Time slowed, so I stopped in mid-air, and my body started to redirect all the energy I had just been given to my core, and I broke open the vial of platinum. Instantly, the Nanobots attacked the platinum, and time sped back up as I crashed to the ground.
"Your stupid machine doesn't even care about you! That is rich!" Thomas laughed and then spoke into his wristband as my body fixed the fried circuits and finished converting the electricity I had been hit with into usable power. "Men! Get him!"
'Razor! Are you okay?! Why are you not getting the guards to help you?!' Fawna asked over the comms.
Two of the silver knights were running away with the Mindless men while the third was going to collect the little girl. I was glad that none of them were injured, now it was time for payback, and I pulled no punches.
'No, I am fine. This is all part of the plan,' I said, and I stood up, making the panting Thomas frown as his men that I had bugged ran out.
I had assumed that they would try something like this, and that was the main reason for keeping the platinum. I had been sure this wasn't enough to give me a boost, but from what Numera had told me, the platinum would improve me in the ways that I needed.
Choice adaptation.
Choice adaptation enables something to evolve traits specifically adapted for one task or purpose in order to be more efficient at it. This is what I had done: by introducing the platinum into my system, at the same time that I was overloaded with electricity, and now it no longer hurt me; it powered me.
"So, you are tougher than you look? Everyone, attack with lightning magic!" Thomas roared, and I smiled as they all raised their arms, and I raised only on my own and snapped my fingers.
The bugs on each of them had broken into Nanobots and entered their pores once I had restarted. The moment my fingers snapped, the five guards around Thomas froze and then started to scream. Thomas stopped casting and backed up in fear as his men all cried out.
There were pins at every major joint in their bodies that slammed into the bone to connect them, and then blades formed. The paper thin blades started spinning around them, slowly getting bigger, cutting through the flesh. I walked forward and extended my arm, placing my other hand on it to change it into a cannon that fired a single round, shattering a shield Thomas put up, ripping through his leg, and causing him to cry out.
"Orion!" Thomas cried out as I walked over to him through the spray of the blood of his guards on dismembered bodies.
'Guards are coming from all around you!' Fawna cried out over the comms, and I grinned.
Even better. Now I could try something else that I have been interested in trying.
Doors around me burst open, and about fifteen men with one clearly dressed in better armor, and I matched his face with the Orion in my files. I was almost instantly surrounded, and they all had their hands up and pointed at me.
"Step back from Thomas, Numerian. It is over," Orion said, and I grabbed Thomas and held him up, making the man scream as I placed my hand that I had superheated on his face. The moment everyone started to cast, I let go of Thomas and flung him up and over at Orion.
Then I was hit with lightning from all angles, and I drank in all the power. While I did, the body parts I had just dismembered started to pull themselves back together, making some of the men around me stop casting and then the rest as they stepped back in horror. Each of the people that they might have once called friends or comrades rose up around me, twitching as my Nanobots integrated themselves into the bodies.
"You monsters!" Orion yelled, but I just laughed and stepped forward. This bastard had no idea just how little humanity I had left, but he was going to learn.
"No, you are the idiot for thinking that you can stand up to me. I am coming for you all," I said, and then sent out a blast of energy from my core straight at him, cutting semi-circular holes out of the guard's sides as Orion threw up a shield. To my surprise, he was able to block the energy beam, and even as I increased the power and the Risen Guards attacked the others, Orion stood tall, and so did his shield.
"Fall back!" Orion called, and then I was hit with a ball of fire that instantly formed in front of him without any chant or movement. I was sent flying back through a building, but I was trying to contain it, so the whole district didn't burn down.
The first wall had no one behind it, and I almost halted the fireball, but I was pushed back as spikes from my feet tore up the ground beneath me. The second wall I went through got some screams, but I was basically stopped just on the other side of the wall, but there were people at a table drinking behind me. The problem was that this fireball was not getting any smaller.
"GET OUT!" I roared as my body tried to scan the fire to try and figure out what I could do to stop it, but my sensors were all but melted, even with my body producing fire retardant.
The people behind me didn't listen.
"That is going to explode and take out most of the buildings in the area. There is nowhere to run from Orion's Fire. We all die," the older lady said from behind me, but I wasn't about to fuck this entire area up or let it happen.
"Sorry about your roof," I growled, and time slowed as my body started to change, my legs becoming massive coiled springs.
Then I released them and launched up, and through the roof with the ball of fire.
