Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

The village of geuvlanski which was part of the Russian territories ,was a dense landmass located behind the mountains.

As per the plan I was to serve as an apprentice to the village's doctor ,Mr. Sklovasi .His hospital which was   actually his home wasn't much  a problem locating it because it was known throughout the village.

I  managed to find him but he wasn't exactly how i expected him to be .Instead of an old dude i met a handsome and well dressed gentleman with quite a long hair for a man.

'I presumed you to be Senorita Antoinette ' he spoke with an articulate  Mexican accent

"Yah is me alright ,I hope I'm not going to explain why am here. Am I " I asked

'No everything has been been cleared on the phone earlier today ,could I call you Anette 'he said with a smirk on his face.

'Of course as you wish ' I said

He begun to explain to me about the things I ought to do as his apprentice ,concerning his line of duty.

Shortly I began to have a hang in everything he just taught me,starting with the instruments needed for any medical problem. The reason was entirely because I couldn't shake off the image of him from my head, his well structured shoulders, luscious hair, and a whole lot.

He received a call from a resident up on the mountain requesting for his services, which was to be my first patient.

Right away he instructed me to pack some medical instruments which he carried whenever he had a patient on the mountain.

'Sklova...ump,what's  your name again,sir' I queried

'You can call me Vasi' he said

Climbing a mountain wasn't difficult as I had expected.  The only way to the apex of the mountain and fast was using the sky lift ,which was connected to cables encompassing the entire territory.

Being the first time I had ever gone on a solo mission in a foreign land and also on a mountain, I couldn't help but gape at the wondrous sight of nature befalling my thine eyes.

The patient he was supposed to treat was a senile old dude locally called by the locals as Grandfather  Ben diagnosed with a chronic heart disorder. He was known to be the one who started the rumours of the vampires responsible for the recent cases of blood lost in  the corpses of people who mysteriously all died on one night in the neighbouring town, now classified as a ghost town with a total population of zero.

I never knew pretending to be a medical officer was difficult than it seems to,first I had no idea how one could be able to perform an operation on a patient, despite the unpleasant smell of blood greeting the medical officer . But I have to admit being a medical doctor,is a matter of having courage or else one might end up throwing up in the middle of a medical operation or worst, collapse and end up falling ill.

Grandfather Ben was much of an eyesore. His style of fashion was what one would considered as tacky, uncolourful and lame. He lived in a ran shackle hut decorated with strings of garlic, which he supposedly claims to repel vampires roaming in the vicinity.

"Hola  Grandpa Ben, I hope you've been taking your medications which I had prescribed to you during our last meeting."Slovasi asked

"Would you cut that crap, you old geezer. Every f**king time you show up,I hope you have been taking your meds and that's entirely all what is in that rotten brain of yours, you son of a f**king b***h". Grandpa Ben responded

He didn't blame Grandpa Ben's rude attitude towards him, it was probably his age and his longer state of loneliness which was permanently affecting his psychological state of mental status.

But he had hoped that  the presence of a different person,Anette would help to restrain his rudeness or wait it looks like it's actually working.

"Young lady would you care to have a drink with such a fine gentleman like moi" Grandpa Ben said while he led me into his self proclaimed mansion.

I couldn't help but wondered how the inside of his home might look like and whether he could give me any Intel to help with my investigation.

He led me to an antique coffee table where he poured me a cup of coffee while constantly smiling at me ,revealing his partially decayed teeth which I presumed to be as a result of heavy drinking of rum. I noticed that there were lot of portraits of  people ,mostly military men and women who bore a slight resemblance to him.

"I see you take a liking to the portraits hanging on the walls of my home, would you care if  I was to tell the history of my family, young mademoiselle". he said

"I wouldn't mind " I said

"My family is considered as one of the founding families of this town, and as much helped to develop this town in terms of  security, economically etc .Benjamin Franklin VIII,which is my real name was later corrupted to the present name,Grandpa Ben by the locals. History has it that my family was considered as the military power of this town and so it was customary  for  every male who turned fifteen in my household to join the army which  was established by my family as the symbol of peace in the town...." He said while being interrupted by Slovasi entering the room.

"In the 1500s, rumours where that ,the townsmen were being attacked by 'night demons' who devoured the blood of their victims but rumours are rumours so my family failed to acknowledge that information and brushed it away as fairy tales. When a relative of mine actually died as a result of loss of blood ,then my family decided to investigate and from their investigation they were able to catch two said 'night demons' ".He continued
