"Who are you? And how do you know my name." The girl's eyes fell and she let go of her arm. She looked sad for a moment then smiled and turned to Scarlet.
"I'm Celeinthia, I take this form to protect Lacey." Celeinthia sighed. "But I can't help her now." She turned and disappeared.
Scarlet looked around, she was relatively calm for being in a mysterious white room, with a strange girl that as she walked faded in and out of view.
Celeinthia was pacing back and forth in front of Scarlet. She walked back and forth, each tap of her sandals making a hollow sound that vibrated through the white room.
Scarlet grabbed Celeinthia's arm to make her stop. "Where are we?" Celeinthia sighed. "We are inside the magic of my form, this place is where I can speak to you. Scarlet you must help me!."
Celeinthia grabbed Scarlet's arm again. "We have got to help Lacey! You know just as much as I, how much danger she is in." Scarlet nodded sadly. "I can help, I know where they took them." Celeinthia's face lit up. "Yay."
Scarlet awoke, she pulled herself up and onto her feet, taking a deep breath. The fabric of the dress draped over her shoulders, she put her hand on it and felt the understanding.
A flash of rainbow light made her eyes have spots in them. She shook her head and peered through the darkness the magic had put the candle out.
The door flew open and Fay stepped into the room. Scarlet shielded her eyes from the light coming from the doorway. "Goodness child what are you doing standing in the dark."
She took Scarlet's hand and pulled her into the library. "It is already late. I'm sorry we didn't get to read together." Fay glanced back at the girl, who she was pretty much dragging behind her.
Fay stopped. Looking down at Scarlet's dress. "Did you get into the princess's room again?" She asked harshly. Scarlet looked surprised, and drew back.
"No!" Fay pointed to the dress the child was wearing. Which wasn't the plain gray dress the child usually wore. The dress was blue, the skirt long and full. The fabric is made of the finest cloth.
Scarlet hugged herself. The dress's color began to change from blue to yellow, then a flash of rainbow made them both cover their eyes. Fay's eyes widened, she gasped, she took a step back. Then she shook her head and rubbed her eyes vigorously, she took Scarlet's arm again.
Scarlet stared down at the dress that fit her perfectly, but she stood in her old gray dress, the one you would see about every servant girl in. But where her dress was scratchy and too big, it now fit perfectly and she felt no scratchiness. She smiled and let Fay lead her out of the library.
She sat a plate of food in front of her, when a loud commotion made all the servants In the kitchen turn to see what was going on. A man ran into the room and stopped breathless and panting in and stopped in the doorway. "THERE'S A MASSIVE MONSTER ON THE NORTH SORE!!"
Gasps were heard all around as the man turned and ran through the hall yelling. Everyone rushed from the kitchens crowding the halls as they went for any window looking to the north.
Scarlet ran out of the castle's north door and was soon running across the palace lawn. When she reached the wall it ran to the abandoned guard tower.
Pulling a key from her pocket she was up the stairs in minutes. She reached the top breathlessly and looked out over the town. And down to the beach far below. She sighed, frustrated that she couldn't see the monster the servant had told them about.
She squinted to see but she saw nothing. She hesitated only a second, silently telling Fay sorry in advance. She ran back down the stairs, locking the tower behind her, she slipped out the wall door. Making sure to lock it behind her.
The dress turned yellow as they ran through the streets, when they reached the end of the upper town. She saw the crab-like creature with a mouth filled with tentacles smashing houses as it made its way towards the castle. She gasped as the dress turned red and the fabric felt hot.
People ran by her, as the soldiers that were trying to fight the monster were eaten or killed by it. She stood paralyzed With fear, she told her body to move.
But she could not move. She was grabbed and thrown over someone's shoulder as the crab's leg came down dangerously close to where she was standing.
The person ran with all their might to keep ahead, bucking and dogging as the crab chased them. The dress still glowing red was almost over heating her. Scarlet grabbed her pendant trying to focus on the magic of the dress.
"Stop! You're hurting me.." She told the dress, the dress grew hot. She screamed as the man was grabbed by a tentacle throwing Scarlet to the ground. Scarlet's hands came to cover her head as she tried to protect herself from the monster.
A blast of ice cold air hit her, she uncovered her head to see the monster frozen in place two men were held above her head, frozen in place.
She scooted Her body from under it and got onto her shaking legs and ran towards the castle as fast as she could. Her head was throbbing. She turned to look back, screaming at her idea of coming closer to the monster.
The thing was frozen in a block of ice and houses were crushed all around it. She quickly turned and started running again. The dress was still red.
She reached the castle and entered through the way she had come out. Then with shaking hands she locked the door. She collapsed to the ground.
