Neduian City sparkled like a gem as dusk settled over its bustling streets. The city's towering skyscrapers gleamed in the fading light, and the glow of street lamps danced on the surface of Dagon Bay. The metropolis was a stunning fusion of cultures and modern technology.
Kordell strolled along the waterfront, where vendors sold savory delicacies from every corner of the world. The aroma of sizzling dumplings, spicy noodles, and sweet pastries filled the air, tempting his taste buds.Entering the train his stomach grumbled, reminding him that he hadn't eaten after rushing out of the house. But he had a more pressing task at hand, getting to school on time.
Inside the congested city train, I was reading notes from earlier classes. I have a very keen intuition you see, most times my intuition is always right. And today it's telling me, I have a test coming up. I kept skimming through the notes while some passengers gave me weird looks, I saw girls my age laugh too. Looking out the window, a stunning Ocean came into view.
A tranquil ocean nestled outside the city's hustle and bustle, On it an island stood firmly surrounded by a thin fog.
Lunar Fang island, the headquarters of the branch of the fang clan that had protected the Neduian republic for many centuries.
Soon the stunning scene was covered by buildings and I returned to preparing for the test.
15 minutes later the train stopped at a station and I highlighted.
Running through the park, I approached the entrance of the academy, where Luell was waiting.
"Kordell, you're here, you son of a bitch" Luell greeted me with a warm smile.
"Of course I am, where else would I be? you asshole." I said with a smirk. "...besides who are you waiting for, Ashley?" I asked
"Yeah.. apparently she wants us to be entering school at the same time, typical girlfriend drama am I right?" he replied in his usual carefree but mocking tone.
"How would I know? It's not like I've had a girlfriend before, Anyways we'll talk later." I answered nonchalantly.
"Sure virgin ass." he replied this time with obvious teasing in his voice.
"Fucking bastard." with that we laughed and I left him at the gate.
As expected later that day we had a test, though I'm not sure if I did well in it.
Soon we had Martial class, the class I hated the most.
Martial studies is actually a fun course, I love being able to practice and use martial arts like in the movies. There's only a little problem, compared to the others my skills are average. In battles, skill doesn't decide victory. There are many other factors, weight difference, height, physical prowess, weapon, weapon mastery and sometimes even traits. Yes traits! sometimes you could be paired up against someone with a trait. Some kids awaken their abilities early, even though there are blockers to restrict how much of their abilities they can use, fighting against a trait holder is extremely hard.
You would think the instructors were sensible enough to sort us into categories right?
Absolutely not! you know why?
"In a real battle you won't be able to choose your opponent." that's what they told us.
Motherfuckers, maybe this would be useful for future soldiers or protectors, but most of us aren't even going to be fighting. We'll probably get a paid job in the city.
After an hour of getting slammed like a rag doll, the class came to an end.
Drenched in sweat I laid tiredly on the mat utterly spent, only the moving of my chest.
'Urgh my whole body hurts'
Luell stood over me with a mocking smirk plastered on his face.
"What's the matter? you can't even throw a good punch. Pussy" he teased.
Heaving in large amounts of air, I raised my middle finger and weakly replied.
"Fu.... Urgh Fuck you dude."
After school Luell had to attend extra economics lessons, and I had to head home.
As I made my way home from the academy, an alluring figure dressed in attire that was too revealing for public outing, boarded the bus. Her figure was mesmerizing with slender legs and a delicate body, and succulent uh..... full chest, with a slightly tanned skin and raven black hair. Her eyes.... her eyes were like two pools of glistening blood, mesmerizing and morbid. Her gaze met mine, and I felt utterly out of my depth. I tried to look away but was distracted by her full chest that was greatly emphasize by her dress. Finally managing to pull my head out of the gutter, I looked away.
Conversing with her was the last thing on my mind.
"Wanna see?"
In a surprising turn of events, it was Misty who initiated a conversation with me.
"Huh?" I replied, my eyes darting while feeling embarrassed.
She smiled and brought out two tickets to the Arena and asked again "Wanna see?"
"I am Eve" she replied, her voice melodic yet tinged with a sense of aloofness.
"Uh sure" the words escaped my lips before I could think. Like I was mesmerized by her, in truth I probably was.
one way or another I ended up going on a date with her to the pro keepers arena where people with supernatural abilities fight.
They venture to the pro keepers Arena, a battleground where those with supernatural abilities engage in martial arts-style combat.
Hours passed, and as the night deepened, the cityscape was now a mesmerizing tapestry of lights, with Neduian City's famous Arena radiating a vibrant glow.
Inside the arena, the atmosphere was electric. The stadium was packed with enthusiastic spectators, their cheers and applause filling the air. The Pro-keepers were in action, displaying their prowess in a heated match.
A mesmerizing spectacle of power and skill. Warriors with abilities beyond imagination clashed in battles that defied the laws of nature.
Standing by Eve's side, I marveled at the energy that pulsed through the arena, a tangible force that seemed to bind us together. In hushed tones, we exchanged our awe, struggling to comprehend the extraordinary displays before us.
Following the exhilarating showdowns, they decide to cap off the night with ice cream.
As the evening progresses, Eve, the enigmatic beauty, suddenly leans in and kisses Kordell. This moment of intimacy takes a dark turn as she plunges a syringe into him, administering a mysterious serum. I tried resisting pulling my arm away, but it was futile her grip effortlessly held me in place. A terrible pressure and heat descended on my arm, I could feel my flesh burning under her palm.
By the time she was done injecting the serum into my arm, she released her grip. I fell in an awkward manner holding my arm, The affected area was red, blistered, and swollen. The pain was intense, with sensations of burning, stinging, and increased sensitivity to touch.
'Argh! a second degree burn'
"What the fuck did you do to me?!!" I managed to utter, my voice confused and scared drowned out by the pouring rain.
That was a serum, my gift to you," Eve explained. "It will awaken the dormant powers within you, granting you abilities beyond your wildest dreams."
Eve's raven black hair shimmered turning red, her figure emanating a faint, ethereal glow. She possessed abilities beyond human comprehension. She was an enigma, a being blessed—or cursed—with supernatural powers, A keeper. Her vibrant red hair glistened under the rain, and despite the heavy downpour, she seemed untouched by the wetness. A mole appeared on her pale neck. It was her—the woman the protectors had been searching for, except she looked younger than the picture.
An experimental serum designed to transform people into keepers. Kordell starts freaking out, But to his dismay nothing happens—he remains seemingly ordinary, he remains normal.
I was excited at the thought of gaining supernatural abilities, merely thinking of it was salivating. With a thought I tried to sense for any changes in my body, anything 'special' or supernatural, even willing my body to try and produce the supernatural.
But no matter how much I willed my body to command the paranormal, nothing happened. It seemed I was incapable of unlocking the secrets of the supernatural.
I immediately felt shock and despair take hold of my emotions, A bit disappointed kordell sighs
Misty is also disappointed but she seems cold and ruthless. She spoke, but unlike the last time her angelic voice full of disdain.
"Huh it seems you are just another useless wretch, well unlike the others you didn't die or mutate into a monster. So I should applaud you for that, But I need to kill you to destroy all evidence."
Eve's demeanor shifts drastically, revealing her cold and ruthless nature. She dismissively remarks that people usually transform into monstrous creatures or keepers, but he seems to be an exception—a disappointment in her eyes. Her cold words are followed by a chilling declaration that she must eliminate any trace of evidence.
