KAITLYN'S POV
"Hello everyone!! I am Kaitlyn Forester, currently twenty-one-year-old. This is a great moment for me. I am overwhelmed to be here, standing on this stage. This is a great honour for me that you made me capable of this important award. Being the head girl of this college for almost three years was a golden opportunity."
"Thank you so much to everyone here. I would love to tell you that what I am today is just because of my parents. They supported me a lot."
"Today is my last day in this college. I am a little bit emotional but happy too!! I would love to share this beautiful moment and this award with my parents and my teachers. They are the ones behind all my hard work. Thank you so much, respected teachers, and especially mom and dad."
I spoke with much respect to the important people who made it possible for me. I bowed to everyone sitting in the audience. I came down from the stage, bowed to my teachers and ran to my parents.
They are sitting on the VIP seats, still looking at me emotionally and continuously clapping for my achievement.
I put the award down on the table and hugged my dad.
"Congratulations, my girl," Dad said.
"Oops, I made my dad emotional," I said, still hugging him tightly.
"I am so happy for you."
"Me too, thanks dad" I replied.
"I think you forgot your mom, Kaitlyn." Mom said.
I pulled back from the hug and looked at mom with puppy eyes. I grinned at her.
"Sorry" I whispered, I immediately hugged her.
"Thank you so much both of you," I said, holding their hands in mine.
"My girl is grown up, Dani" My dad spoke to mom.
"Dave, we are lucky to have her." Mom said to dad.
"Mom dad, come on, it's a moment of happiness. You're both gonna make me cry. I don't think you want me to cry." I said.
"Yes, of course, we don't. Let's leave, now. Right?" Dad spoke.
"Should we wait for the other winners?" Mom asked.
"I don't think so, you already got our winner," Dad said, patting my head.
Mom smiled and nodded.
We three came out of the award ceremony of the college. We bowed to the principal and left.
We sat in the car and dad started to drive.
Yes, this is my life. Perfect with my parents.
Yeah, it was my last day in college. I completed college with so much respect. I am emotional but now it's my time to think about my future. It's time that I should think about myself.
I am not a girl to cry over a small thing because I never knew what tears are for. My parents gave me everything which I chose. Every single wish of mine was filled by them with their happiness and their love.
I love them so much.
Well, I want to be a fashion designer who will be just on the other level. Everyone will appreciate me. It's my dream. Fashion designing! It is a very normal thing but for me it's important.
"Dad mom, are you guys happy?" I asked, out of the blue.
I know, they are just on the seventh sky of happiness but still from almost a week. I am noticing them. They are behaving weirdly. They are stressed about something.
They are in their worlds. I know, they will never tell me. Urgh!! I can help them.
You wouldn't believe it but yesterday evening. My mom was in her thoughts and spilt the hot coffee on my feet. I cried a little but then adjusted myself. She was continuously saying 'Sorry' to me. I told her that it was not her fault but who would listen to me?
She started to get emotional, seeing that condition of mine but dad handled her.
They are cute!!
Alright!! I am not a small child now. I can understand their problems. They should tell me if there's something which is bothering them.
"Yes, we are happy, darling." I heard my dad saying. They spoke, after a minute.
"Daddy, I want to celebrate this moment with my friends. They are going to Angelina's farmhouse. I want to go with them. Can I?"
"Yeah, you can," Dad said.
It's normal they always allow me. They never stopped me for anything.
"I shall probably leave tomorrow night," I said.
"Are you sure, sweetheart?" Mom asked.
"Yes, mom. My friends will be with me. You don't have to worry."
"Fine, fine" Mom said. "As you wish." She sighed.
We reached our house. Servants and workers congratulated me for my hard work and my achievement.
"Mom, I am in my room. I will pack my things."
"This early you have to leave tomorrow night." She asked.
"I know, I just… I can't wait."
"Okay, then as you wish, darling!!"
I ran to my room, chose some best dresses and packed them.
Time flew and it was night. I was in my room, scrolling down my mobile. I am excited as hell about tomorrow. That's why I am not sleepy also.
I read some books, listened to some of my favourite songs and passed my time. It was 12:50 a.m. I should sleep, although I am still not sleepy yet. I am creating scenarios about tomorrow. We were going to have a lot of fun.
I was sitting on the bed when a knock came on my door. It was dad!
"I am surprised, you are still awake. What are you doing?" He asked, entering my room.
"Dad! I am so excited about tomorrow. We will have fun. It's gonna be amazing." I exclaimed, loudly.
"Okay! I can see the happiness in your tone." He chuckled but...but his voice seemed a bit sad. Yes, I told you something is off.
"Are you okay?" I asked him.
He sat beside me and put his arm around my shoulder. I didn't understand but I know something is wrong.
"Happiness!" He took a deep breath like he didn't wanna speak. "You can get your happiness in everything."
"Why are you saying this?"
"You know, you are a grown-up now!"
I nodded.
"One day you have to leave us. You have to leave your mom-dad."
I looked at him in shock and confusion. "Dad, why are you -"
"Kaitlyn, what we see is not always the truth. Sometimes, you have to dig the whole tunnel to find the truth."
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"You will get it when you will meet your future."
"My future?"
"Your husband"
I coughed immediately as I heard him saying.
Husband?
"Dad, come straight to the point," I said with fake anger.
"Don't take your parents wrong, my child. What we have done for you is correct but if it goes wrong then I don't know if I will be there to apologize or not."
"What the hell are you saying?" I slightly raised my voice.
"I am sorry. I am sorry. Did I just speak too much?"
I stopped and then again looked at him. "Daddy, you seem sad!" My words came out as a whisper and instantly regretted my raised voice.
"No! No! Princess, I was...I was just thinking about your future."
"You are lying," I said
"No, I am not lying." He looked away.
I know, dad, you are hiding something.
After a minute, he said. "Kaitlyn, we don't know what future can take turns for us. And your future is a bit difficult but you don't even have to worry because the person who will come into your life will always be there with you."
"Who is the person?" I asked, putting my head on his shoulder.
"You will get it soon. But don't worry." He patted my head.
"Promise me, you will accept everything which will come in your life ahead." He said.
"Dad?" I looked up at him.
"Promise me!"
"Fine, I promise!" I said.
"Okay, now go to sleep. It's late!" He said and gently patted my head.
I nodded and tried to smile at him. I laid down on the bed and he covered me with the quilt. He kissed my forehead and then walked towards the door. He whispered good night and waved his hand towards me.
It's been a long since he tagged me to bed. It was like childhood memories hit me. Every night he used to tag me in the bed with a good night kiss.
"Good night, dad," I whispered.
He was going to switch off the lights when I stopped him.
"Why?" He asked me.
"I don't know but don't switch it off."
"Okay!" He left the room. "You should switch the lights off." He chuckled and left.
What happened to him? He...he was talking weirdly, wasn't he? My future husband? Really?
I know, something is... WRONG! VERY WRONG!
