"He wouldn't…"
"He almost sucked me up. I'm pretty damn sure he would." Elias had the right idea. I was a man on a mission with a doting daughter to get back to.
"How bout you turn those lights back on you punk-ass bitch! Don't run from this fade!"
"Adrien enough. Goading him will only make things worse." He was right but I still fell for it. I chin checked that little shit and then slinked back into the shadows. His eyes turned red and he rubbed his jaw as his sight settled on me, he grinned.
"Gotcha!" His fists lit up with a red energy that immediately started to heat up the room beyond uncomfortable, even for me. Adrien charged at me, fists raised as he delivered a punch to my own chin, shocking the hell out of me.
This kid could see me and hit me in my own battlefield? Oh hell no. time to play dirty. I normally drag people into the shadows for long distances, like directly back to SUIPP HQ but for short distances I can make instant portals.
I opened one up under this cocky little shit and Elias and dumped their asses right into the city sewer system, closing it over top of them.
"Adrien? ADRIEN!?" called out another male voice. This one looked Asian. He looked angrily at me. Ok how many of these kids have night vision?!
Winds started swirling around this kid and he disappeared from my sight briefly. The next thing I felt was a stream of air so fast and pressurized that if I wasn't paying attention it would have ripped a hole right through me.
It didn't stop at one air bullet either. Several more kept coming at me, no matter where I materialized this kid had one ready for me. I had to stay on the move or this kid was gonna kill me.
"Gesu yarō Stop hiding in the shadows and come out and face me like a man. I can keep doing this all day." He sounded out of breath. Idiots didn't know the longer you use the power the more stamina you lose. Still, he didn't stop and the walls of this place could only take so many holes before it came tumbling down, not that I cared of course.
"You're one to talk about hiding, little boy." I couldn't keep my eyes on him. Just how fast was he going?!
What kind of new breed are these kids?! We haven't got any reagents on this power scale at all.
"Nue?! What's going on?" A soft feminine voice called out.
"Bee, be careful. It sounds like something is going on." Another one. Two females. Three males. Still one missing.
"Guys stay back. There's this creepy SOB in here…using some sorta shadow abilities to run and hide. He dumped Adrien somewhere-"
And I dumped him too. The moment he stopped moving and stood in front of the girls I dropped him into the sewers along with his friend. The other male, Elias, was his name? He must not have any offensive capabilities. If I can bag him and the two females then it's still a good day.
"Nue!"
"NUE! YOU ASSHOLE!" The buxom female cried out as she summoned some sort of feather blades and rushed in my general direction but not directly at me. Good. There were still some blind ones here, that's all I needed.
I reached my shadows out and dragged the buxom one into the shadows with me. A shorter distance but still far from here. I'd need at least a minute. I turned my sights to the other one.
"Ahhhh! Bee get me out of here!"
"Hang on Ari, I've got you."
"Yeah, I wouldn't count on that."
"Eep!" Bee squealed and frantically flashed her light around, desperate to find me to no avail. She was adorable and kind of reminded me of Nia. I was almost sad I had to take her in, but she's just another freak like the rest of us and freaks don't belong out here.
My shadows started to overtake her too but she screamed and shot some sort of liquid? Out of her hands at the wall. It started to solidify itself and it wrapped around her hand.
"Ari, hold on to me!" The little squirt was pulling herself out of my shadows using that…web line? This should not be possible. My shadows are strong enough to keep a fired missile within it and some teenage girl was pulling herself free like it was nothing.
If that wasn't a kick in the ego I don't know what was.
These brats were almost free. I didn't want to resort to violence but they left me little choice. I materialized in front of them, suit and all. Only the whites of my eyes shining in the dark as their phones fell to the floor, lights on my shadowy frame like a fucked up shadow puppet show.
"I hate to put my hands on a lady but you two are leaving me little choice."
"Bite me you prick!" Ari spat at me as she continued to struggle.
"If we ask pretty please will you let us go?" Bee asked softly knowing it was probably useless.
I laughed at them and grabbed them both by their hair, prepared to knock them into each other when I heard the sound of rushing air. There's no way that Nue kid could be back this soon…
But it wasn't Nue. It was my worst nightmare, my darling daughter Nia and she chucked a couch at me like it was a softball. I used all my shadows to teleport it behind her, unfortunately freeing my prey in the process.
Nia grunted as the couch hit her in the back but her stance was still solid, she didn't even flinch as it shattered behind her. That's my girl.
"I don't know who the heck you are or why you're attacking us .But you need to leave here, now. I'm not asking."
