Chapter 1 - It’ll End Soon

"This is…"

Su Can slowly opened his eyes and surveyed his surroundings, which were familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. It was familiar because this was a place he often frequented, and it was unfamiliar because it was not his home. He checked the time and found that it was almost noon.

Su Can moved to get out of bed, but before he could do so, he hissed in pain. His headache was so severe that it felt as though his head was going to explode. Nonetheless, he was not surprised. He simply thought it was because he had drunk too much last night. After all, it was not the first time that such a thing had happened. The only problem was that he could not remember how he had ended up at the hotel last night; he could not remember if he had come here alone or with another person. However, based on the fact that his clothes were still on and that his waist did not hurt, he concluded that he did not sleep with anyone last night.

"Forget it. Let's check out first…"

Su Can did not pay too much attention to this matter. After he felt more awake, he got up and washed up before he left the room for the reception desk.

The reason Su Can did not put much thought into this matter was due to the fact that this was a common occurrence for Su Can. He was famous locally; he owned ten houses and lived a very comfortable life. Every three to five days, he would bring women to the hotel; he was already a regular of the hotel.

"Good morning, Brother Can. You must have had a good time last night."

A staff member of the hotel, whom Su Can ran into, took the initiative to greet him. In fact, he was not the only one. Apart from new staff members, almost everyone in the hotel knew who Su Can was.

"Good morning," Su Can replied with a smile. As he walked past the other party, he casually brought out two bank notes from his pocket and handed them to the other party over his shoulders without looking back. His movements were natural as though he had done this countless times before.

"Thank you, Brother Can…" the staff member said in surprise.

Su Can did not respond, and his expression was slightly indifferent.

In fact, Su Can had not always been like this. For as long as he could remember, he was adopted by an old man and had lived with the old man since. Alas, everyone would grow old and die, and the old man eventually passed away. Although the old man was not wealthy, he still left an old house to Su Can after his death. Not long after, the house was demolished, and he was generously compensated for it. Subsequently, he acquired ten houses and became a landlord, living a rich and boring life.

Initially, Su Can had many fantasies about love. However, on his path to finding love, out of the ten women he met, twelve had impure intentions. As time went on, he finally came to his senses one day.

At that time, Su Can's eyes were bright as he muttered to himself, "Damn it! I'm so rich now, and I'm already ahead of others. Why should I pursue those empty things? Why don't I just live happily?"

Who knew how long he would be able to live? Perhaps, he would be alive one day and die the next day. It was better to live happily and do whatever he wanted. Just like that, he turned from prey to hunter. He hung out at bars and clubs all day, picking up women.

When Su Can arrived at the front desk, he placed the room card on the counter and said, "Check out."

Seeing that Su Can was a regular, the receptionist did not dare to neglect him. After checking the system, she sized him up furtively before she said tentatively, "Sir, the woman from last night has already paid for the room before she left."

"There was a woman last night?"

Su Can was slightly taken aback and puzzled upon hearing this. He really could not remember coming here with a woman last night. Moreover, if he really came with a woman last night, based on his personality, something would have happened. Why did he not do anything with that woman?

The receptionist nodded and brought a box out as she said, "That's right. When she left, she even left you a box of medicine."

"A box of medicine?" Su Can looked at the small pill in the blue medicine box and took it.

"Yes. Before she left, she said that it was for treating headaches and that you should take it after waking up," the receptionist said seriously, not daring to miss anything.

When the receptionist mentioned the word 'headaches', Su Can felt his head aching again. If he had known it would be like this, he would not have drank so much last night.

Su Can frowned slightly and instinctively asked, "What's her name? Did she leave any information behind?"

The receptionist shook her head, indicating that the other party did not leave any information behind.

Su Can nodded and looked at the medicine box again as he muttered to himself, "Medicine for headaches?"

After a moment, realization seemed to dawn on Su Can, and he continued to mutter to himself, "She must have deliberately left this behind, right? I've seen too many tricks like this…"

Su Can was very certain of his conjecture. He was confident that the woman from last night had deliberately left the medicine to trick him. He would not easily fall for such a trick again. However, despite his thoughts, he still put away the medicine. Even if it was insincere, it was still a show of concern. Ever since that old man passed away, he felt that there was no one in this world who truly cared about him.

While Su Can was lost in his thoughts, the receptionist looked at him furtively as she thought to herself in relief, 'Fortunately, the woman left last night. Otherwise, this young master wouldn't let her have an easy time today…"

The receptionist was naturally familiar with Su Can and was aware that he brought different women to the hotel all the time. As such, it was naturally impossible for her to have a good impression of him.

After a brief moment, Su Can finally turned around to leave. Just as he was about to leave the hotel, he saw a familiar face, causing him to pause in his tracks. He saw a beautiful woman with a good figure holding the arm of a man who wore a big gold watch.

'What a coincidence…'

The woman was Su Can's ex from a long time ago. Even he, himself, did not remember how long ago he had been with her. Nonetheless, he still had a deep impression of her. Apart from money, she did not see anything else. Back then, it was also because of money that she was with Su Can.

'Damn…'

When they walked past each other, Su Can's ex glanced at him briefly. Her expression and gaze were not hard to decipher.

Su Can only clicked his tongue in response, and the corners of his lips curled up. The mocking expression on his face could not be concealed at all. He thought that it was ridiculous that the woman only knew how to sell her body and youth in exchange for short-term benefits.

When Su Can finally walked out of the hotel, the scorching sun was already hanging high up in the sky. The people on the streets were sweating profusely despite holding umbrellas in their hands to shield themselves from the sun.

Su Can found it difficult to open his eyes due to the piercing sunlight, and his head began to hurt again. At the same time, he overheard the people in the surroundings complaining about the weather.

"Damn it! It's too hot! I should've brought a fan!"

"When will this damn day end?"

Upon hearing those words, Su Can chuckled softly and thought to himself, 'Soon… It will end soon!'
