The night passed slowly for Lydia. True, Gerald had answered her questions and explained everything to her, but she still didn't like waiting.
"An official audience will give us more authenticity before The Green." Gerald had said. "They'll listen easier and hopefully allow the Queen to receive treatment from me and you." Her mind raced with uncertainty. So much was left up to chance. So many 'what ifs' raced through her head that she wished she was drunk. She hated herself every time she got drunk, and hated the mornings afterwards even more, but this was one of the few times that she wished that she could numb her mind.
