', she grunted as she already resigned to her fate. Mario nodded and returned a few minutes later with a dress which had a Saran wrap protecting it. It was a beautiful dress with a mermaid cut out skirt, it had a train which she really loved and the corset like bodice had stones which she found very much appealing—it was a beautiful dress she couldn't lie, one that her mother chose to suit her taste.
Megan barged into the room only to see Liliana in front of the mirror and on top of a small stool. It didn't take too long for the tears to well up in her eyes like every mother would, seeing their daughter finally get to wear a wedding dress... especially one picked out by them.
Liliana surreptitiously rolled her eyes as she stepped down from the stool with Mario's help, ‘Mom.....'
‘I know it's corny for me to start crying but...', Megan sniffled lightly, ‘You just look so...so beautiful...and...and I never thought I would ever get to see you wear a dress like this'.
‘Well I wouldn't if you and Dad didn't put the pressure on me to get married'. Liliana frowned for a minute as her mother's sobbing was starting go to trigger her nerves, of course every mother would be happy but not in her case—she was tricked and forced to return home, forced to get married to which she agreed to on spiteful terms and as beautiful her dress was, she would've loved the opportunity of picking it up by herself.
Megan stopped sobbing and placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder, ’ I know you're doing this just to prove how much of a good daughter you are, but you might find something you don't even expect from your marriage Lili'.
‘What is that?'. Liliana asked.
‘Love', her mother cupped her cheek with a hand, ‘You might end up falling in love with Adonis and I promise you...it's a great feeling. You have been lonely for way too long and it's time you seek happiness'.
She nodded and watched her mother leave, it was almost amusing to the point of laughter, that her mother thought of Adonis as a person who was lovable. He was the same man who dumped a woman shamelessly after dating for a week, Adonis wasn't a man who loved—he was a man who broke hearts for a living and she was a woman incapable of loving anyone m.. especially one as vile as him.
‘So...', Mario who has been standing in the shadows for too long, ‘Do you love the dress?'.
She sighed deeply as her hands skimmed down her curves, ’It's perfect.....perfect for my doomed wedding'.
*******
St Peter's Catholic church inside the royal palace had wedding bells ringing all over it. Adonis hated the feeling lumping in his throat, he wasn't like any normal groom who loved his bride so why was he nervous? his hands started to fidget which was unlike anything he had ever experienced before....this wasn't him, this just couldn't be him.
‘You don't have to worry', The King whispered as he stood close to his son, ‘I was also nervous when I was marrying your mother'.
Adonis frowned, vexed about his nervousness being noticed by his father, so he gathered his composure and managed to keep a straight face as he would father die than caught lacking by his impertinent wife to be. The church had only the royal family with a few other dignified people, Megan also sat in the congregation with her sister as she waited for her husband and daughter to walk down the aisle.
Adonis jolted from his absentmindedness as the pianist started to play, everyone in the church stood up and turned to watch Liliana walk down the aisle. The door opened and Liliana's cowardly self almost popped it's ugly head out, making her rethink her decision and opt to flee—but she wasn't a coward, the smirk on Adonis's cheek was enough motivation to keep going.
So she took the step inside the church, with her arms linked with her father's. Marcus had pride written all over his face as they finally got to the altar and handed his daughter over to Adonis. The prince lifted off the veil and her beautiful eyes almost threw him off guard, he almost forgot how much of a redhead she was and how it complimented her eyes so well—the dress she had on made her look almost ethereal.
‘Till death do us part Liliana'. He leaned over and whispered.
She chuckled softly, ‘.....or not'.
