The sun had just risen as Oscar woke up from his slumber. He groggily got out of bed and began
his daily routine. He washed his face, ate breakfast, and put on his clothes. As he was about to leave his small home in the village of Willowdale, he remembered that he had been asked to do an odd job for a local blacksmith before he left to pay his respects to his mother and grandmother at the graveyard on the outskirts of the village.
The job was simple, to use his unique ability of analysis to determine the purity of a batch of
precious metals for the local blacksmith. Oscar was grateful for the small task, as it would give him
a little extra coin for his journey.
After the job was done, Oscar made his way to the graveyard where his mother and grandmother were laid to rest. As he approached the graves, he couldn't help but feels a pang of sadness and longing for their presence. He spent some time remembering them and the happy moments they shared before he said his final goodbyes and made his way back home As he walked back home, he couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more in the
woods, something important. He had always been drawn to the woods, ever since he was a child, but today felt different. As he made his way deeper into the woods, he couldn't help but notice the way the trees seemed to be closing in around him. The light filtering through the leaves was dimmer, and the air felt thick and heavy. He knew he was getting close to something. but what?
As he pushed through the underbrush, he saw it. A large tree, unlike any he had ever seen before. The trunk was thick and gnarled. and the leaves were a deep, dark green. it seemed to be calling out to him, and without hesitation, he made his way toward it As he approached the tree, he couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity. It was as if he had been here before. As he reached out and touched the trunk, he felt a jolt of energy run through his body. He knew he had to explore this tree, and without hesitation, he began to climb. As he reached the top of the tree, he
found a hidden library. The room was mostly empty and filled with dust, but he used his analysis ability to search for hidden things, and he found a scroll hidden in the back of the room. As he picked it up, he felt
strange energy emanating from it. He was curious but also afraid of what he might discover. As he was about to leave the tree, he stumbled and the scroll fell open, revealing the secret of a forbidden ability, the ability of Adaptation.
As Oscar stumbled out of the tree, his mind was in a whirlwind of confusion and fear. He couldn't believe what had just happened, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that he had just made a terrible mistake. He knew that he needed to get home and figure out what to do next. As he made his way back to his small home, he couldn't help but think about his father. Oscar's father had always had a keen sense of foresight, and he had always known that Oscar would leave the village someday. But Oscar never expected it to be like this.
When he got home, he found his father waiting for him. "I know you're leaving soon," his father said, "I can see it in your eyes." Oscar couldn't bring himself to argue, he simply nodded. "Take this," his father said, handing him a small pouch of money. "It's not much, but it'll get you far enough to make your own money."
Oscar took the pouch of money, feeling a pang of guilt. He knew that his father had always been a good man, and he didn't want to leave him behind. But he had no choice, not now. "I'm sorry," he said, "I have to go."
With that, Oscar packed his things and left his home, not looking back. He knew that his journey would be long and dangerous, but he also knew that he had to see it through. He had to find out what his new ability was capable of, and how he could use it to help others.
As Oscar stood at the entrance of his village, he couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He was excited for the journey ahead, but also sad to be leaving his home and the memories of his mother and grandmother behind. He adjusted the small pouch of money tucked into the bag across his back and looked down at the necklace around his neck. It was a simple gold chain with a small pendant, but it held a special significance to him.
His grandmother had given it to him on his tenth birthday, telling him that it would always keep her close to him. He remembered her words as he hugged her tightly, thanking her for the expensive gift. It wasn't until later that he used his analysis ability on the necklace and discovered that it held a minor enchantment that enhanced his perception and awareness. It wasn't much, but it would come in handy during his journey.
He felt a pang of sadness as he thought about his grandmother and the sacrifice she had made to give him the necklace. But he knew that she would want him to be safe and to follow his dreams, so he squared his shoulders and took a deep breath. He had packed his bag with the essentials, including his dark blue cloak his late mother made, and a ring given to him by his father, a minor ring of carrying that would help him carry more weight.
He turned to look at his small home one last time, before taking a step forward and leaving the village of Willowdale behind. He knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter in his life, and he was ready to face whatever lay ahead.
