Venus sadly stared at him. "I won't. I believe I am not good enough for you, My King. This is only the beginning of the pain that I would suffer if I stayed by your side," she said. Damoen saw the tiredness on her face for the first time.
"You promised to stay with me," he said.
"And you promised to take good care of me," she replied.
Damoen swallowed hard, trying to ease the guilt that had started burning inside him again.
"I want an honorable death; the death at the hands of my enemies would be a great thing that will happen to me if my time will come. But the death at the hands of the person I valued will be the worst that could happen to me," she said.
"Are you thinking I would kill you?" he asked, horrified.
