Chapter 40 - A Lifetime of a Mortal Conclusion

Muyong's brow furrowed in confusion as Yu Yan's question hung in the air before looking at the latter gaze.

He paused before drawing his eyes thoughtfully into the distance, as if searching for the right words. His forehead creased in concentration, and he took a deep breath, as if gathering his thoughts.

He spoke slowly, deliberately, his voice carrying a soothing.

"Sometimes," he began, "what we fish for is not always what we want to catch." He paused again, as if considering his words carefully.

"The river," he continued.

His gaze fixed on the gentle flow of water before them, "Has a way of giving us what we need, not necessarily what we desire. But it is all part of the same cycle, the same interplay of cause and effect that governs our lives." His words hung in the air, like ripples on the surface of the river, and for a moment, there was only the sound of the water and the rustle of leaves in the wind.

As he spoke, Yu Yan's mind become vacant.

The breeze whispered through the leaves, carrying the scent of the earth and autumn leaves, rustling past Yu Yan's ears as he listened to Muyong's words.

His senses heightened, he could feel the connection between all things, like an invisible web that intertwined the sky, the trees, and the river together.

Suddenly, he saw everything with a newfound clarity, As Muyong's words flowed like the gentle river before them, Yu Yan's expression slowly changed.

He could see the river as a metaphor for the ebb and flow of life itself, and he realized that everything in the world was interconnected.

As Yu Yan gazed into the river, he noticed the shimmering silver scales of the fish as they gracefully moved with the current.

Some swam upstream with determination and strength, while others drifted aimlessly downstream, carried by the flow of the water. He could see their small mouths opening and closing, as if silently singing their own song.

The water was a deep blue-green color, reflecting the sky and trees that surrounded it. The riverbed was littered with smooth stones and pebbles of all shapes and sizes, forming a mosaic of color and texture.

The plants swayed in the gentle current, providing a habitat for the creatures that lived within the water.

As he looked beyond the river, Yu Yan saw the village nestled together, surrounded by fields and forests.

He could imagine the farmers tending to their crops, the hunters tracking their prey, and the villagers going about their daily lives. He knew that they depended on the land and its resources to survive, just as the fish depended on the water and plants of the river.

But he also saw something else - the interconnectedness of all things.

He realized that the actions of the villagers, whether good or bad, had a ripple effect on the world around them. The health of the land and its resources affected the prosperity of the village, just as the health of the river affected the lives of the fish.

As the realization washed over him, Yu Yan felt a sense of peace settle over his soul.

The night began to fall, casting a golden glow over the river and the surrounding trees. Yu Yan watched as the light danced on the water, creating a beautiful, ever-shifting tapestry of colors.

For a moment, he felt as though he is the river, flowing along with it on its endless journey towards the sea.

"As I cast my line into the river, I am reminded that fishing the act of sowing karma," Yu Yan whispered softly to himself. "Me throwing the bait is cause, and the fish biting it is effect. Everything has karma, and the end always follows the beginning, just as the sun must eventually set after its brilliant rise."

His words hung between heaven and earth, carried away by the gentle breeze as it rustled through the leaves. The river flowed steadily, a never-ending cycle of cause and effect that mirrored the natural rhythms of the world around them.

Each moment is like a ripple on the surface of the river, spreading outward and influencing the world around us.

"Like a fish caught on a line, we are caught in the currents of karma, unable to escape the effects of our actions," His voice was barely audible above the gentle rustle of leaves and the flowing water of the river.

At this moment, Yu Yan obtained clarity!

[Ding Dong!]

[Congratulation host for comprehending the Great Dao of Karma!]

He smiled hearing a familiar voice, but due to his aged and stretched wrinkles on his face, it was barely discernible.

In the same time that the voice of the system returned, Muyong back faced Yu Yan, picking up his step after giving his answer.

Like the shadow cast from a tall tree, once night fall, it too would fade away in to the eve of dawn.

His eyes glisten as he look at his surrounding. From the trees, drop of waters, to even the insects crawling around, he could see tiny threads hanging above all things.

[Special Mission has been completed, the system will now retrieves the host's soul from the Desolate God Temple!]

"Desolate God Temple?" He murmured, surprised by the sudden mention of this name.

But it didn't take long for him to form a conclusion," So the world I'm in is one of the myriad world inside the Desolate God Temple? No wonder why I cannot sense the natural law of heaven and earth..."

He chuckled, standing up as he dusted the dirt off his ragged clothes.

As he stood up, he could feel a newfound energy coursing through his body, as if he had been reborn.

"My True Yang Soul is being agitated?" The seal on his Yang soul seems to be dispersing from some unknown power, which he assumed is to be the system.

With his Yang Soul appearing, he had regained some semblance of his power.

This made him even more curious as to how powerful the system is to interfere with the Desolate God Temple, not to mention giving him the opportunity to comprehend a Great Dao!

The threads he had seen before seemed to glow with a new intensity, and he could sense the karma of all things even more clearly than before.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, savoring the fresh scent of the forest and the sound of the river. The world around him seemed to come alive, as if it had been waiting for him to awaken to its beauty.

Then, he looked toward the distant direction where Muyong left, it was as if Muyong was standing in front of him.

Above Muyong's head, is countless thread of karma, it was simply numerous!

As he looked closer, he could see that some of the threads were tangled and knotted, while others were smooth and unbroken.

Yu Yan realized that each thread represented a life, with its own unique journey and set of circumstances. Some were short and simple, while others were long and complex.

But no matter their length or complexity, they were all connected by the invisible web of karma that governed the world.

Among these threads, there was one he cannot see, cannot read!

It was crimson red, as if it was dyed with the colored of blood.

His eyes dazed as his hand reached forward subconsciously, wanting to touch this thread of karma.

[Warning!]

[Host, refrain from tampering with the great karma incarnation of the Desolate Demon!]
