A petite girl was at the bus stop waiting for her bus under the pale moonlight. She wore circular glasses, and her skin was extremely pale, with little freckles on her face. Her hair, long silky black with a tinge of voilet, was parted at the fore head and the ended in a single but large braid at the end. She was wearing the uniform of the academy kordell attended.
'Today there's a full moon. Huh? isn't that uh... kordell? what's he doing'
Ariel was on her way back from her part-time job when she spotted Kordell who goes to the same academy on a date with a pretty girl.
It was hard not to notice him since he was wearing the academy uniform.
'who's that girl? is he on date with her?' she thought.
'Are they dating? Who is she?' thoughts like these were going through her head. It was normal for a girl her age to be curious about such things.
'There's something strange about her, but I can't put my finger on it'
She watched as Kordell and the mysterious woman entered an alley.
'Well it's none of my business, everyone has secrets and it's not good to pry. I have mine too' she quickly lost interest.
A minute later her bus arrived. Just as she was about to get on, she felt a sharp electric sensation flow through her spine.
'Argh! w-wait wasn't that the call of a keeper?'
She quickly turned around and dashed through the street, using her intuition to guide her to where the call came from.
She found herself near the alley Kordell had passed a few moments ago. She hid and used the reflection of a black sedan's window to look.
Kordell was on the ground clutching his arm, while that woman stood over him. She muttered something to him then her demeanor became much colder and sharper.
'Her hair turned red and her appearance changed, isn't she the keeper Mr Ryt told me to keep an eye out for?, and kordell is in danger' the frightened Ariel thought.
She crouched switched on her state of the art flip phone, one of the new models to come out, and quickly sent a message to a special number.
'Hopefully they come fast enough' she thought.
Seconds started to tick by, then minutes. As more and more time went by she could hear the screams of kordell, it was strangely muffled and chilling. Right at that moment.
'Ariel are you there?' A familiar gentle masculine voice resounded in her head. It was Micheal the protector that had met kordell.
'Y-yes sir' she replied.
'Alright that's good, Ryt and I will engage the enemy. You will take the victim away, is that clear?'
'Affirmative!'
This was Ariel's secret, she secretly worked for the protectors agency as an informant.
She was also a keeper, though a less powerful one.
Something whizzed through the air and the strange woman, Eve, was sent flying.
Ryt appeared where she had just been. He wore a formal attire, black shirt and black trousers with a white overcoat. Draped in moonlight, he looked as stunning as ever. Even his pale bluish skin, raven black hair and emerald eyes were accentuated by the moonlight, and his tall bearing just made him intimidating.
Eve quickly got up from the rubble, her right arm twisted in an awkward manner. She was able to block Ryt's surprise attack at the last second.
She maintained eye contact with Ryt, then studied the heavily injured kordell, returning her attention to Ryt, she snickered.
Just as she was about to move, Ryt spoke "Don't even think of escaping".
Then he chanted "OWL'S DOMAIN!"
A ring on his finger released a ghostly blue light, Before Eve could even think of reacting, both her and Ryt vanished.
Ariel blinked unsure of what just happened.
"Urgh" Kordell groaned before fainting. Once the threat was gone his body finally broke down.
'Oh right Kordell!' Eve quickly got her mind out of the gutter, she raced to his position and dragged him out of the alley. He was still breathing for now, but his health was deteriorating quickly. She also picked up his severed arm.
5 minutes later they were in an ambulance heading straight for the hospital.
**********************************************
*5mins ago*
Eve had been caught inside Ryt's trap, her arm already healed.
'That ring is probably a charm of sorts' She thought as she assessed the situation.
They were currently trapped in negative space, it looked a lot like the alley she had just been in, except there was no exit. It stretched for miles, even smashing the walls won't make an exit, you'll just appear in the alley again, And the moon was shining ever brightly in here too.
'An annoying precious charm it is' She thought.
"What a nice ring you got there" She said with obvious annoyance in her tone, Before she kicked off running. Her running stance was low and she lowered her outstretched right arm. Her speed was incredible, like nothing could match her.
It seemed like she appeared in front of Ryt, she spun and threw a flawlessly executed heel kick. Surprisingly Ryt dodged with exceptional skill, stepping in and ducking under the kick.
Just then Ryt finished summoning his weapons. A double edge sword, shoulder and arm protectors made from lusterless metal and a chest plate phased into existence, like ghosts phasing into existence. Since he had already dropped his overcoat moments before, the armor materialized over his shirt.
