Leon quickly got rid of the messages before he took no time thinking about putting his knife and hatchet in his inventory. At the same time thinking of pulling out his bow while grabbing an arrow from his waist.
While it wasn't the best choice to use the inventory like this, it was effective, and he didn't want to risk trying out the Cloak's defense right now. With the wolves' current speeds, his inventory could keep up plenty.
His motions were smooth and efficient, like he had been using the Universal Law System for years now, as his melee weapons were suddenly gone and replaced by a bow. With a few swift steps, he was a dozen meters further from the approaching wolves. His speed stunned them for a moment, giving his powerful eyes time to aim and fire upon them.
The wind whistled again as an arrow flew straight and true, right in between the eyes of the closest wolf. The other three continued to chase after him as he put distance between them, then took a shot.
It only took half a minute to finish the remaining ones.
Leon panted heavily due to the quick movements he had to do. The unfortunate part about using equipment was that if you physical body couldn't handle it, it was no use. He was pushing his limits to the max, using equipment with +50 on them so such fast movements couldn't be used all the time.
Using that full +50 would be a death sentence for him currently.
'I need more stats.' He thought while wiped his sweat away.
*ding!* [You have slain 4 grey wolves! +20 exp gained!]
*ding!* [You have leveled up!]
He brushed off the notifications as he felt his body feel a little bit lighter. With every level up, a Player earned +1 in every stat while mana increased by +5. It was the same for everyone except for the 'First Awakened' like himself, who seemed to get double the stat increase.
While it may not seem huge right in the beginning, it would soon start to show its true strength since overall, these 'top dogs' would be twice as powerful as anyone else. That didn't take equipment into account of course, but the likelihood of those same individuals getting much better equipment with the 'Protagonist' buff was likely.
Leon put away his bow and quickly brought out his knife and hatchet to examine them.
*sigh* "I assume human weapons are way worse than F rank weapons?"
[Yes. Most weapons, even firearms, can only barely kill some F rank monsters. If they are on the cusp of E rank, don't even bother trying.] The system replied.
His hatchet and knife both had glaring cracks along its surface. While the weapons themselves were actually still in good condition, their 'Durability' was horrible.
One feature most weapons made by the system had was the durability function, which determined how long a weapon could be used before it had to be repaired. As Human weapons weren't part of the system, they were at a measly 1/2 points for the knife, and 2/3 for the hatchet.
The bow was fine for now, since it was a higher quality bow to begin with, but it also only had 3/8 remaining durability.
"I'll need to make a weapon until I can find one then, and use these current ones sparingly."
If he could continue to one-hit kill wolves or other animals, then he'd be able to get 6 more kills toward the bonus before needing to use something else. On top of that, he still didn't know what the hidden quest was, and had no idea how to go about that.
It wasn't a huge priority, but his curiosity was getting the better of him. He had been living peacefully for 20 odd years now, a little fun and adventure wouldn't hurt now and then.
He went over to grab the arrows next, only to find that they were all done for. The arrows made by humans seemed to have a durability of 1 unfortunately but he still had plenty before his bow broke. However how would he make new arrows should he get a new bow at some point? He could make them, but what materials would he have to use in order for the system to recognize it?
He thought for a moment before coming up with a semi solid plan. Using his remaining arrows, he would use them to take down a few birds to use the feathers for arrows. He could then use the remaining durability of the hatchet and knife for some deer, and maybe a mountain lion if he came across one, to use the antlers as the shafts for arrows.
After that he would need to make his own weapons and a long wooden spear seemed best for now. If he ran into a bear, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to one shot it. They were quite tanky for the animal world and he didn't have a good enough weapon to kill one.
His strength might be high for the second day of terraforming, but there were plenty of hidden stats at play that he wasn't sure he could overcome.
All while he was thinking, he began to move the wolf bodies back near his camp. With his increase in speed, it only took a few hours to do, and he was also able to dig a small trench to put the carcasses on ice until he got to skinning them.
He also realized that his clothes had durability as well, despite having taken no damage. Other than the Cloak, everything else had really low durability and no defensive properties. Leon felt like he was going back in time, having to fashion his own clothes now out of animal hides in order to survive, not that he hadn't had to do that before.
If he was going to continue his hermit life, he needed a solid survival plan and that started with new necessities. Food and water wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, but shelter may be an issue. The terraforming that was going to continue getting worse, would someday turn this lovely forested mountainside into a frozen wasteland.
One day, he may have to leave his home...
Taking his mind off of depressing things, he cooked up more of the wolf meat and ate. It was starting to get dark, but he didn't want to waste anytime lazing about today, so he removed the teeth and claws from several of the wolves and began tinkering for weapons.
One frustrating thing about the system was that even if you made something that could potentially work as a weapon, if it wasn't recognized by the system, it wouldn't work no matter how hard you hit an animal with it. As such, he needed to have certain 'ingredients' went it came to crafting anything, in order to produce the desired results.
So, he sat down for a few hours, using up teeth and claws along with tendons he carefully removed to try and recreate weapons.

*ding!* [Your proficiency in making weapons has earned you a skill! You have learned Weapon Smithing (F)!]
In his hands were two crudely made knives, however they were quite odd when holding. When Leon was making them, the pieces barely fit together and seemed flimsy when tied together. It wouldn't have worked properly before the Universal Law took effect, but once the system recognized the item he made, the weapon seemed to magically come together to form a professionally made knife... just made out of bone.
It was an odd feeling to see a modern design of a knife made out of bone but it seemed to work somehow.

A knife made out of the teeth and antlers of animals, tied together with tendon.
Attack +1
Durability: 10/10}
It wasn't extravagant but it was something. 10 Durability went a long way right now and they weren't too difficult to make in the end. After he had finished the first one, the second one was much easier to make thanks to the Weapon Smithing skill. It was like a blueprint had been added to his memory, and just by having the necessary crafting materials, the item would practically make itself.
It was strange not having to actually 'make' an item, but what's even stranger was an item he unintentionally made using smaller teeth and some skin after messing around.
