Roderick opened his eyes slowly in the middle of the night. He took a deep breath, a feeling of extreme unease in his heart. He exhaled loudly and turned, hugging Elena once again. But the moment he wrapped his arms around her stiff body, he realized something was seriously wrong.
He got up and tapped Elena gently, trying to wake her up.
"Wake up. Elena, what's wrong with you? You have to get up." However, she didn't even twitch, just laying there silently. If Roderick didn't know any better, he would have thought she was a statue or something.
Roderick checked her pulse and could barely feel anything at all. This made him panic and he immediately called his assistant.
"Get the car ready." Roderick spoke after the call was answered. His voice seemed abnormally calm and yet not calm at all.
"But Sir, it's 1am. Why-" Before Jack could finish, Roderick said again, his voice lower and omnious.
"Get. The. Car. Ready."
He then hang up. He looked at Elena again, his heart panicing even more. He went over to her edge of the bed and on the ground he saw the bottle of sleeping pills that was suppose to be on the center table. He turned to look there, only to see that there was nothing there.
Now knowing what had happened, he worried even more and didn't waste anymore time. He immediately wrapped his arms around her before carrying her up and runing out. Because of the suuden incident, there whole villa was in disarray. Everyone already awake and panicing.
As they paced about, they saw Roderick run past them with an unconscious Elena in his arms. Outside, the car was already ready to go and Roderick immediately got in with Elena. Seeing the situation the driver and the assitant were stunned but they reacted quickly, already knowing the drill.
The driver rushed out right away. And Jack being a capable assistant, called the hospital, telling them to gather the best doctors to be at the ready when they arrived. He also told them to prepare a VIP ward for the Madam.
Roderick at the back was extremely disorianted, his unfocused and nervous gaze glued to Elena. He held her tightly, wrapping her cold body in his arms to give her warmth.
"You have to stay with me. Ellie, please stay with me, okay?" As Roderick spoke, his voice broke continuously. He hugged her even tighter with these words. However, Elena didn't move a single muscle. She was as still as a dead person. And this scared Roderick even more.
"Faster!" Roderick barked from the back. Almost immediately, the car shot forward like a bullet. At that speed, they got to the hospital in less that ten minutes. Roderick got out, carrying Elena in his arms. A row of doctors had been waiting for them and immediately came forward.
They were surprised to see the woman in the disheveled man's arms. They had heard the news that this man was married but they didn't think they would get to see Mrs. Whitlock with their own eyes. However, the poeple at Roderick's side were definitely capable so they were only surprised for a micro-second before getting to work.
They took her from Roderick's firm arms and immediately sent her to the ER. One doctor stayed to hear the situation and Roderick told her without hesitating for even second. Therefore everything proceeded smoothly and Elena's stomach was pumped.
It took two whole hours for her stomach to be completely pumped of the sleeping pills in her.
When she was brought out, Roderick rushed over to her, his worried eyes scanning her pale face.
"She is out of danger for now, Mr. Whitlock but there may be some long term effects of this overdose. We need to keep her here to monitor her condition. And Mr. Whitlock, please don't stimulate her. Her mental state is very fragile at the moment and she can't handle any stress right now. You should try to keep her positive, else if she attempts the unthinkable again, we might now be able to bring her back. Her will to live is not enough to keep her alive and in good health if this were to happen again. You need to do your best to make her happy during this period."
The doctor after talking at length nodded slightly in respect beforing turnng and leaving. Elena was taken into the VIP ward. She slept silently but this time, Roderick could her breathing which made him extremely relieved and glad.

A day went by quickly and Elena only woke up at 9pm. She thought she would not open her eyes anymore but again, she found herself in this wretched world. She felt endless frustration well up in her. She was too tired to live even another day in this messed up world.
She tried to move but her body felt too heavy. In the end, it didn't matter much to her and she continued lying there silently. At that exact moment, someone walked into the room, closing the door gently behind them. Elena turned her head and met the tired grey eyes of Roderick, her dear husband.
When Roderick saw that Elena was awake, he finally felt truely relieved. He walked silently over to her and sat down on the chair beside her. He looked at her pale face and asked in a calm and gently voice, "How do you feel? Do you feel any discomfort anywhere."
"Why?" Elena's voiced out hoarsely.
Roderick didn't answer her at all. He knew exactly what she was asking. Why did he save her? Why didn't he let her die silently and peacefully? However, he had no intention of answering those questions.
Instead gave her a glass of water. He touched her forehead before getting up to leave the room. He came back a few minutes later, a row of capable dodctors following behind him. The doctors started checking her condition meticulously.
"Mr. Whitloock, there seems to be no major problem, just that your wife is a bit weak. However, just to be sure we need samples of her blood and other samples. She is still too weak to draw blood from her so that test will come later, when she regains some of her stregth." One of the doctors reported Elena's condition briefly.
Roderick nodded his head in understanding and the doctors retreated tactfully. When the doctors left, Roderick went back to Elena's side and smiled at her sightly for some reason.
"You wanna go for a walk around? They have a garden here. It's very beautiful."