"Tch" Eve hissed in annoyance.
Eve completed a follow up by throwing a forward kick with her left leg, which Ryt easily side stepped.
But Eve had already summoned an elegant curved saber in her outstretched arm, and she also summoned a scaled obsidian armor that clung tightly to her body with only a piece of red clothe covering her chest and nether regions. She looked like a crusader from hell, but instead of heavy armor we had a scaled obsidian armor that's almost like a second skin.
Using the momentum from from her forward kick, she swung the saber on her right arm towards Ryt who was right Infront of her.
Ryt knew he couldn't evade so he used his sword to block the attack.
'Strong, Urgh! terribly strong'
He was pushed back, but Eve didn't give him time to stabilize himself. She quickly lunged at him and pulled out a pistol from her buckler, it wasn't a soul weapon like the other weapons she summoned, just a normal weapon she had hidden well.
She was about to pull the trigger when she heard a commanding voice.
[STOP!]
'Language of Authority!!!' Eve was alarmed but she couldn't move, she tried pulling the trigger but her body wasn't listening to her.
The voice came from somewhere out of her periphery vision.
A figure seemed to appear out of thin air, wielding a lance made from some strange blue crystal or mineral, and the figure was charging at her.
It was Protector Michael charging straight for her.
Eve couldn't help but be apprehensive towards the strange Lance he was holding.
'Although the spell he casted on me will be removed in less than a second, My intuition tells me if I get hit by that lance it's game over'
Eve gritted her teeth and poured her remaining energy into quickly breaking the spell, while Ryt and Michael closed in on her.
Ryt before they struck her, she broke free, evaded Michael's attack while blocking Ryt's.
She let Ryt's sword collide with her left arm, using the force of the impact and cushioning it. It hurt like hell though.
She allowed her body to be sent flying back, this way she would be out of the duo's range.
She just landed when Ryt's sword swiped downwards she met his attacks with her's, and they continued with a furious clash of steel.
Michael was a little slow but right behind, luckily during the small moment of respite from moments ago, she had already summoned some flame familiars to take care of him.
A snake, will-o-wisp and a doglike beast, all made of flames lunged at Michael.
The battle turned heated with Michael slaying the flame familiars, while Ryt battled Eve, like a giant knight facing of against a demoness. Their class was a fury of steel, their movements so absurdly fast that one couldn't even make out where they were attacking.
At times it was like they had 4 hands, at other times none. Micheal quickly defeated the familiars and rushed to support Ryt.
Just then Ryt staggered, he was battered and his injuries were catching up to him. He had been rendered immobile, for now. Eve was about to deal the finishing blow, her right arm had been knocked back, but her left was raised and in it a revolver.
Michael opened his mouth ready to use The language of Law, when Eve changed the trajectory of the gun and aimed for Michael's head.
Panicking Michael cancelled the spell and used his arms to protect his head and torso.
Eve emptied all six shots on Michael, 4 to his arms, and 2 to his legs. She threw the revolver away, kicked the immobile but recovering Ryt away and charged towards Michael.
She could have killed Ryt, but she chose to leave him for last, and deal with Michael and his sinister lance.
Because of the gunshot wounds on his arm, Michael had dropped the lance and Eve was closing in.
[STOP] he hurriedly chanted.
Because he didn't have enough time to charge the spell, there wasn't much of an effect.
Eve simply staggered a little before she regained herself. Michael jumped back and brought out his revolver, only for Eve to simply appear in front of him and slash the pistol. His fate was all but sealed.
Suddenly Michael smiled, Eve felt extreme danger but it was too late.
Something phased through her armor and body, and seemingly pierced her soul and mind.
"A-Arghhh" she screamed.
Looking down she saw the Lance, but this time it's blade was ghostly semi transparent. It pulled back making Eve gasp, before returning to Michael's side.
"Ah s-so it was a familia-" Eve said before spasming and falling to the ground.
"phew~ that was a close one. Also nice work buddy." Michael said as he sheated the lance.
He walked over to the unconscious Eve and made sure she was breathing, then checked on Ryt. He was fine since the necklace he summoned granted him healing abilities albeit slow.
Ryt carried Eve and cancelled the negative space.
"Alright let's get out of here." Said Michael, After which they both disappeared like they had never been there.
