A few days later...
Emperor's Office
Alex was currently in his office, reviewing documents while his mind was quite occupied.
'To think the gods finally involve themselves. Oh well, they broke it first.'
*Knock knock*
"Enter," Alex said as he heard a knock on the door, and the butler entered.
"Your majesty, the generals and ministers have gathered in the conference room," said the butler.
"Alright, I will be heading there," Alex said as he wore a black plain shirt and black jeans and headed towards the room, escorted by two imperial guards who were observing the surroundings.
Imperial Conference Room
The people gathered in the conference room, on one side were ministers from the administrator department, and on the other side were military personnel, chatting away.
As the door to the conference room opened, Alex entered, and everyone stood up and bowed.
"Greetings, your majesty," they all said, but Alex gestured for them to sit down, and they complied.
"So, everyone was briefed before coming to this meeting, but let me say that was only partial information of what I'm going to say in this conference," he said as the screens immediately turned on and showed satellite footage of the continent of Tyrell.
"So, first of all, the gods of Tyrell have indirectly involved themselves by coordinating with other elven empires to ambush our units and capture the equipment to reverse engineer," he said, and everyone nodded, as this was quite expected given their emperor's godly status.
"And secondly, I'm increasing our military presence since we have not yet drafted a war plan against the Tyrell natives. So, I decided to deploy the 27th legion in response to the earlier attack and increase the training of the Novorossiya army," Alex said, and most of them were shocked, some silently contemplating.
"So, your majesty, why would you send the 27th legion? It is still not fully manned, and we only have 70,000 soldiers currently active in that legion?" one officer asked.
"Well, when they arrive, they will focus on territorial defense, and the recruits for the 27th legion will be shipped into Tyrell," he said, and everyone nodded in agreement, since their main war focus was on Pangea, not external threats anytime soon, but they started moving pieces already.
"So, for the next agenda, it's the Tiamat Empire and the Zenith Empire," he said, and everyone tensed up, knowing some information reported by Assassin X.
"An alliance between the Tiamat Empire and Zenith Empire is inevitable. We can't practically do anything, and that means they will have the means to have an airship and practically conquer the rest of the Zenith continent, making it look like a natural fortress," one of the generals said with a look of frustration.
"Well, on the diplomatic side, we can't do much other than place sanctions on their empires and further increase the prices of luxury goods in their empires, thus causing unrest. The rest is up to the military's stake," said the head of foreign affairs, and the Grand Marshal Dimitri, representing the military, nodded in agreement.
"We need to change our battle plans and ensure that we are prepared. May I propose a new type of weapon or ship to be designed by your majesty?" Dimitri asked.
Alex nodded and spoke, "Alright, here is a design which I call the Bertha-class carrier. It carries 200 warplanes, but for 30 bombers can fit and carry 8,000 personnel. It has side armaments that can fire like a battleship and has multiple anti-aircraft defenses. The way it hovers over water is powered by new levitator stones that can be adjusted in height, and I have created large thrusters for it, but it still needs testing," he said after showing 3D holographic pictures and the thrusters in the middle of the table.
"..." Everyone was dead silent.
"So, what does silence tell me? Is this good?" Alex asked nonchalantly.
"Yes, it's already perfect, your majesty, but a prototype must be built in order to have it tested," said the Department Head of Development.
"Sure, but make sure it is complete in three years from now on, since we have deadlines to catch up," Alex said, and everyone nodded.
Soon, the meeting was filled with talks and plans for the empire's future, but one thing was still the subject of gossip.
"So, how do we deal with the future marriage between the Queen of Muscovy and Assassin X Grandmaster?" said one of the ministers.
"Well, we can't deny their romance," said one of the officers.
"But the political effects it means we're supporting the north?" said the head of foreign affairs.
The argument lasted until Dimitri tapped his knuckles on the table and spoke.
"How about the opinion of the emperor, since he was the person who started the debacle?" he said with a smirk, and everyone turned to Alex, who unknowingly played with a Rubik's Cube. He had just created this game on a whim, and everyone immediately adopted it, turning it into a business and profiting well.
Alex stopped playing and turned to the people looking at him, knowing what they were talking about. He raised his hands in defeat and spoke.
"Well, I did that to avoid mishaps in diplomacy, and who cares anyway? We are the Draconian Empire. We are the sole superpower in this continent and are challenging two superpowers," he said, and everyone's eyes widened in realization.
"And if they truly love each other, let's just support them. Since this would make relations with Muscovy, and us having more chances in establishing more military bases and help them develop their nation and industry, thus making a second superpower in this continent," Alex finished, and everyone agreed since Alex started this romance, so he must finish it.
Meanwhile...
Axe and Weiss were currently in the Black Sparrow Kingdom in the east. They were taking a short break since their next destination was the Draconian Empire. They planned to pass the so-called Eledia Empire since they had been trying to attack the Draconian Empire, but not without passing through the Draconian-held neutral ground of the Lightning Emperor.
The next day...
They drove in the flat plains and were already passing through a town that was part of the lands of the Lightning Emperor and was manned by Draconian Territorial Defense units.
"So they have developed much, and it turned into a tourist attraction since the large lake is like a beach. So many people came here by plane," Weiss said with a smile, and Axe nodded.
"Well, let's stay here for a while," he said and drove to a nearby luxury hotel and checked in.
"Enjoy your stay in the Palace," said the attendant, and they headed to their room, which was situated at the very top and had a balcony looking over the lake.
A few hours later...
They arrived in their room, a king-sized bed in the middle surrounded by ornaments and a vase.
"Well, let's explore the place," Axe said, and Weiss nodded.
Alex's POV...
Alex was currently watching the operations of the Draconian Empire since in a year and a few months, the final showdown between the Draconian Empire and the Chronos Horde was going to occur.
A few months later...
Draconian Eastern Front Border Post...
Soldiers stationed on a watchtower saw an incoming vehicle with a small insignia of the Draconian Empire. He immediately told his partner.
"Tell the commander that the Grandmaster has arrived," said the soldier. The soldier who received the order nodded and went down, heading to the command where the commander was reading some documents. He saw the soldier coming inside and saluting.
"What is it, boy?" he asked.
"The Grandmaster has arrived and is currently waiting at the gate," said the soldier.
"Well, don't you stand there. Tell the men to open the gate!" he shouted, and he, along with the soldier, rushed to the gate. The gate opened, and the pickup truck entered.
They waited until the door was open, and Axe came out with a tired look. He saw the Commander saluting at him.
"At ease, soldier. There's no need for formalities. I'm planning to drop Weiss or Zarina at the Draconian Airport, and she will head back to Muscovy," he said while stretching his body.
He headed to his truck, sat on the back, and breathed in and exhaled.
"It's good to be back."
