Chapter 35 - Disowned.

[Conan POV]

I went home a little late that afternoon after meeting Taryn's parents, since I have parents of my own who are waiting for my arrival at home.

"Wow look who finally came home," my mother greets me with the most menacing look.

"Sorry I wasn't home ma, I was with friends," I say sheepishly rushing to my room.

"Hmmmmm," I hear say, "you better take responsibility for your child if you get a poor girl pregnant out there," she yells making me cringe.

"Come on ma, I always use protection," I grumble, I rush to my room to change into something else, these current clothes smell too much like Taryn.

"Cousin,"

"What is it Cyan?"

"How is the nanny?" she asks, oh lord I have given these people a way to tease me, goodbye soft life.

"What are you talking about? Why should I know?"

"Because you left with her, and she said oh Conan just left when I called her earlier to talk about her being a live-in nanny."

"What? Why would she be a live-in nanny, Clayton and Kaleah are here."

"They are going on a honeymoon dummy," she rolls her eyes, Clayton Beckett taking days off work, how peculiar. "So?" she says in the most demanding voice.

I just ignored her and continued to organize my room. "What is going on between you and miss nanny?"

"Nothing, we just got too drunk and I couldn't drive back," "okay," she shrugs but I know she will still pester.

"By the way you will have to pick her up in two hours so she can come here," she says before taking a glance at me exiting the room.

It is all Clayton's fault, of course when a living android gets married love fever spreads. Ugh, this is such a mess.

I had drove to her parents' place to pick her up, after a good lunch and biding mother and father goodbye.

Well, it is a big church, for a modest man such as her father.

"Hi, um... who are you?" I am greeted by an elderly lady, a bit far from my grandmother's age but not too far off.

"I am Conan, I am here to pick Taryn up for her job," I reply uninterested.

"Hmph, so you re the brat that stole my grandson's fiancé?" she asked rudely.

"I wouldn't say I stole his fiancé, he just fumbled the bag, blame him for not treating her right not me." I say walking away from her, but she grabs my hand violently, quite strong for her age.

"Listen here you brat you will leave Taryn and she will marry Mike and he will finally become a good pastor like he was supposed to be," she says angrily.

I had tugged my hand in attempt to break free, "leave me alone, for a holy woman you sure a greedy ma'am." I sarcastically say making her even more angry.

"Hmph, you are playing with fire young man, promise me to leave Taryn for Mike and you will not see the consequences of your actions."

"Do your worst toothless," I joked, making sure to comment on the two missing front teeth.

"You..." she grunts, but before she can say a thing, we see Taryn and her parents approaching along with Mike.

The old lady does a double take before smirking at me at that she lets go of my arm and falls down violently. She lets out a gut-wrenching squeal.

"Oh… you monster how dare you push me?" she screams on the ground; Taryn and her parents run towards us after that.

"What? I didn't push you?" oh this is getting worse that I thought, how am I getting out of this.

"Pastor Duff, this young man pushed me violently because I joked about him marrying Taryn," she cries as Mrs. Duff helps her up.

"I didn't do anything wrong sir, why would I get angry about something like that?" I defended myself, but I can see they already see me as guilty.

"Conan Beckett what is wrong with you?" Mr. Duff roars angrily, "you do not care for elderly people enough to push poor Mrs. Cook."

"I didn't push her, this senile lady is lying," I angrily say making the crowd piling up gasp, quite a wrong choice of words there.

"Young man you dare speak like that to the elderly, why would this woman lie on you," Mr. Duff says making me even angrier, so this old woman can just accuse people and you will not hear their side of the story.

"With all due respect sir, and all this respect is because you are my girlfriend's father, why are you just believing her word without any investigation?" I angry says.

"Mrs. Cook is a loyal member of the church why should she lie?" Mr. Duff says, ugh, really just because I am not part of the church, I am the wrong one.

"Young man…..." he tries to say but is interrupted by Taryn.

"Father, stop, you didn't even hear his side of the story," Taryn says, I don't like that she on my side the same time I appreciate her support, this is her family they might disown her.

"Taryn don't say a word, this monster pushed my grandmother, you know how much my grandmother just recovered a stroke."

"Enough!!" there are cameras in this place, go check them for proof, "but as far as I am concerned, I trust Conan didn't do anything wrong."

"You dare speak about me like that young lady? See Pastor this is why I tell you she should just marry a man of God like Mike, not this filth." The old lady says glaring at me.

"Taryn, you do not have to…" I try to reason with her, I don't want her to fight my battles, she might lose her whole family if she does, "no Conan, they have no right of accusing you with no clear evidence."

"Taryn Duff how dare you speak like that?" her father shouts angrily, it seems he is not on her side today.

"Apologize to Mrs. Cook now!"

"No," she says firmly.

"Apologize now or this will be your last day as my daughter," he says firmly, his wife is shocked before protesting his decision. Taryn is clearly almost crying.

"You will break up with this man and you will reconcile with Mike, who will learn to treat you better," he says angrily, Mike and his scheming grandmother seem to like the outcome.

With her wet eyes and teary flowing in buckets, Taryn sighs, "okay, thank you for raising me for this long, I am a woman I am because of your teachings and love," she catches her breath as she cries.

"Thank you so much for loving and protecting me father, mother."

"They will continue to love and protect you, and our future children," Mike says with a smile of triumph.

"I know I am a disappointment in many areas, and today I add another thing to that list," she says extending her hand to hold mine, "I guess I am no longer your daughter." She says with a hitched breath before tugging me to walk to my car.

Her father calls her out as she continues to walk without looking back, I hate that I am the source of all this pain, and I am not even her real boyfriend.
